  1. Thanks guys, just called EVGA and they're sending a replacement soon. Thanks again everyone, you're why I come here.
  2. Hey everyone, So I recently heard about the issues with the EVGA FTW cards having faulty VRM cooling. Basically a few days after Jay's video came out my graphics card has been acting strangely. All videos, regardless of where they come from, including GIF's will have weird black artifacts all around the top half of the video. Rewinding the video fixes it, but it is still a very frequent issue. This hasn't affected my gameplay though. At least, not until yesterday. Yesterday I started up the witcher 3 and now I have these huge white lines across the left hand side of my screen. I now find this in every full screen game that I play. My latest attempt was space engineers. To make things even stranger, I can literally screen cap and the issue is caught on the image (pictures attached). I feel like this might be an issue with the latest drivers. Basically I'm just asking for advice. Could this be a problem with the most recent driver update, or do I have to RMA my card? Thanks everyone.
  3. I'm buying a new cpu and don't really know where to go for it. I can always just get it on amazon and cut out the middle man but there's also this site called silicon lottery: https://siliconlottery.com/products/4790k47g. Its a place where they test all the chips and bin them within certain clock speeds at a certain voltage. I just haven't really heard much about them and am not sure if I want to put my credit card on a site that's this obscure. What do you guys think? Should I buy from the siliconlottery.com or just play the real silicon lottery?
  4. Seeing as though my 1070 had to be RMA'd on friday of last week.. nope.
  5. How would I go about deleting that? I wouldn't even know how to begin. Thanks for the help by the way, I'm just unsure where to be looking.
  6. Nope, its been completely bricked. Won't even display the boot code. It just completely black screens. I think I may have to RMA this card because I really don't think it was me attempting to OC it that busted the card.
  7. I'm on it fam, I'll uninstall and see if I can get anything to even run. Thanks.
  8. I just tried the once but as soon as MSI afterburner started up and I went into the settings to change the UI my system crashed immediately and I had to switch out graphics cards for it to boot again.
  9. Thanks, I'm looking more into it and it appears it may be driver 368.39 thats done it but nobody can find a viable solution as far as I can tell.
  10. I tried overclocking my graphics card but I couldn't change the voltage. I just thought "meh, I'll just overclock it anyways" and so I overclocked the mhz to 2100 on my MSI Gaming X 1070 and just started playing games (Well I did some benchmarking first). Well it wasn't super stable but I just sort of went with it (crashes in valley after 30 minutes) and I played witcher 3 on ultra no problem for hours on end. Eventually I played Rome Total War 2 for the first time and put all the graphics settings on as high as I could put em and my computer crashed. It then would not boot back up. Absolutely refused to. Sometimes it would display the loading screen and then crash, sometimes it wouldn't display anything. Eventually I put my old EVGA 970 back in and it booked just fine. I uninstalled afterburner because I didn't want it to try to OC my card again. I then placed my MSI 1070 back in after that and it booted just fine which I was relieved about. I then reinstalled afterburner (just for the monitoring and fan speed changing) and then the computer crashed again and won't reboot. I'm pretty sure I've bricked my graphics card but I'm not sure how or why or what to do regarding this. I literally just got this card on Tuesday.
  11. So I am attempting to overclock my brand new (just got it today) MSI Gaming X 1070 and I updated MSI afterburner to the beta version so I could unlock the voltage since I couldn't before I did that. Now that the voltage bar is unlocked I'm messing around with it and regardless to whether I set it to 0% or 100% the voltage stays constant at 1.03v. Now this can't be right and there must be something wrong here. I have a 1000w platinum psu, msi z97 g45 mobo, i5 4690k and the most recent version of msi afterburner. Any suggestions on what to do or how to fix? I'm getting a decently stable 2.1 ghz OC with stock voltage but I can't imagine what I'd get if I could unlock the voltage. Amendment: The voltage will go anywhere from 1.025 to 1.06 on a whim and there does not seem to be any consistency.
  12. That sounds completely reasonable and thanks for all the help man you made this build 1000 times easier. Thanks again man you've been awesome.
  13. Alright thank you very much you've been a ton of help. Just one last question if you don't mind; how many fittings will I need for this if I choose to go with the pump/res combo a cpu cooler and single 480 rad?
  14. Jesus dude thanks so much. I just have a couple questions about all this. Is it better to have a pump/res combo or just get them separate? Also if I do go for the combo will I need an extra res or pump to make sure everything goes through correctly or I have enough liquid? Another question which is more of a statement: I believe that the coolant you showed is actually dye and what kind of coolant should I be looking to use. Also what about biocide? Will the fittings all match with the tubing?
  15. Thanks for the reply man To be honest I'll probably be building this after the 1080 has been out for a while so I'd want to know how many rads I would need for cpu + gpu combo. I heard a good rule of thumb is 240mm per component which seems to be your idea with the single 480. Would it be better to buy a single 480 or to get multiple 240s? And as for theme, probably black/metallic with dark blue liquid (cant imagine any of that would be unreasonable). But I am getting full noctua industrial 3000 pwm fans so I'm really not too worried about it all matching 100% perfect. I'm looking for performance over aesthetic but I still do care about aesthetic.
