  1. Sorry to bother again, but any thoughts on desktop microphones? I was looking into CAD U37 for its sound isolation features over some other popular ones like the Yeti/Snowball. My only concern about a desktop mic is that it would pick up the clicks from my mechanical keyboard.
  2. Unfortunately I don't believe I have any nearby retail store that would have high quality open back headphones on display to try. As much as I love the velour on the R185s, I read a few people say that if you listen to music with a lot of bass, you will most likely prefer the closed style so I am leaning towards the R175s. The majority of what I listen to is rap and I can imagine it would sound quite different in a way that I don't like on an open style. Like you said though I have to try it to find out. Thank you for all the help that you have given me.
  3. That actually might be perfect then considering I will need a mic, and if the headphones are too open the sound I hear may carry over through my mic.
  4. That's a good way of putting it, I was actually sitting here trying to put myself in a scenario with the open back headset on, and for example lets say I am playing a game and I am moving through a forest and I can hear the sound of the wind and the leaves blowing all around, it would sort of feel as if it was all happening in the quiet room I am in, opposed to just straight into my ears. The only downside I can think of is if I were to ramp up my case fan speeds to full it would be quite loud, however I would hope that despite the open back design the audio would be able to drown out the fan noise.
  5. Thanks for the suggestion, I am researching them now and they look like the perfect fit for me so far. Now my only question lies in which model/microphone. I have always had closed back headphones and I sort of like the feeling of being immersed in the audio that I am playing. However, I was looking at the RS185 and I see that the back isn't open. While that doesn't bother me because I have never used open back before, is it something that I should be concerned about? Would my audio experience really be that different between the RS185 (open) and the RS175 (closed). There are probably a lot of variables that could factor into this, but from what I have read open backs obviously make it easier to bring in sound from the outer world, which in turn could kill immersion? Maybe I am overthinking this...
  6. Hello! A few days ago, the mic on my Logitech G930 went out after 2 years of heavy use. The G930 was my first wireless headset and it really made me appreciate the fact that I no longer had to be tethered to my PC all the time. I am well aware that wired headphones will blow away wireless in terms of sound quality, although I did not find the quality of the G930 to be bad by any means (coming from someone who only has a pair of Beats Solo to compare). If I sat at my desk all day like a rock then yes wired would be the obvious choice, however that is not the case as I like to move around quite frequently. To get to the point, I mainly play games and listen to music. I am looking to drop no more than $300 on a good pair of wireless headphones, or as I have heard from many others, getting a pair of quality headphones and attaching a clip-on mic is not a bad idea. Comfort/7.1 Is not an issue. I have had my eyes set on the Siberia 800 but have been somewhat hesitant to purchase after reading some regretful reviews, and I feel as if the price is still relatively high for it being 3 years after release. Linus seemed to like it though, and he has never failed me before. I also looked into the new Logitech G933, however I feel the Siberia would still be the better option. As much as I have praised wireless, I did look into a few wired headsets, particularly the Game Zero from Sennheiser. If I went that route, although probably not needed, I would grab a creative sound card to max out the full potential of the headphones. Assuming the on-board audio on my MSI-G45 motherboard is not adequate. I would only choose this path if the sound quality achieved was stellar enough to make me not care if I was handcuffed to my PC. Considering I was happy with the sound on the G930, and the Siberia 800 appears to have much better quality, I do not think I even need top of the line audio, especially if I value freedom of movement more. So what do you guys think based off the info I have provided? If I go wireless should I shell out $270 for the Siberia, hold off and see if any new high tier headsets are about to hit the market soon, or is there currently a better wireless option than the Siberia? As open minded as I am about going back to wired, I honestly cannot fathom going back to Skype calls with a wired headset. Having the ability to stay in the conversation even while AFK is a luxury I don't think I can go without again. Thanks in advance for the help that anyone has to offer and sorry for the wall of text. <3
