  1. Ok great, thanks for the info.
  2. Is the 940M much better than Intel HD Graphics?
  3. OK well thanks anyway. Guess I will have to settle for my tablet!
  4. Hi all, Looking for some advice. I currently have a Surface Pro 1 as my only computer. I used to have a decent gaming PC but I have moved overseas and didn't want to take it with me. The only problem is I'm now finding my SP1 a bit slow when running any more than one program at a time, and also gets quite hot. So I would like to buy a fully fledged laptop. Ideally I'd like it to be approx 15.6" 1080p screen (not touchscreen), so nothing too fancy there. I just want something a bit faster that can play a couple of games but nothing too intense, maybe things like BF1 when it comes out or just sports games like FIFA. Is there anything on the market that could do this for about £300-400? Thanks in advance.
  5. Not sure. Had my eye on the 970 since release, and all of my last few cards have been nVidia. But my very first video card was a Radeon 9800, and I'd love to go back to ATI for nostalgias sake! Will see what the next generation brings before deciding though.
  6. Thanks heaps. I'm more than happy to wait and get a good picture of the best upgrade path to take. Thank you everyone!
  7. Ok guys thanks heaps for the advice. I'll start shopping for a new GPU then! Hopefully I can offset a part of the cost by selling my 660!
  8. Thanks for the quick responses guys! Those are nice cards I have to agree. Would they be a significant upgrade from my 660 OC? Keep in mind I only have a 1080p monitor currently, but I sometimes play racing sims and a 3 monitor setup would be ace!
  9. Hi all, Just looking for some advice from people more learned than myself as to where to go with my current rig. Basic specs are as follows: Intel Core i5 4570 Gigabyte Z87M-D3H 8GB DDR3 Asus GTX 660 Direct CUII OC So basically, I could get a new CPU, like a 4790k or something which would be awesome (retails for about $470 here in Australia) , but then to get value out of it and overclock I would need to add on the cost of a decent cooler. Alternatively, I could upgrade my graphics. I would love to get a second 660 and just SLI them but as far as I'm aware my motherboard only supports Crossfire. So it's either a brand new card (either nVidia or AMD) or buy a new motherboard which supports SLI as well as a second 660. So I'm just after some thoughts. What's the most cost effective option? Thanks in advance!
  10. First card I ever owned was an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. Probably my favourite looking back, from a nostalgic POV.
  11. Hi everyone, Decided to go back to the store and chat to the staff there, who also had no idea. I purchased a new, different model motherboard as I thought this would be the best place to start, and hooray, she works now. I'll take back the faulty motherboard tomorrow for a refund. Thanks to those who assisted.
  12. Ok update: After another 30 minutes the power still cut out. Keep in mind this is happening EXACTLY on 30 minutes, to the second, every time. Very confusing. Have swapped the RAM into the other available DIMM, and the SSD is now in SATA1 port instead of SATA2 like it was before.
  13. Hi guys, Have monitored the temps and they seem fine. Have yet to see it go above 50c (in fact it's idling in the low 30s). Have tried updating to the latest BIOS, 4 minutes until the next 30 minute cycle is up so hopefully she stays on this time.
  14. Hi guys, Just looking for a little assistance. The other day I put a basic PC together for my Dad. Core i3 4340 MSI H87M-E33 4GB Generic DDR3 Samsung Evo 120GB SSD Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The PC seems to run fine except for the fact that exactly every 30 minutes (this has been timed) it loses power and switches off. Not a normal windows shutdown, it just loses power instantly. Any ideas what this could be? I've switched out the PSU and it still seems to do it. Going to try change the RAM stick and have a look around the BIOS for any odd settings. Any help very much appreciated. Cheers.
