  1. I have done this allready... The program starts caching like crazy and crashes after it reaches 90gb. I now relocated the pagefile and gave it 1.8TB to work with. No clue if that will help D:
  2. My architectural rendering (one scene) crashed while rendering overnight, due to memory running out. I'm rendering in an A0 format at 100dpi, the file size of the model is around 90MB. Texture sizes (31) are never larger than 4MB. I attached my render settings and a scene screenshots for more information. Is something here obviously too much for my specs? What can I optimize to get the scene working? Help is greatly appreciated! System Specs: 3770K 32 GB RAM Windows 10 GTX 1070 C4D 18 Student Version
  3. But it does support VT-x just not VT-d. I do not plan on vga pass through or anything like it. Under Linux virtualization on the same system works flawlessly.
  4. Yeah I run on a 64bit host. My processor does not support VT-d though. 64 bit guests should still be possible without VT-d or is that not the case and the reason for the problems I face?
  5. I'm trying to run a 64 bit guest in Virtualbox, but only have the 32bit options. I have VT-x enabled and am running Win 10 on a i7 3770k (no VT-d). Hyper-V is disabled. When reading up I read that some other program could be using VT-x and be "taking it away" from VB. Is there any way to check for that possibility? (googling din't really help with that...) Any help would be really appreciated!
  6. Yeah, the PSU was on heavy discount when I built the system and all reviews said it was really overbuilt, so i figured it would be a good deal XD. And thanks for the answer
  7. Thanks for the insights! I didn't realize it was the whole system indeed!
  8. My question: Can I keep the old 680 in the system without frying my PSU? Background: I want to upgrade to a GTX 1070/1080 from a GTX 680 [1]. While I personally use the system for gaming, I occasionally let my GF render her architecture on my System. This pretty much maxes out the CPU as well as the GPU. So I am thinking about leaving the old GPU in the system along the new one to assists in rendering. I allready looked up the max power draw of the System components (worst case): i7 3770k: 145W [2] GTX 680: 355W [1] GTX 1080: 310W/390W (OC) [3] Rest: 100W [4] Total: 910W / 990W (OC) I already have a 850W Gold PSU [5] in the system. Is that a problem or just fine? Should I just get rid of the 680? 9. So i tried to power it on again and the pc went into a cycle of powering on and off rapidly... This really seems to have something to do with grounding... Any Idea how to go about finding the source for this?
  10. Yes, I think my pc is grounded. The front panel is grounded at the case (wire intact) and my PSU (antec cp-850) has a C13 cable . I don't live with my parents anymore though
  11. So i had to move my desktop lately, since then the power is acting weird: Pressing the case power/reset button does not start the PC (motherboard does have power however). When I cut the main power and give power again, the pc powers up and boots normally (without me pressing a button). After the pc initially started the start and reset button work fine. It might have something to do with a capacitor discharging, but I don't know where. Any suggestions or ideas how to fix this? Many thanks in advance!
  12. I just installed MSI Afterburner (4.2.0). After the first install the GUI did not seem to work at all. After a reinstall the GUI opens once Everytime I boot the PC. After that AB starts in the background but the GUI does not appear. I use Win 10 and have a GTX 680. I already searched for the problem and found that Geforce Experience could be the problem. As far as I understand: disabling casting to the Nvidia Shield might fix the problem. I want to use the shield however... Am I doing it wrong? First time using AB... Thanks for your help
  13. I'm not really contemplating on what GPU I'll buy but rather if I should keep the old one to assist in rendering or render while I'm doing other "tasks" like gaming or similar. Out of curiosity, do you have a source explaining the problem you mentioned in more depth?
  14. I'm using Maxwell Render. Did a quick google search and it seems to be similar yes.
  15. So I'm planning on upgrading to a gtx1080. At the moment, I have a gtx680 and I was wondering if it worth to keep it to render pictures (architecture; mainly maxwell)? Is it possible to use both cards on the same job or one for gaming while the other renders away?
