  1. Thank you! I was able to update the cooler type to a 'Box' cooler as it appears on my BIOS. It did limit the power down but to 241w, and it's still too hot - so i went the advanced mode. After some digging/searching I saw there was a 'long and short duration power limit' so it seems these are the ones I need to update. I manually entered 125 on the long duration power limit and yes, drawing 125w when rendering. Thank you!!!! EDIT: i just cant believe this is the defaults now....coming from a 95w CPU.
  2. Greetings! I have a 12900k that I recently upgraded to a few months back. I've left everything at defaults except XMP. Fast forward today, I decided I'll run some tests and noticed that on high, multi-threaded workloads, the temps go as 100 deg C. it does throttle, but it never shut down, so I assume my cooler can handle up to a point that it can prevent a reset. I looked at reseating the cooler, checking if the film is still there as I bought it with the CPU, maxing all fans, but still get those high temps. on gaming, it's normal, about 70-80 Deg C. Checking HWinfo, I noticed that the power draw of the chip itself is a staggering 240-260w. This is a default setting, and CPU-Z shows the Max TDP is 125w, even at Intel ark, the base power is 125w. Is there an option in the BIOS I can update to reflect what the Intel Spec should be? Mobo: MSI Z690-A PRO Cooler: MSI MAG Core P360 OS: Windows 11 Thanks and warm regards,
  3. Yes, you're right, it's the other things. I don't think this is even an upgrade lol, as the 9900k is just an 8700k with 2 more cores. Though for the current tasks I'm doing, I'm heavily maxing out the 8700k quickly with the 16gb ram. And the 9900k was my cheapest option for more threads. And yeah, I don't overclock, though I did tried it on my 8700k for fun.
  4. Would you good people recommend a stronger fan for my Corsair H150i Pro? I'm still using the default ML fans that runs at 1600rpm max.
  5. Thank you, i read this as well, thus i have monitoring for the VRMs too using AIDA 64. Software monitoring is the best i got lol.
  6. Greetings! I just updated my rig from an 8700k with 16gb 2666mhz to an i9 9900k with 32gb 3200mhz. I chose not to replace the z370 motherboard as it can run the 9900k. I see that unless I turned off all the power limits on the mobo, my 9900k won't boost to 4.7ghz all the time (stays at 4.5-4.6 which is still faster than 4.3 on my 8700k). After turning off the power limits on the motherboard, the 9900k now stays is turbo speed unless it thermal throttles. On Cinebench, my 9900k could run up to 90 degrees C and about 70-80 degrees C on demanding online/multiplayer games. I'm still using my H150i PRO to cool. Just wanna game some input if the above temps are acceptable for a no OC 9900k. Thank you and regards,
  7. Thank you! I've been long Anonymous and was looking for a team and found LTT back in the years. I will have a look on those shiny badges! Thanks again!
  8. Thanks for the response and feedback! and Yes! folding for LTT all the way! \m/
  9. My PSU (AX860i) is out of warranty and a screw fell inside. After minutes of shaking, it was a no go so i disassemble. Forgot the plastic stuff and misplaced it. Temps are quite high, at 42.50'C on full system load - 450W, I might be killing it as I type this (Gaming, OC'ing) This happened about a year ago. Lesson: don't misplace parts when you disassemble - take pics if need be
  10. Greetings! I recently update my chassis from an open air (TT Core P3) to the Carbide 275Q. I understand that my temps would increase significantly, but wondering if some folks have same config as mine (ATX form). - I have a H100i Pro as intake on front - cooling an Intel 8700K 5ghz@1.425v - GTX 1070 ti Hybrid rad at back as intake as well - overclocked - all fans on radiators are in PULL - RAM is 3000mhz @ 1.35V - Corsair AX860i PSU fan is facing up (facing GPU), Zero Fan mode is DISABLED - fan always spins - all HDD cages are occupied - no other case fans installed - top panel is in place Thermal testing: Folding@Home 2hrs: - CPU: 84-87'C avg, about 93'C spike - GPU: 54'C - PSU: 42.50'C - RAM: 49'C, 48'C - MOBO: 38'C (I am assuming this is, or close, to the ambient temp inside the case) - H100i PRO: 39.70'C I really don't mind the heat on CPU/GPU as long as there's no throttle (which there isn't even after 3hrs of test) I am just wondering if other folks have similar set up on an ATX form factor. Also if you see something ALARMING (except GPU/CPU as I expect them to be hotter due to a close case set up) please let me know. I am really not sure what the thermal limits on other components. Thank you and regards, EDIT: Tips! yes Tips, suggestions, violent reactions are very welcome! Thank you! EDIT2: I have a 40mm fan blowing air on the Mobo VRM.
  11. CPU-Z says the correct clock speeds as per BIOS (5ghz) so as HWMonitor. Then I may be doing something destructive here at 125 BCLK....uh-oh Thank you!
  12. Greetings! Windows 10 Home's task manager is reading the CPU clock speed as if it is at the default BCLK of 100.00 Is this normal? Or is there a work around on this? I always use CPU-Z and/or HWMonitor to check clocks but I just stumbled upon this one and it kick the OCD hard. My current setting on BIOS for the CPU is: 8700K 5ghz (1.425v - 40x125 BCLK) <--- yes, it's high, but it's stable so far - so I'll leave it like that Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz (this is OC'd as BCLK changed) <---- I bought sub-par 2666mhz RAM, and this is as high as it could stably get With this setting, TM (and MSI AB) is reading the CPU clock speed @ 4.00 ghz. Thank yooouuu!!!
  13. Greetings! I had a few BSODs happened but they're so random and does not happen when I try to replicate. However, those crashes have same bugcheck code (0x00000d1), and also occurs in default configuration settings. I have a memory dump here. I have done a few driver updates and re-installs but just wanna know what exactly is causing it. Thank you and regards,
  14. My issue did not replicate again after a few days, even with the software I suspect to be the culprit still running. What I did differently is to run folding@home to see if it'll trigger with high loads and a windows 10 update. After those, I decided to perform the task suggested above. I re-seat RAM and GPU, removed the dust-defenders, and only ran MSI after burner as monitoring software (made sure no conflicting software). the monitoring on iCUE is limited to RAM, the corsair coolers and peripherals, mobo, and power supply temps, which MSI afterburner cannot monitor (or I removed from monitor tab). Marked this as solved, as the issue when it initiated, happens almost every day to twice daily. Thank you @Inx and @Boomwebsearch for you assistance!
