  1. I'm not sure if I installed windows in UEFI boot mode, but I installed windows 10 from a usb recently. There is no boot manager so I assume it must be a non EFI installation. I choose the disk for bootup but I get flashing underscores with no windows (meaning no bootable device found apparently) and that's it. Thanks for any help with this.
  2. Should this come up as one of the bootable device in the bios? Have not found anything like that in the bios. Thanks for the help
  3. Hi. A couple of weeks ago I upgraded my entire computer. Been using windows 10 fine. I usually leave my computer to sleep, but last night when I turned it off completely it wouldn't boot up at all. Booting into the SSD shows flashing underscores followed by a black screen. I know that the windows and SSD are fine because when I plug in my SSD into another computer, my version of Windows works fine. I've googled this issue a lot and everyone's solution comes down to enabled CSM in the bios, which has not worked for me. I'll attach of photo of what this looks like. The motherboard I am using is TUF B360-PRO. In my opinion it should be some setting or something wrong with the motherboars since I know my SSD works in another computer. Please let me know if there is any other relevant information to give, and thanks soo much for anyone that can help... Quite a desperate situation.. Cheers Ps. Specs are: Motherboard Asus tuf b360-pro CPU: i5 8400 Gpu: gtx 660 Power supply: Corsair cx 650M Ram: Ddr4 8gb SSD Samsung 850 evo
  4. Hey. My friend's mam is going to the US, and the plan is to get a moto g2 there because the price is lower than here in Ireland. Here is the bestbuy link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/motorola-moto-g-2nd-generation-cell-phone-unlocked-u-s-version-black/9055007.p?id=1219387046337&skuId=9055007 It says unlocked, so that should be good but I'm wondering if (US version, in the title) has any effect or any chance of not working in local operators or anything. Thanks
  5. @Tycho @tomlambert01 @cishnureddy17 Thanks for the help. It seems like it's a lot easier to buy just 2 cables separately and run them through. My only final question is that if these 2 cables are running next to each other for part of the house, can this cause any intereference or anything? Thanks again
  6. Hey guys, I really lack knowledge in this area. I'm trying to get ethernet wired internet to both mine and my dad's computer. Instead of running to cables through the entire house, would it make sense to buy a splitter like one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-X-Ethernet-Splitter-Rj45-Adaptor-Cat5-6-Pc-Connector-Network-LAN-Pc-Plug-UK-/351183721619?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item51c42e5493 First off I am a bit puzzled about how this works... in fact you simply plug a normal ethernet into it (which is supposed to be made for 1 ethernet connection) and magically divides into 2? Can 1 cable really send signal for what's 2 computers? Also, does this have any effect on signal strength? A consistent internet connection is the reason we are doing this after all.. Are there any downsides to doing this? Or should I just buy 2 separate ethernet cables and separately connect them to our PCs. Thanks very much guys
  7. Thank you so much for all of the videos! it's been a long ride and I've come from knowing nothing about computers to being at least knowledgable in many areas!
  8. Hey guys, building a new system and I wanna have someone who knows what they're doing to say that everything is in order here Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-Z87-HD3 https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Intel+Core+i5-4670K+3.40GHz+%28Haswell%29+Socket+LGA1150+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=55828 processor - i5-4670K https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Intel+Core+i5-4670K+3.40GHz+%28Haswell%29+Socket+LGA1150+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=55828 RAM - 8GB muskin https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/RAM/DDR3/Dual+Channel+1600MHz/8GB+Mushkin+Enhanced+BlackLine+Frostbyte+%23996995+%282x4GB%29+1600+%28PC3-12800%29+240-Pin+DDR3+SDRAM+CAS+9-9-9-24+1.5V+?productId=44336 case - NZXT H230 https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/NZXT+H230+Classic+Silent+Midtower+Case+White+?productId=60666 gpu - saphire 280X http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/AMD+Radeon/Radeon+R9+280/Sapphire+Radeon+R9+280X+Dual-X+OC+AMD+Graphics+Card+-+3GB+?productId=57840 monitor - LG IPS https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/LG+24MB35PY+24%22+Inch+Widescreen+IPS+LED+Monitor+?productId=60103 HDD - 2tb toshiba https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/2TB+Toshiba+DT01ACA200+3.5%22+SATA+III+Hard+Drive+-+HDD+?productId=54258 First off, I kinda just chose that motherboard because I saw it first. I have no idea if it's good for overclocking or if it is even the right letters for z87, z97 etc. Secondly, I don't know what kind of psu to get. I know the CX series are at good prices but how much wattage do I need? Also, are there any parts that I could save on? maybe overkill or equivalent cheaper alternatives? thanks a lot guys
  9. yes, it's B,G,N as far as I remember. And I am about 15-20 metres from the wifi point, with 2 walls in between. I guess I will be looking for a cable then, thanks
  10. Hey, I play competitive vidya games so getting ping spikes is really really frustrating... It's just an hour a day that I need decent connection. So my internet is actually ok, it seems like I get lag spikes when the other computer in the house is doing something. I've done extensive testing on this. I have tried doing QOS on my cisco router but that setting doesn't exist there... I have tried a few different tests. Most importantly, set up a web page to automatically reload every 5 seconds on my computer, and try and play. Results are that I haven't gotten a single lag spike above 100 ping. Now repeat this, but have the same webpage reload on the other computer. Suddenly I am getting very often lag spikes. I am going to make some conclusions about this and you guys can tell me if I am right. Firstly, my internet speed is not a bottleneck since reloading on my own computer couldn't make the game lag. Secondly, to me it seems like the problem is therefore wifi interference. Both of these computers are over wifi. I should note that the other computer isn't loading videos or anything. Just loading a lot of ebay sites with pictures. So this is the only explanation I can think of. Please let me know if it could be something else. In addition, i downloaded a program on the other computer called Netbalancer. My idea was to make 50kb/s the max speed which made pics load really slow but drastically decreased ping spikes and made them rarer. This isn't a permanent solution and so I am wondering if buying ethernet would fix this problem. As a student, it's not easy to throw away money like that, especially considering it might take a 30m or even longer cable to run it to my room. Thanks for your help guys!
  11. Ah yes sorry, I realise what you meant by your previous post now. Ok, I'll just go with the g3220 and the h81 board. Thanks very much for your help
  12. So I think i mostly made my choice on the combination and this is assuming a GPU upgrade from the 9800gt in maybe the next year. CPU - g3258 (it's on sale and happens to be only 6 pounds more expensive than the g3220, I assume it's better, from what I can see 3.2Ghz instead of 3.0) - http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Intel+Pentium+K+Anniversary+G3258+Socket+LGA1150+Processor+?productId=6106 MOTHERBOARD - the gigabye micro atx one that was mentioned above. My only question is that g3258 is haswell, right? and haswell should have Z87 or whatever the number is. But it doesn't state it in the description. Is that important? It just says H81, what does that mean? http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/Intel+Socket/Socket+1150+-+Intel+H81/Gigabyte+GA-H81M-H+%28Socket+1150%2FH81+Express%2FDDR3%2FS-ATA+600%2FMicro+ATX%29+?productId=61157 RAM - I figured the cheapest 4gb from a decent brand will do. Does this look ok from crucial? http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/RAM/DDR3/Single+Modules/Crucial+Ballistix+Sport+4GB+%281x4GB%29+DDR3+PC3-12800+C9+1600MHz+Single+Module+?productId=55091 Again, I'm hugely thankful for your help guys. Making this way easier for me
