  1. My little brother has a Galaxy A13 (Since Nov-22) It's just now started to turn off the bluetooth and wifi when his headphones are connected and listening to music or video. Started happening last night. Troubleshooting steps so far: Does not turn off wifi when bt is disabled and playing music/video Turns off with different known good headphones and playing music/video Does not turn off when not streaming audio but connected to headphones. I'm thinking BT & WiFi are on the same module and the BT glitching is affecting wifi as well? Thanks in advance!
  2. UPDATE 4/5: After taking a sanity break and setting up another spare XP PC, I found out the all the credentials I tried on the PC that still won't accept them work just fine on this new spare. Now that I know that the credentials themselves are ok, what would cause THAT SPECIFIC PC to reject the credentials?
  3. Well, our POS software is dependent on our current setup. We're basically stuck at this point. The database/connections are managed with Pervasive SQL IIRC. POS software is Touchstone 2000 from Dimasys Inc. (now Infor.)
  4. gotcha. I'll give that a shot in the am (more likely after hours cuz, ya know, credentials.
  5. Uhhh... not 100% sure. I wasn't the one that set it up and no one left a manual. It's kinda sad, really. I am just now starting to work on a network architecture degree.
  6. The business relies on a program that's almost as old as I am. POS software is expensive af. Cloud-based stuff is like $100/license/month, minimum 10 licenses.
  7. I failed to mention that this is an issue on an XP machine. I can't enable SMB1 on our internet connected devices, unless that's all they can run.
  8. I have not! Gimme a bit and I'll report back the results.
  9. I'm in the middle of mapping a network drive, when the server (server 2003) rejects my credentials. I went to double-check that I typed it in correctly, confirmed that it was correct, still rejecting my credentials. I try another employee's credentials (I'm the IT guy of a company of 8 employees) and it accepts theirs. I checked the server (in-person) and could not find anything in the logs that really stand out to me, no errors reported. I checked the credential manager, confirmed that mine were still registered, and looked to see if anything had been changed (it had not.) It showed that I was not logged in and that I hadn't since the last time I has to do this. Any ideas? I'm stumped. Thanks in advance!
  10. Didn't think of that. Thanks. Although, it'll have to be done after hours since the temp machine is in use. Aaaaaand I have about 20k other things to do after work. Yay for having literally NO BUDGET!
  11. Any time I boot up the PC and try to transfer the files to a usb, the PC instantly restarts. If I can get an adapter, I can use my workstation (running Windows 11) to scan for any issues, copy important data, etc..
  12. This would normally be my first thought. However, there is a lot of important data on the FUBAR'd PC. I'll need an IDE to usb adapter to pull the important stuff off of it first, then I'll probably install a fresh copy of XP Integral on the old one. Makes installing drivers on an OLD Dimension 3000 much easier than a fresh XP Pro install.
  13. Finding drivers again is gonna be fun. I've been pushing the boss to get new (or at least new to us) PC's for a while. The HDD's are all IDE The worst part of the drivers dying is using internet. It's so slow loading webpages and internet is critical in our line of work. Thankfully, for the time being, I have a spare lying around until I can figure out what to do with the effed up one.
  14. One of our old workstations suddenly rebooted with no BSOD or errors. Upon logging back in, all previously connected hardware is now showing as "New Hardware Detected." It's now running even slower than before (I know, it's XP, but it was better than it is now.) Any idea of what could've caused this? I'm leaning towards malware. They're running XP and old, outdated AV.
  15. I did all that overnight and it's still not seeing the virtual NIC. Would VMWare be easier to operate?
  16. I have spoken to someone in the LTT Discord. They thought the same thing. After some investigation, I found that the ethernet controller never installed properly, so it wasn't able to ping the gateway, ipconfig showed no network adapters. But I am having trouble getting the driver into the VM. Every time I try to drag and drop the file to the VM, it crashes the VM. I've tested other files and they have worked fine. It seems the ONE file I need to get it working crashes the VM
  17. Good Afternoon and Happy Monday Pt. 3! I have a server VM installed on a server that is supposed to link workstations to it to run our point-of-sale software. (Keep in mind this software is exceedingly old, about 20-ish years old. 16-bit, runs on DOS.) We cannot afford new software and we don't have enough people that use that software to even purchase a new system. The workstations use Pervasive SQL to communicate with the server which runs TouchStone 2000 (Made by Dimasys, now Infor.) They do not support the software anymore, so they cannot help. Btrieve is also involved somewhere in the process. I have set up a closed test network and set up the server in a VM (since it's 16-bit. Can't run on 64-bit systems.) Used VirtualBox to host the server VM using a bridged network setup to make it appear as though it's a physical machine on the network. The workstations must map the POS software folder to a network drive (T: to be specific.) I cannot see the homegroup the server VM should be broadcasting. The network destination should look like \\2003weav\d Once I can get the D drive networked to the workstation, everything else should be more-or-less Plug-and-Play. If someone is more familiar with old Windows workgroups, I could really use some advice.
  18. Dammit. Quantum computing needs to hurry up so I can wreck our corporate overlords' encryption!! /s Nonetheless, I had a feeling. Thanks!
  19. I have a spare server I'm not using. Is there a way to cache some of my streaming services (ie. HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix) for a rainy day? Especially if I am having an internet/power outage or slow internet (I have cable internet, so sometimes slows down during peak usage hours.) I know you can do this with services like Steam, Origin, & Ubisoft. I have my doubts, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Possibly something like an Edge-CDN? (Might have that wrong.) Thanks in advance for any advice!
  20. see my comment below: The owner is my father-in-law. I've seen their income. They take 1 check per quarter just to maintain their tax stuff. I make WAY more than them. All their personal stuff was paid off years ago. They're just really good with their money and pay their employees living wages. It's more likely that we're getting snuffed out by corps due to inability to compete. Yeah. I'm going for my IT degree next year. Boss wanted to pay for it.
  21. Anything over $1k is a major strain lol any old PC we can find to run XP. It's likely if we are ever absolutely forced to upgrade to a new system, we'll likely shut down. That being said: we'll likely need new networking hardware for "new" internet connected PC's. Sorry if I sound like I'm trying to argue. I'm just exhausted from overworking and doing the jobs of 4 people.
  22. Level 1, just enough to stay in business with our main customer. We literally cannot afford to go any higher. That's what I am planning to do. I was mainly contemplating a way to lower the amount of maintenance work, using cheaper hardware rather than having to purchase a "new" PC every time they go out. Since we are on the MS Gulf Coast, our warehouse PC's are constantly dying due to overheating.
  23. Sorry for the late reply. We need to conform to CMMC standards (I wanna say it's the same as NIST SP 800-171) and our POS Software cannot be upgraded and cannot be on the same network as our internet-connected devices. I wanted to consolidate hardware and possibly use our pre-existing PC's as "terminals" (although I'm not sure how we could do that, no formal IT training, yet) I am the IT team. So if I can make my job easier while also having to do sales, cs, management, and so on, I'd like to. These new standards a nightmare for small businesses. We have a VERY limited budget. Some of our current hardware had to come out of my pocket. This new system could likely kill our company. I'm just racking my brain and the hivemind's for options and solutions.
  24. Okay. I have a better sense of direction that I need to go. Thanks a bunch for your help! If I have any more questions, can I dm you?
  25. Actually, earlier last year, we switch website providers and got a sweet deal on G Suite.
