  1. They do, and its fine. It will go over kids heads, and for everyone else you either laugh or roll your eyes. really this is the very bottom of the list in the grand scheme of things we as viewers should be concerned about.
  2. Ok its good to know that everything was working originally, as long as you dont have damage we should be okay. I would not worry about it too much. Worst case that new motheboard is defective. which while I am sure it will be inconvenient to return or RMA is realistically the worst case unless you physically damage something accidentally. Just pay attention to what you are doing while building and ensure everything is properly seated. also the first boot may take a few minutes, so dont panic. new installs (or just new memory) will usually try to train the memory timings at first boot so keep that in mind. Let me know how it goes
  3. 1. Try removing cmos for a minute then putting it back in. make sure your memory is seated fully. it could be a configuration issue or bad hardware (try just one memory stick) 1a. it could be a defective board. 2. it should work. did the computer ever work when it was assembled from dell? im sure it did but the story wasnt clear if you bought it and then immediately took it apart. I guess its possible for the cpu to be locked down, I know lenovo does that with certain skus
  4. Have you tried different chargers and cables? is this a type c mac or magsafe? Is the cable fully seated? (I have an issue with my magsafe 2 macs where I have to press the charger against the contacts for the light to come on. not the same but similar)
  5. we need photos to really be able to provide specific help. If there is space, I usually find that needle nose pliers help me get small screws like that out if they strip. I do not think you should use impact tools on your pc components
  6. It looks like the only parts you could really move between those 2 platforms are storage, power and the GPU. the way I see it there are 2 general steps to rule out what parts could be the trouble. swap GPUs and see if crashes continue swap cpu/mb/ram for old ones and see if crashes continue (with new GPU and PSU) changing GPUS is the easier thing to do IMO. You probably know what to do but JIC. Download appropriate display drivers for 1660 download ddu (seems you already know about this) run ddu power off system, change GPUs boot system install nvidia driver downloaded earlier test games you had crashes on If you still have crashing then its CPU/MB/MEM and since we cant test those individually (other than the mem) without compatible parts the simple thing to do is return those for a different part. to check if its the mem, use 1 dimm at a time in different slots rinse repeat till you either find a bad dimm or dimm slot (MB) or you rule out the memory as a problem. Maybe someone else will chime in with other suggestions. this is how I would handle it hopefully this helps
  7. Thats where I would start. especially if you are telling me that its new, and this issue you noticed after that PSU came into the picture.
  8. Yeah thats kind of weird. which parts did you actually upgrade? It seems like theres a bad part, but usually its all or nothing and not sorta working sometimes. (although I have had that too)
  9. I have had that issue both when I had bad memory, bad cpu, screwed up drivers (probably not your problem based on op) Could try running memtest86 to see if it fails anything there
  10. in CSM settings for storage check to make sure its on LEGACY mode or legacy op rom first. If CSM is in enabled you can go to boot devices and set to Legacy OpROM Only, see if that works. if not you can also try Legacy and UEFI ROM
  11. after bios updates the computer will take some time to boot usually the first time. It has to figure the memory and a few other things out. See if it works with the 4800 speed. you can fine tune your memory/cpu speeds after you get everything working properly Did you give it a chance to complete successfully? sometimes people get scared when they see the computer doing "weird" things like rebooting or taking minutes to post after an update and power the machine off prematurely
  12. Yea, I would load the newest version of the UEFI/BIOS to a flash drive and then update. That may fix it. Or you just have some defective hardware, that happens too. let us know how the bios flash goes
  13. Glad to see your memory is detected and post is now complaining about no boot device (which is expected for you). clearing cmos is referring to removing the cmos battery for ~30 seconds to clear bios. (the battery is how the bios chip remembers settings when the computer is powered off) You can usually find the UEFI/BIOS version on the first page in advanced mode and somewhere at the top in basic mode. new revisions are posted on the manufacturers support page for the product F3h is the most recent.
