  1. I got a Kraken X63 (280mm rad) today. Digging through my spare part boxes to get some accessories for my computer upgrade I relaized I had some old 140mm Corsair fans.I have enough room to do a push pull config in my Corsair 780T. The Corsair fans in Question. AF140 Quiet Edition High Airflow 140mm The fans that are included with the Kraken X63 Just to double check myself I'd want to put the higher static pressure fans (Aer P) underneath the rad and the higher air flow fans (Corsair) above.
  2. I can fit a 360 but that would require me to remove my optical drive which I use to dump movies with (condensing my physical movie collection). Thus the comment of a 240 or 280. The purpose of the thread was to start researching products so I can make an educated by at the time of the 10th gen launch. And I stated previous I want an AIO because of aesthetics over a giant hulking heatsink.
  3. I'm in the process of upgrading my CPU cooling in my case. I'll be getting an AIO cooler likely a 240 or 280. I have a few questions and would like a bit of feed back. How much of a different would 120 vs 140 be for 240 or 280 offer? Will existing water coolers work with the newer Intel Socket 1200? Looking to get the i7-10700K (I understand benchmarks aren't out for this CPU so just use the 9900K as a reference). I don't mind RGB but it isn't required, that stated I rather everything be controlled by my motherboard for RGB and fan speed. I'd like to do light overclocking with the CPU, nothing extreme. I know someone will likely post wanting to provide a cheaper air cooler but I want an AIO because aesthetically it looks cleaner. I'm currently looking at something like this Fractal Design Celsius Plus S28 or the EVGA CLC 240 AIO. Does anyone have any other good recommendations?
  4. So I'm going through my movie and music collection and ripping it to my NAS just to save physical space. I'm ripping my music with FLAC and handbrake for video media. H.264 for DVD content and HEVC for HD content. Does Intel quick sync help much for saving time and producing a smaller file with the same level of quality as the original file? I've tried using my gpu and found the file sizes and quality not up to par with Encoding using my CPU. I have an Intel 7700k and 1070 GTX.
  5. So I have a question about accounts and Harmony Hubs. I'm looking to set up 3 Hubs in my home. One in a room that I've turned into an exercise room with a stationary bike and a TV for Netflix, one in my bedroom and one in my living room. Can I have all three hubs under one account and can each hub have it's own physical remote so that I'm not having to worry about a remote ending up missing or lost between the rooms.
  6. So I'm looking to buy an UPS for my office for my Desktop, monitors, router/modem, and NAS. I currently live in FL and over the summer months I find the power seems to flicker. I'm wanting something more so to provide more surge suppression and keep devices powered on with till I can turn them off, I've already had to replace a router because of this and had the power flicker just long enough for my monitors to display nothing but still have my desktop stay powered on. I'm looking between cyberpower and APC, I'd like to have one that has the front panel LCD. Any suggestions between the two. I've heard that cyberpower units have a higher tolerance for suppression than APC.
  7. So from I understand Intel's 9th gen series of CPUs will be dropping Hyper Threading on the i7 series in favor of having it on the i9. In this day and age is there much benefit in games for having hyper threading? Looking largely for titles like Witcher 3, Final Fantasy XV, Crysis 3, Monster Hunter World.
  8. So I have a dell laptop. What do most laptop users use for their source of laptop drivers. Nvidia's drivers or Dell's Nvidia drivers?
  9. I'm looking to start ripping my DVD and Blu-ray library and would like the newest standard HEVC due to the file size it can produce (I don't mind that it is slower than X264). I'm looking for a program that has a GUI and is simple enough to fly through the set up of what I want. I have been using handbrake but I was curious if there is anything out there that would speed this process up. (Running a i7-7700k and a 1070 GTX).
  10. So was going to upgrade my computer last year, but with the recent death of my old SSD I decided to make preps to upgrade my computer hardware now since I can just start fresh with a new install of Windows 10. Going from an Intel i7-3820 to Intel i7-7700K, ASUS X-79 Deluxe to ASUS Maximus IX Hero. Keeping my BD Drive, Corsair 780T Case, Corsair 1000W PSU and eVGA 1070 GTX. Looking at the new features on this board ASUS Aura Sync caught my eye as I've love to have my case flash random colors for different things or whatever crazy thing I come up with. My question is how do Aura Sync RGB case fans connect to the motherboard, does it get inputs from the motherboard's CHA_FAN connectors or do I need to get an adapter for the RGB_HEADER ports? Also side question, is there any ASUS Aura Sync compatible AIO water coolers on the market yet (if not I think I might go with a Corsair or Cooler Master standard AIO water cooler since I find most of the air coolers a pain to install and offer little benefit over water cooling).
  11. I have a g-sync monitor so yes I have a high refresh rate screen. But I like to use 1080p/1440p60fps as a baseline for how I want my games to run. And I like to least future proof my systems just in case.
  12. I'm I'm pretty much decided on a new GPU to replace my aging 780 GTX. I'm most likely going to get the EVGA 1070. I haven't decided on which model I want, I do want that sexy founder's edition version. Do the cheaper versions of the EVGA 1070 cards offer any better cooling, performance than the founder's? I'm not looking to overclock, I just want a solid card that is quiet and has good cooling. Side note: I tend to skip every other generation of graphics cards when I am upgrading, you think a 1070 GTX would still be playing modern games 3 years from now at 60+ fps at at least 1080p (not upgrading to 4k till I think the price of a quality monitor is worth it) but considering how more optimized games are getting with DX12 and Vulkan I personally think a 1070 GTX will still be running games at a solid frame rate.
  13. So I'm upgrading the router in my house. Not looking for anything too fancy. But something good for streaming, gaming, and NAS functions. I'm looking for the following functions: -Able to fully cover a 1,769 sqft house for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz and not get single drop off. -AC least AC1750 prefer AC1900. -USB port for a printer -VPN functionality. -Price under 170 USD. -Gigabit ports. -Good software and reliability. -Does 1080p streaming. I stream a lot of content from my NAS to my TV. Also how much of an impact would 802.11ac mimo affect performance. I have two cell phones in the house that support that.
  14. I want to have all the parts purchased before the end of August. With the trend with the 1080/1070's launches I don't expect the 1060 to be available and in stock before the end of August. As for the AMD suggestions, I've never had a good experience with AMD cards. As for the bottleneck comments, I'll be honest I frankly don't care. This system isn't going to be running anything at super high framerates or 4k resolutions. 1080/60fps is perfectly fine for me. I think I'll get the 1070 as to not have to worrying about upgrading this machine for the next several years. (I have a 780 GTX at the moment in my current personal rig that I take with me to all my duty stations and it still runs everything at 60fps except for Doom and Witcher 3).
  15. I should specify this rig is NOT geared towards high end gaming. I want to use mid range parts as to extend its life as to not have to upgrade for several years. Its largely going to be used for office use and gaming on the side whenever I'm at home (in the military, PC is going to be at my house).
