  1. Does it shut off or does it go straight to black screen and restart? I had the latter and a motherboard update fixed the issue.
  2. Used Acronis True Image and it worked, even resized the partition at the same time. Computer booted up just fine with the new drive. Thanks everyone for the assistance.
  3. @King Poet@SSD Sean Both drives are GPT. Cloning the drive exactly without resizing didn't work, still getting the Recovery screen with the new drive installed. Going to try Acronis True Image right now.
  4. Yeah, it's a Crucial MX300. I'll give those a try and update the thread. Thanks.
  5. Hi LTT community, I need your help with a task I was given at work. I have to upgrade a laptop that has an M.2 128GB drive to one that has 1050GB. We ended up purchasing EaseUS Partition Manager to do the job. I've tried doing the Migrate OS option and the Clone Drive option but both don't work. Once the process is over and I install the new one, the system won't boot. I get a recovery option but it won't load. So far, with both options have been resizing the last partition so that it would take up the rest of the drive. Right now I'm testing the Clone option but without resizing to see if it would work. If anyone has any experience using this software I would gladly appreciate the assistance.
  6. A couple of days ago, I came back to my desktop computer after having lunch and found that my monitor was reporting "Display Port No Input". Computer was working fine all morning, if I left it idle for a while the screen would automatically turn off but hitting a button would wake it up. I had this issue before, so I just restarted my computer and monitor but this time it didn't work. I changed the cable to the other ports of my GTX 1070, but still didn't get any image. I tested with another DP cable but didn't get any image on it or with any of the video card output slots for DP. I did get image from HDMI and DVI on the video card. Next, I grabbed a laptop with a DP output and connected it to the monitor, I did get image with both cables I had used previously on the desktop computer. So currently, I'm using the DVI connection, but would eventually like to return do DP especially if/when I get more monitors. What would be the issue in this case? I was thinking of using DDU and then installing the latest drivers to see if this fixes it. As a last resort I would have to format the computer and reinstall the OS. If you guys have any other recommendations I would be grateful. Just hoping that the issue is not the video card as getting an RMA for the card would take an extremely long time to send the card and get it back again. Taking the card out and testing it on another system will be difficult, as I would have to find someone with a computer to install the card into. Might try testing it on the computers at my workplace, but I doubt any of them would have a PSU that can handle the card. 7. Honduras. Sorry, should have mentioned that an US Amazon link would be great.
  8. At work we've been getting a lot of laptops that have an SSD that is M.2 or NVMe. On occasions, we have to service these laptops and extract the data on the SSD. However, adapters with these connections can't be found in my country. Can anyone recommend, with an Amazon link, a adapter (with both connections) to USB. Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks for the response. The NAS came with those drives when it was purchased so I didn't have much choice in the matter.
  10. At work we have a Lacie NAS with 5 HDD installed. Each is drive is a Seagate ST4000DM000 4TB. One of the disks failed on us and I have to replace it in order to access the information again. One of our local providers has a Seagate ST4000DM005 4TB drive. Would this be compatible with the Raid on the NAS? The NAS is configured in Raid 5.
  11. I'm looking to purchase a Synology NAS so that I can set it up as a Media Center and Backup storage. Currently, I'll be needing around 6 to 7 TB of available space for all my media and backups. The NAS that I'll be purchasing has 4 disk bays (DS418play), so I'm looking at HDDs that are 4TB. The options that I have are the WD Red 4TB and the Seagate 4TB BarraCuda. Not taking into account the price, which would be the best purchase? I'll be streaming music and video using Plex at most to 2 devices at the same time on the network. Making regular backups of my laptop and desktop. Storing my Steam Library, I won't run games off the NAS, just storing it so that I don't have to redownload games. I'll be copying the games I'm currently playing onto my desktop drives. One of my main concerns is how much the 5400RPM would affect the transfer rates from/to the NAS. Would it be a significant impact on the playback of the media? Seagate 4TB BarraCuda https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071WLPRHN WD Red 4TB https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EHBERSE
  12. Does it work for any SSD or just Samsung?
  13. A coworker has an HP Omen 15 with a 128GB M.2 drive. They just purchased a 1050GB drive and they want me to transfer all the contents (including OS) to the new drive. I know I can clone the drive and set up the partitions on the new one, but he doesn't want to have a 120GB partition on their computer anymore and would prefer to have the full 1TB available as C:. What would be the best tool or course of action to go about doing this? The other options I've thought of was just transfer the recovery partition and try to get it to reinstall windows on the new drive.
  14. The computer doesn't necessarily need to be a Mac, she can use a Windows system. It just has to be better than what she has at a reasonable price. And yes, it would also be best that it be a desktop/workstation. I need recommendations on the Video Card to buy, be it a Quadro or a Radeon Pro and the amount of VRAM it should have. RAM I guess could be anything higher than 2133MHz. Still unsure on whether to pick an i7 or Xeon. Already trying to get a quote for the iMac 5K with our local suppliers.
