Hello.
My PC randomly crashes when I do... anything. From playing games to watching video and working in Word. Not necessarily something stressful.
It started after I dug up my old keyboard (Corsair K65). Its probably unrelated, but it was the first time.
I removed the keyboard. Still crashes.
Reinstalled windows, disassembled the pc, cleaned it, changed thermal paste, reassembled, formatted all disks, Installed fresh Windows, activated prime95, Furmark and CPU burner simultaneously for ~12hours. It was fine.
No crashes, 79C on CPU, 77C on GPU .
Then while I was installing Visual Studio it crashed.
The system isn't new, it's from late 2013.
Intel i7 4970k
MSI Z97 Gaming 3
HyperX Fury 2x8GB DDR3 1866MHZ
Gigabyte GTX 1080 WINDFORCE OC 8G
What else can/should I do/check ?
Thank you in advance.

The pc is going to be a media center in a living room. Purely video streaming and movie viewing. It's for a senior man, so no gaming at all.
i3 9100, 16GB of RAM.
Do I need to buy a didicated gpu for 4k, or will the integrated gpu be sufficient?
Thank you.

not a great choice. I recommended the tuf pro, not tuf gaming
Well, as I have said, choises in my country are limited...

that's a very good psu.
as for motherboard,
asus B450 TUF Pro, B450-E, B450-I,
asrock B450 Pro4, K4, M/AC, Steel Legend, ITX,
gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite (mATX)
any of these
Thanks!
In the and I have bought:
AMD Six Core Ryzen 5 3600X 4.4Ghz AM4 BOX
ASUS TUF B450-PLUS GAMING
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32G (2x16G) DDR4 3200Mhz CL16 Black
Corsair 650W 80+ GOLD RM650X Modular 5 Years WarrantyThanks for your help !

I would change this, as it only has 3 years warranty, and it's probably older than 3 years.
Oh, yeah, thats... an understatment.
In my country the choise is pretty limited.
There are no MSI Tomohawk MoBos. There are almost no MSI board here. The only 2 I cold find IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY are
MSI B450M PRO - VDH V2MSI B450M BAZOOKA PLUS RGB (But it's... far. And few)We have pretty much ASUS/Gigabyte duopoly here. Can you advise something else ?
I can't find 3600 either. It's 3600X only here. But if you say 3600 is sufficient, I'll take the 3600X,
Now I have noticed זכרון - Corsair Vengeance LPX 32G (2x16G) DDR4 3200Mhz CL16 Black. LPX is even better with NH-D15
Also, what's your opinion on Corsair RM550x 550W PSU 80+ Gold Modular ?

what would be your budget? we can help with a full build.
Thanks! But I would be difficult, as price in my country are a bit different. Like, 2000$ is a basic gaming PC over here. And not particulary swanky one.
But I would be happy to hear your opinion - I'll intent to leave my old:
Case: Fractal Desighn Define R5;
PSU: ThermalTake Smart SE 730W Gold;
Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 (although, I need to check how do I mount it.)
HDD: Samsung 1TB 860 EVO, 4TB WD Black;
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1080 WindForce OC
I dont see any reason to upgrade those parts.
As for upgrade,
I'm a bit torn between 3600x and 3700x. It's 2 cores more, but it's 50% more expencive...
MoBo: Gigabyte B450 AORUS ELITE looks nice.
RAM: Corsair Vengeance PRO 32G (2x16G) DDR4 3200Mhz CL16 RGB.
Thats 690 USD with 3600X or 815 USD with 3700X (in my country)
Are those good choices, or if you can advice something better in that price range I'll gladly listen.
Thank you !

would you consider a ryzen 5 3600? it's 6 cores/12 threads. single core performance is similar to a 9600k, while multi core performance is similar to a 8700k. it's also much cheaper
4 hours ago, Tarry Hesticle said:Well you seem kind of set on an Intel build, but since you don't care about gaming 1st or 2nd gen ryzen would definitely be a great value/budget option. Something like a r5 2600 would work great, and you can get a decent b450 mobo for around 80 bucks.
No, I think brand loyalty is a stupid concept, and nothing is set in stone. I'm just used to Intel being the default (as I have said, my knowlage is 6 years old).
Thanks guys, I'll look closely into AMD.

My trusty old Z97 MoBo have died, hinting me that I should finally upgrade.
As someone who have not updated his knowlage on PC parts since buying one in 2014, I need help deciding on new parts.
I'm not a gamer(anymore), I don't care about gaming performace (Even if I do play, it's either on a handheld or ancient crpgs).
I am an engeneering student, and primary reason why I dont just do everything on laptop, is conviniece of 3 monitors. I use mostly text editors. Some AutoCad. So far I have used i7-4790k (without oveclocking it) whith 16GB of RAM, and I never felt a need to upgrade.
I really dont care about estetics, I have a closed silent case anyway. I also dont care about overclocking, I just want to buy new parts, shove my pc under the desk and go back to work. With everything going on, I'm on a tight budget, and pretty price sensetive, But I am willing to pay for a value if I have to.
First question - i5 vs i7 - How big is a value difference between i7-9700k and i5-9600k ? I sea lot of pretty negative reviews of i5, but I don't see why. 6/6 cores seems pretty reasonable, is there something I'm missing ? (i9-9900k is out of the question)
Second question - k vs kf - Is there any difference between k and kf besides lacking of GPU.Considering I do have external GPU, should buy a kf ?
Third question - Z370 vs Z390 - From what I saw, the difference iis USB 3.1 (which is nice to have, but I barely use even ny 3.0) and WiFi (Which I cant stress enough how much I dont care about). From what I have seen, the big difference is that all the fancy versions of MoBos are Z390, but as I need a mobo and no a christmass tree, thats not really a factor. on the other hand, I do value quality. So should I get a Z370 or Z390 ?
Thank you.

Hello.
I need an advise.
I need good and not expensive wireless headphones.
No need in mic, and I don't really care if they are "gaming" branded or not. preferably not.
I know that wired will give better quality audio, but due to way I use them they must be wireless.
I use for music, movies, some gaming. Nothing competitive, not audiophile.
Between 200-300$ USD.
Also, I was advised to get Sennheiser RS165. Are they any good ?
Would be glad to hear advise, thank you.

Grey+Black.
The ssd is the cheapest. Is Intel 540p will be OK ?
I know Samsung is best, but it's kinda expensive.

Intel Pentium G4560 + Stock cooler
Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 2400Mhz CL14
Corsair Force LS 240GB
Corsair 450W Active PFC Modular 80+ Bronze CX450M PSU
Corsair Carbide 200R Black
This is the PC I am going to order. Any corrections ?
(The fact that everything is Corsair is coincidence)

so go for the pentium and spend the money you saved on more ram, it will help if she has lots of tabs open.
Will 8 Gig be enough ?

i3 6100 + cheap h110 mobo OR g4560 + cheap b250 mobo
whichever is cheapest in your region, they're about the same
i3 6100 + cheap h110 - 890 NIS
g4560 + cheap b250 - 640 NIS

I'm buying a PC for my mom, just Internet browsing, movie streaming and games like Farmiville and other facebook junk. Is there a reason to buy i3 or G4560 is enough ? From my understanding they are pretty similar except for clock speed and pentium doesn't support some instruction set.
Thank you.

Aren't there USB to VGA/HDMI adapters out there? Pick up one of those and I think you'll be fine.
The thing is, no adapters. It has HDMI and VGA. when I connected 2 externals I had to choose 1 of the externals + native.

Are u sure u want to buy m.2?
I have SSD already (Intel 540s), I want second one for second OS (linux). With all I've heard about m.2 wanted to try it.

I have MSI Z97 Gaming 3 and want to buy Intel® SSD 540s Series (120GB, M.2 80mm SATA 6Gb/s, 16nm, TLC)
I know that there are few different types of M.2, the question is - do M.2 on my MB support M.2 on this SSD ?

10 fps in witcher on 4k or 10 fps in csgo on 1080p ? The main game I play is WoW on 1080p, But I meant in % gain. 10 fps is, unfortunately unrepresentative,
And yes, I know I don't need GTX 1060 for WoW, but I'm going to buy new PC, and thats the entry anyway. Due to previous experience, not a huge fan of Radeon...
I'm just curious, what I actually get for paying more.

None. It crashed into black screen, with fans spinning at max speed. How can I check RAM ? memtest ?
