  1. should it be 1.46v on idle? because asus Chrosshair 8 hero latest bios pushes cpu that far, i've set manual of 1.3v, is stock voltage better than my set one?
  2. Is windows reinstall strictly required when changing the platform?i know it's needed but is it strictly needed or something that can be lived on with? going from i7 6700k and z170 to r9 3900x and x570...
  3. Its an Asus Crosshair 8 Hero (non wifi) model, will it be a problem if i update bios one by one - just to make sure?
  4. so i'm waiting for cpu to arrive and was wondering for past week or so - should i update bios one by one, or i can skip to newest version, cannot find it specified anywhere (i believe that there was a video on youtube where a guy updated bios from old one to newest one and it wasn't posting) and motherboard probably has first release bios because i've got it in 2019 august but due to cpu shortage could not get my hands on using it... thanks.
  5. But tried on friends desktop with 3700x and results were double or more the encoding speed over my i7 6700k @ 4.2ghz
  6. i doubt it since software is not public available (i got it from from other forum where people encode videos) or atleast entering it's name to google gives nonsence results...
  7. not using handbrake nor adobe premiere for hevc encoding but got the general idea
  8. which has better price to performance ratio? which gets higher all core clock speed when used to 100% ?
  9. so my brother has tv (smart tv - sort of) which sits on same network as his desktop pc, would it be possible to connect them without having wifi or chromecast? windows have built in cast function - but problem is when we try playing HEVC or x265 movie it plays video but not audio or subtitles for it, movies play fine via vlc or mpc-hc players - mpc-hc does not have cast function, meanwhile vlc does have but it requires chromecast, and only chromecast that plays x265 mkv files is chromecast ultra - costing around 90usd....
  10. Hello i recently bought Crosshair 8 Hero motherboard and ram as i wait for Ryzen 3900x or 3950x to appear at stock, i wanted to know which m.2 slot is directly connected to the cpu and which goes via chipset, i would think the one closest to cpu is directly connected but that was not the case with Chrosshair 7 Hero where bottom slot was connected to the cpu and top one was via chipset.... thus got me wondering which slot now is connected directly to the cpu?
  11. around 130 great british rupees for that kit, as for 3000Mhz CL15 i already have them on my system
  12. Which RAM stick's would do better with ryzen 3000 series cpu DDR4 3000Mhz C15 i currently have (Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 8gb from SK Hynix A-Die + 2 x 8gb from Samsung B-Die) or new Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600Mhz 2 x 8gb kit with CL18? I heard Ryzen likes faster memory and 3600 is sweetspot unlike intel i have now which does not care but, going from 2133Mhz to 3000Mhz gave me an additional +20 fps in most games (i don't know why).
  13. So i do video encoding (compression) with x265 or HEVC codec while using specific application (Video and Audio Frontend Encoder) previously been using sata SSD (Samsung 850 Evo) for past 2 years, recently bought NVMe SSD (Samsung 970 Evo) and did a fresh windows newest version install i got off usb drive when made using media creation tool (windows was activated already since key is tied to motherboard) i set everything according to my liking and like windows 10 was before SSD change, since i do video encoding with x265 it takes a load of time for my oldie overclocked i7 6700k, i like doing it at night, so i set to turn off my monitor after 1 minute, also enabled in razer software to turn off pheripheral lighting when monitor turns off (or goes to sleep) the next morning i wake up only to find out that my pc restarted hence the login screen present, what could be causing it? before there was no such problem, can it be that i run my nvme ssd at x2 pcie 3.0 speed rather than x4 - reason is my cpu gives 16 lanes straight to gpu, and chipset z170 gives x4 lanes but i also have sourdcard which needs x1 lane so im short on 1 pcie 3.0 lane that's why i use ssd at x2 speed since if i set it to x4 all other ports x1 and x4 gets cut off and can't detect sound card anymore....
