  1. Check out my most recent post about my success with finding good parts for cheap.
  2. So I just wanted to give everyone an update on my build and my hopes to build a budget oriented pc with a gtx 970... and the crazy part is that ... i did and it gets even better! I actually looked around for a some used parts and found quite a bit and that helped keep me at a decent budget especially for the build. Here are the specs: 4790k EVGA Gtx 970 Reference H105 Cooler Asus z79-AR mobo 256gb samsung ssd 1tb hdd spec 02 case TP Link Wifi Card cx750m etc.... I ended up spending just about $800 Yeah...im surprised that i found all the parts i wanted at such a crazy cheap price used around town!
  3. Is it worth waiting for Sky Lake chips to release before purchasing some parts for a build? I am thinking of waiting just for the previous gen items to drop in price a bit.
  4. From all the builds, i think i like this one the best. I'll probably save up for another 1-2 months and have a better budget at hand. Is it worth waiting for sky lake chips? I know it wont be that much of an upgrade to performance, but with it, you get price drops on previous gen CPU's. Also dx12 coming out should be interesting as well.
  5. Hello everyone, Simple question and open for suggestions and inputs. Is it possible to stay in budget ($600-700 USD) for a good gaming pc, but the bulk of the funds going toward a gtx 970 and a good cpu? Let me know. BTW, I have a microcenter not too far( 1.5 hr drive) from me and I know their CPU prices are incredible.
  6. This is exactly what i wanted to know. I will most likely get a decent gpu and use that even though the x4 910 is a bottleneck. Eventually, Ill save up some more and have enough $$$ for the rest of the build.
  7. How much of a boost in performance would there be between the R9 290 and the 380? I can go plus or minus $20-30 if it's going to be a big difference.
  8. Hey everyone, So I'm getting an older HP computer from a friend that isn't too bad. I want to repurpose it for gaming. Current Specs: AMD Phenom II X4 910 Quad Core 8 gb DDR3 WD Green I was thinking about picking up a Radeon 280x or some GPU in the $120-140 price range and use that for gaming. Will this work? or will the CPU just be a bottleneck for the entire system? I play games such as BF3, Skyrim, Smite, GTA5, etc.
  9. Hello everyone, It's been a very long time since I've built my last pc. Last I remember, GTX 480's were the top of the game, so yes I am quite out of the loop of new tech. Would you please recommend me a good budget pc build around the $500(without OS) price point. At this price point I don't know if I should be going AMD or Intel. Thank you everyone!
  10. I plan to stay on AT&T because I have a family share plan going. As for CL, I've done many deals on CL and i'm confident on how to approach it all. Since I plan on staying on AT&T , i don't necessarily need an unlocked phone. As of right now, I think i'll probably try and find one off CL for a good price.
  11. Hey guys, So my contract with AT&T is now over and I would like to upgrade to new phone. I am pretty dead set on the iphone 6(please do not try and convince me of other devices). The question I have is, should I sign a contract and pick up the iphone 6 for discounted price, or find one on Craigslist and not sign contract? The reason this is in question is because AT&T has changed their plans, so when your contract is over, the price for data is discounted by like $25 a month. Let me know what you think. Heres the link to their new data plan prices: http://www.zdnet.com/article/how-much-does-an-iphone-6-really-cost-hint-its-way-more-than-199/
  12. Honestly I dont have anything bad to say against the Nexus 5. For me the best pure Android phones right now are the Nexus devices and the OnePlus One. The dimensions are very similar with the Note lineup and iPhone 6 plus, that is why I said the Nexus 6 is same size basically. It all falls under the Phablet category for me.
  13. Here are a few arguments I have back: Nexus 5 is not slower than the iphone. It would say they are on par. Iphone 6 has 1 Gb ram, while the Nexus 5 has 2gb. Also the nexus 5 has a quad core CPU, while iphone only has the dual core. I do agree with single threaded performance, but once you start multitasking, additional cores help quite a bit. Nexus 6 battery life will improve as Google makes updates to their Lollipop firmware. Its got a 3200 MAh battery, which will give you longer life than the iphone 6. Also, keep in mind the Nexus 6 has a 2650 x 1440p quad HD display... As for color accuracy, i agree. The iphone would be best of the three for best picture accuracy. But it also has a small resolution and PPI. Camera quality is something nice, but not my main concern.
  14. The Nexus 6 is the same size as the galaxy note 4 and the iphone 6+ ....its enormous...
  15. The Nexus 6 and the Nexus 5 will be running the exact same OS....exactly the same...Lollipop 5.0 My only concern is the size of the phone(its huge... 6in screen) plus the price is double that of the Nexus 5
