    Monitor Troubles

Thanks for the reply, one last question, do you know if a DVI-D to thunderbolt would support 144hz, from the online research I did, it supports 4k, but nothing on 144hz. Do you know anything on this topic? Thanks.

    Monitor Troubles

Correct, but if I'm not mistaken that apple adapter is a duel link adapter. Since I'm outputting in duel link and receiving in duel link shouldn't I inherit that trait? If that is incorrect do you know of a solution for me to obtain 144hz, or is it hopeless?
  3. Hello LTT community, I'm having an issue with my monitor and would like a second opinion if you have time and expertise to spare. I have a 144hz monitor and I would like to hook it up to my laptop but I have been running into difficulties. To start off with I know the monitor is in working condition as I hooked it up to my dads computer through dvi-d and ran counter strike at 144hz no issues (yes I changed the resolution in windows and counter strike). So I figured lets hook this up to my laptop, except my laptop does not have a dvi-d port. So I went out and bought an apple adapter to hopefully connect my display to my laptop(linked below). Well it seemed to work except the colors were a bit off, then when I changed it to 144hz I got a pink streak on the right hand side of my monitor and some color distortion(blue lines in a pure white image). So I figured maby the adapter was not getting enough power, so I hooked up a powered usb hub to it to make sure It got enough power, but It produced the same result. Finally I repeated this process with the other mini display port but got no change. The next thing I wanted to verify was that the laptop could drive the monitor, so I broke out my trusty $5 HDMI cable, and sure enough the monitor worked fine at 60hz but no 144hz option (grrr). So my question comes to you guys, I noticed on the stickied thread that mini display should support 144hz at 1920 x 1080 with no issues but I seem to get them. I also know that the adapter is good because my friend also had the same one and we got the same result. So do you guys know of a way that I can get 144hz out of the setup I have (would a thunderbolt type c to dvi work?), or have I missed something in my testing? Any ideas are appreciated, and I hope I did not bore you too much with my situation. thanks, -oglly My computer i7-6700k GTX 980 windows 10 16gb ram Laptop display ports 1 HDMI 1.4b output Port (with HDCP) 2 Mini DisplayPort 1.2 output Ports 1 USB 3.1 (Gen2) / Thunderbolt 3 Combo Port (Type-C Port) Apple Dvi-d to miniDisplay http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MB571Z-DisplayPort-Dual-Link-Adapter/dp/B001IF252C My Monitor (BenQ XL2411Z) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014376
