  1. there is a lenovo laptop for 850 ish, its got an i-7 and a dedicated gpu with some other great specs, not familiar with the names, but that is a good one ive been told.
  2. it uhm. its really old. barely runs 7, a couple months difference and itd be XP
  3. the game has changed now, the motherboard didnt have trouble with that one hdd, it wont read any hdd's. i need another motherboard...
  4. I need help. ive got a HDD i need to format, but to boot the computer to wipe it, i need antoher HDD. but i cant plug more than 1 HDD in, because my PSU has only one power cable for my HDD. i have another identical PSU in another computer, so i thought it would be a good idea to plug the power from that psu into the second HDD to give it power so it could boot, then from there, i could format the first HDD and have 2 working HDD's again. the problem with the 1st one is that the motherboard bios wont recognize it, which is pretty problematic as you may guess.
  5. Still haven't gotten it working, so i have no clue what to do. Somebody please help meeeee! EDIT: HAHAAAA! didnt mount it right... im fucking stupid as always. EDIT: ive got ubuntu running and its working out allright, but im still confused on getting the hdd to work. would formatting it fix it? and if so, how do i format it when i boot from a usb drive?
  6. Just reset the BIOS and now it starts up saying "preforming automatic IDE configuration... No device found AHCI BIOS not installed Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager option ROM v8.5.2.1002 IHC10R/DO Copyright(C) 2003-8 Intel Corporation. All rights Reserved. An Operatin System wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" The hdd isn't connected and the usb drive is in, so idk why it isnt working ;-; EDIT: I tried unplugging the usb to see what it would say with nothing to boot, and it said pretty much the same thing as with it in. the final message was: "No boot device available - Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics"
  7. now it says "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drices that don't contain an operating system. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
  8. update: im stupid... i didnt know what "bootable drive" meant. im putting ubuntu onto a bootable usb drive now. once i get that working, i should be able to get the computer to boot properly.
  9. Drive 0 not found : Serial ATA, SATA-0 Alert! Failed to detect one or more drives during POST. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics
  10. I tried it, i put ubuntu on a usb drive and tried to boot from it, it still wont work. it just keeps saying it failed to detect one or more drives during post.
  11. it worked at one point, then the owner removed the drive to sell the computer. its a 3.5 inch drive.
