  1. Hello, Some years ago we had a teacher in college that explained to us that most machines connected to the internet after many years of use by "amateurs" will get infected vy a virus in some way or another. At the time, this seemed reasonable so I've been thinking this way and everything seems fine. When I updated to windows 10 I started using just windows defender as antivirus protection since that is what I was told I should do. My question is: Am I wrong? I feel like most people I know think as I do... If this is naive or outdated I'd like to know and I can't find much information about it. And even when I do, it's very technical and confusing to explain to others to verify it.... I'm currently using Windows 10 with everything up to date. I checked on windows defender and I ran the most in depth scan available in the app. It says No threats. Is this reliable or my pc might be infected with all kinds of stuff that WD just can't detect? Any information will be appreciated but keep in mind that I work in video and my background knowledge in this topic is very poor... Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, I'm really lost with the whole ProRes on windows thing. I know I won't get native encoding on apps such as Media Encoder or DaVinci Resolve so I'm working on finding workarounds. Some people suggested me that I should install OSX on a separate SSD in my PC so I can use the same machine to Export my projects in ProRes (Not that I personally want to... But the client... Well the old story...) MY QUESTION IS: Will I able to install OSX on my system? I've been researching this and I'm having a hard time making sure. Some people say there is no driver support for the new pascal architecture and others say it should work just fine. Can anybody help me out? MB: Asus X99 A-II x2 Crucial 1TB SSD CPU: Intel i7 5820K GPU: ASUS Strix GTX 1070 (Pascal) RAM: 32GB DDR4 Memory And a good PSU. What OS should I install? Is there another good option to get ProRes encoding on windows? I Know about Cinec and Plin, but if I have to manually convert already exported files I will use my old MacBook... All input will be appreciated! Merci!
  3. Hello! I am a videomaker and currently I use a macbook and a Blackmagic Ursa Mini. When I'm working with 444 UHD ProRes and Uncompressed RAW on DaVinci Resolve Studio my computer (obviously) can't handle it in real time. I am looking to build a PC to work with these formats in realtime when possible, using heavy grades such as noise reduction and raw decoding, with as much grace as possible. I do not have a big budget. Only 1700 to 2000€. I already have a 4K monitor and peripherals, and I have a list of what i might go for. I would like to have thunderbolt 3 but I'm not sure how to go about it... Can somebody tell me how bad am I doing this? I'm fairly new to PC building and every input is appreciated.
