  1. WoodenMarker, going back to "in which the system only recognizes 2TB" I read into this limitation and found about the GBT Disk Partitioning System which recognises 3TB. The UEFI BIOS system must be used for this, if the GBT drive is to be used a boot drive. (Source of this info Quoted & linked below) So I can have a 3TB system HDD with a 120GB Scratch disk SDD as mentioned in the Parts list on PCPartPicker.com you provided. The UEFI BIOS can be installed on either 990FX Motherboard mentioned in this thread, so it looks good, thanks for the help. Also thanks Dudenstein for the idea of a SSD scratch disk, can't believe I forgot that. Also it could be used to help a few PC gamers out with their Community Youtube channels if they need an extra player for extra footage. "GUID Partition Tables (GPT) can define drives larger than 2.2TB. You can use GPT today on any Windows 7 and Vista system as a non-booting data drive. Windows can only boot a GPT partition on a new type of BIOS called UEFI. UEFI BIOS desktop systems are new since 2011. Windows 7 64-bit and Vista 64-bit operating systems support booting from UEFI and GPT without the need of a non-Microsoft device driver. This is the Windows native solution for booting a 3TB drive to a single partition." (from here)
  2. Very nice changes there, all very good, with the displays I did find H236HLB mjd (EU equivalent to Acer H236HL bid) for £10 more here, although the price occasionally goes down every 2-3 weeks below £140 by £10-£20. hmmm, that's worth thinking about with RAM & HDDs, and thanks for the warning with the system recognition issue. Oh yeah I will be getting better a 700 series at one point within a year, hopefully.
  3. Already using it, fantastic website, was tempted to use the BBCode Markup feature and copy & paste into my post. So would you say the picked GPU makes the spec unbalanced right now? could bottlenecking occur? I'm on a mid-2009 Macbook Pro (upgraded to 8GB RAM) right now and my old Custom PC is slower than it and make need another OS reinstall soon to get some speed out of it. 2x8GB I want to get but I'm having trouble finding compatible sticks for the Sabertooth 990FX motherboard that can be O/C. I like the SSD scratch drive but a lot thinking about getting 2 at RAID 0 as a system SSD and turning the 3TB into a scratch drive.
  4. I am going to be using Adobe Creative Suite & 3DS Max 2012 and I want a decent GPU for now so I can save up for a faster and better one in the future. Is it worth not spending on one other part now to get a better GPU or get a decent card to get a better one in the future? Also any other issues?
  5. Hey, I have been watching Linus Tech Tips for 2 months now after being linked to the . Great videos and live streams, great knowledge base for PC building from what I have seen. Budget: £1400 Location: London, UK Aim: I have finished university and I am going to focus more on video production which will include 3D work from time-to-time. So I want a quiet, video production build with future proofing in mind. I mainly play MineCraft but the focus of this build needs to be for Video Production, although the upcoming games I am planning to play are Total War: Rome II, Civ5, COH2, GTAV, Battlefield 4, Saints Row 4, maybe Titanfall. Monitors: 2 for now but eventually a 3-screen bezel layout for workplace efficiency. Peripherals: I am okay for Keyboard & Mice for now, but I am thinking about the Razer Deathadder 2013 because I owned the original before I was robbed. For a keyboard, maybe Ducky Shine II keyboard with Cherry MX Brown keys, even the Shine III coming soon. For the software I am aiming to get Windows 7 Professional instead of Home Premium so I have the option to get 32GB RAM or more. Why upgrading? I got a custom PC from PCSpecialist nearly 10 years ago and it has aged a lot, so it won't handle video production tasks and even Company of Heroes 1. A future-proof orientated build is necessary so I can upgrade when I can to spend more on one part than a few compatible ones. Latest Initial Build: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor (Hyper-threading an advantage for video production and future of gaming processing) Noctua NH-U12P SE2 54.4 CFM CPU Cooler (40mm CPU clearance & quiet) Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (more reliable than formula) G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (40mm height) Toshiba 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive EVGA GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card Asus Xonar DSX 24-bit 192 KHz Sound Card (don't want to reply on the on-board sound card) NZXT Phantom (White/Red) ATX Full Tower Case (gorgeous case, fell in love) NZXT Air Flow Series 83.6 CFM 140mm Fan (related to the red trim) NZXT FS-200RB-RLED 89.5 CFM 200mm Fan (related to the red trim) NZXT HALE 90 850W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (reliable & efficient) Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer (just in case) Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) (RAM can be 32GB or more) 2x Acer H236HLBmjd 23 inch Widescreen IPS LED Monitors (thin edges, good for bezel layout) Any help would be greatly appreciated, been researching to make this good for nearly 2 months now. First time building my own PC, so I'm nervous but have a year of ICT experience to be sure to build one for myself.
