  1. i5 6600K Overclocking

I did a little overclocking on my system, (CPUZ Validation link) http://valid.x86.fr/xnhzi3

    My i5 6600K is at 4.68ish GHz on 1.31v

I also played around with my ram speeds and managed a stable 2300MHz and did a comparison test at different speeds using MaxxMem as shown below

I really hope those are DDR3L dims.. even then you would be best to upgrade to DDR4 where you can get much better and higher speeds than this.

its not 3l as its super expensive but they're rated for 2400MHz

i would order ddr4 but I'm not forking out for another new board and ram

its Hyper X Savage XMP Ram

  2. the ds cube from aerocool is so beautiful and a heap of fun to build in and due to the orientation of the tray, so damn roomy...
  3. I just finished my i5 6600K build and it so happens to ne in the orange and black ltt colours so here i am sharing a pic. sorry about the poor quality photo. https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/user/itzallama/saved/2gv23C theres a link to all my parts
  4. i managed to source a cheap Asus R7 370 second hand, i now have 4GB of ddr2 ram and im going to put my system into a temporary case
  5. at least i can do a decent overclock on the cpu as it will be watercooled
  6. its decent speed if i wanted better brand new at that storage side im looking closer to double the price
  7. yeah but the price for performance storage mass is great for the price and i can re use it in my build following over the next year or so
  8. I now have a plan of action for my build, i need to remove the old mac stand offs and alter the rear of the case to fit my IO plate for my asus board, then i am going to clean it up and apply a etch primer and spray paint it matte black, then fit all my hardware. i have tested my board and cpu and they check out fine and i have looked at a baseline price for some components on nz.pcpart picker.com (http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/p/D7nh6h) i am yet to decide my memory or graphics card but there is plenty of time for that.
  9. thing is ram is more asily sourced second hand than a i5 cpu
  10. cpu boss is a general spec as far a performance specs go it is relatively reliable and i have had no problems in the past with it an its been on the mark or not far off with my builds an upgrades
  11. its so worth is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117561 http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-vs-AMD-FX-8350 thats the i5 6600K vs your cpu theyre relatively cheap youd need to source a motherboard with a socket that supports it which isnt too hard
  12. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4690K on paper the 4690K is better it jsut depends if youll be overclocking or not and what the intention of the build is, i personally would go for the 4690K for better quality response for the MAC OS
  13. cheers man ill se what weve got in the new zealand market
  14. Yeah if it came down to it i will run the graphics card of a secondary psu, but i am after basic gaming performance
