  1. Thank you @Mark Kaine and @Mavendow, I do believe that the problem really is that the memory isn't on the QVL at this point. I will buy some that is and verify. Thank you very much for your help!
  2. Ah no it is not. In the past I never checked that and never had a problem. I am not often on forum and stuff, but isn't rare that it causes problem? Maybe because it just came out (the platform) and memory compatibility is still not very good?
  3. No complete reinstall, with a USB thumb drive and the Microsoft media creation tool and all.
  4. I am not exaclty sure what QVL is, but here are the 2 ram kits we tried. https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232880?Description=ram&cm_re=ram-_-20-232-880-_-Product https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07RM39V5F?tag=camelcamelcam-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&language=en_CA
  5. Hi, I made something for you. There is some things that you can choose to change, to either save money, but it can be a good base to build on. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MLJry4 In gaming, the king is the intel i7-12700k. There is no point the go for the 12900k, it is more expensive, create more heat and is almost on par with the 12700. For the cooler, personally I am not a fan of water cooling. It is more expensive and are usually cheap and brake after a while. They can be quieter, but noctua fan are pretty silent too. I went with the classic noctua UH-D15. (watch out I am not entirely sure, but I have heard that the intel 12th gen need new specialized mounting hardware because the chip is thinner. Something to look at) For the memory, if you want to stream and game at the same time 16gb will probably won't be enough, so I chose 32gb. As for the speed, I feel that past 3600mhz c16 there is marginal performance gains and will be a lot more expensive. (don't forget to enable xmp to activate the good memory speeds, if not it will stay at 2133mhz) For the power supply, with your budget I would buy something like an rtx 3080 or higher (as much as you want to spend), the power usage on Nvidia rtx 3000 series seems to spike sometimes. That why I would come with something like a 1000 watt power supply. For the GPU go with an rtx 3080 or higher. The motherboard, I chose this one because it is in the lower range in price for motherboard with wifi. (YOU SHOULD NOT USE WIFI, but having Bluetooth seems useful to have) For the storage, I chose a good nvme ssd with pcie 4.0. Personally, I think that you could save some money and go with a pci 3.0. You will never see the difference in real world. The big gains between the different pcie 3.0 and 4.0 is that sequential read and write speeds are faster. In the real world nothing is sequential, so you won't be able to tell the difference. It is possible that maybe in the future with direct storage (technology that will make game load faster) the loading time will be faster, but no game until now utilize the technology and we can't say if there is or not a difference. I chose 2tb because of your budget, but you could chose 1 tb instead to save money and use it on the graphics card. The case is really to your liking. For the screen, you don't seems to specify fps game or not. But I find that 4k screen really does make the difference. Game look a lot better than 1440p, and for web browsing and stuff I find it is well worth the upgrade (make text look a lot sharper). I chose one that is 144hz because the smoothness that it provide is well worth it. You could also look into the new samsung g7 (same basic specs), but it recently just came out and maybe wont be available. Check this video to see it compared to other similar screens.
  6. Hi, so my brother just bought a new i5-12400 with a asus PRIME Z690M-PLUS D4 (I know that Z690 isn't useful in his case, but they are less expensive than B660 right now). He bought a kit of 2 x 8gb 3600mhz C16 of ram. When he tries an play game, the game would crash or would blue screen. I determined that the ram overclock (xmp) was the cause of the problem. When we took off the xmp, no more crashing. I tried his ram in my pc, with xmp enable and no problem. He then tried my ram with xmp enable in his pc and it would crash ( my ram is 2 x 8gb c18). He tried without xpm enable and no more crashing. Also pointing toward the problem was the bluescreen error that was irql_not_less_or_equal, looking online it indicate that there is a memory error. We also did a clean install, so I don't suspect that it is something software related. I am now almost certain that the problem is related to the ram speed. Either the motherboard is the problem or the cpu memory controller is the problem. I did install the newest bios revision, but still no luck on making it work. I tried using only one stick of ram and it did not work. Other behavior that my help determine the source of the problem is that if we enable xmp, keep the timings but lower the speed to 3200mhz (with both sets of ram) there would be no more crashing. This leads me to believe that the problem is the memory controller because it simply can't handle 3600mhz. To me it would be weird if something with the motherboard would not permit these speeds. What do you think is the problem? thank you for you opinion!
  7. I am currently looking at buying an rtx 3070 founder edition. I work with my computer, and most of the noise comes from my current graphics card, do it is very important to me to be quiet. I have not found any definitive answers. So does anybody know?
  8. I get that it generates that much heat, but is it normal that the cpu temps drop back to normal in seconds?
  9. Hello, I have an 10600k overclock to 4.9 ghz cooled with a nuctua nh-d15. When I run cinebench, temps spike up immediately, and when I closed the test, they come back to 30C or so in a matter of seconds. I wonder if I installed the cooler wrong so the heat doesn't transfer to the cooler or does this generation just simply generate this much heat? thanks
  10. kk then I think that I know what I am going to buy ahahaha an xps 13 thank you everyone!!!!!!!
  11. Hi, I am starting my major in computer engineering this fall and I wasn't sure was laptop to buy. I wan't to buy the razer blade stealth 2018 ( with the i7 8th gen) and I know they are expensive for nothing but I really like the sleak look it has, but I was wondering if the dell xps 13 (with the i7 8th gen) is it worth going with it for the better battery life and performance. Also, i am stating my major in software engineering like I said, but do i need a computer with a graphique card or not (having in mind that I do have a pc a home with an gtx 970). thanks side note: I live in canada and it seems like I can't find anywhere where you can buy an dell xps 8th gen
  12. You can see that to make it work he move the fan upward but he has to see if he has space
  13. I know you are joking but even if it is off it will be at room tempeture
  14. 16gb isn't bad but when I play games I never use more than 7.8gb so it is really up to you. Are you ready to pay more money for maybe a bit of performance upgrade?
