  1. Hello LTT community! Today I came for an advice but first my situation. 2 years ago I have bought an Asus pg279q and I was very happy with my purchase. I took a good care of the screen regularly cleaning it from dust and never leaving it on for a long time without a purpose. A week ago something strange happened when I turned it on, a thin green vertical line has appeared on the right side of the screen, the line covered the whole width of the screen from up till down. I rebooted pc a couple of times finally the line was gone and never appeared again however yesterday on the right top corner of the screen I have noticed a very tiny dead pixel or even a couple of them stuck together in a shape of a crack or a fracture just like those found in a glass or in ice. The surface of the monitor where this fracture is located is in a perfect condition and does not have scratches or whatsoever it looks like it is something inside under the first layer of the screen. One more thing is that I have noticed a dark thick horizontal line upper side of the screen which is most visible on gray background. From time to time the monitor flickers but I think flickering is more related to Windows updates. I still have one year Warranty and I know about the horrible Asus RMA process. Is there anything I can do about it without going through the RMA nightmare and once I am through 3 replacements, unless I get a reasonable replacement without defects, how much money am I getting back from the original price which was around 840€ 2 years ago. It looks to me that the display started dying out, correct me if I am wrong. Here also some pictures with the line and fracture (dead pixels). How would you react in my situation? P.S. I had some RMA experience in the past with Asus and I know exactly what a mess it is. Thank you very much for your attention to the topic.
  2. Hello everybody! I have a little challenge at work, and I need your help. To be as short as possible we have a network at work its a private clinic we have around 60 pcs for all the personal. My task is to check all the pcs for out of space hard disks and their health and change them (install new hard drives, back them up etc). I am interested if someone knows some software which could let me gather that information from the server and see all I need about the size and health of each hard disk and on which pc they are installed on the network. I appologize in advance if that is a noob question but I am a practicant (noob) so I hope you won't bombard me with angry replies. Thanks
  3. Hello everyone, I am upgrading my friend's PC he wants every slot in his motherboard filled in! So he has already 32GB of memory (this one: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK32GX4M2A2400C14) the timings on these ones are 14-16-16-31. We found him on eBay the same memory (Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK32GX4M2A2400C16) but with slightly different timings: 16-16-16-39 The question is if I order him this ram pair will it work smoothly with his existing one together? And is the XMP profile the same for all of them or I will have to create a new overclocking (2400) profile to match them all? "I know it is more than enough of RAM, but some people like my friend wants best of the best". The speed, brand and size of the RAMs are the same. Thanks a lot for tips and advices.
  4. Hi everyone! This time I came here for an advice I will try to write as short as possible and stick to the main topic. So, the thing is that I hear only around 30 % on both ears, for those who wonder how much it is, for example I can never hear my smartphone ringing, door bell, water pouring, birds singing, or paper when you turn a page in a book, tv is out of the question too! If the person im talking to is further then 2 meters away from me I hear nothing but mumbling and that is with using hearing aids. Ok now that you know please don't bother writting that Sonic Radar is hacking and cheating etc. I know exactly what it is and what it does. (For those who don't know it's a software which shows you the direction of the sound in games like Pubg/CSGO etc, so that its easier for people like me to identify a target in game.) My question is: Is Sonic Radar 3 any better then Sonic Radar 2? Has anyone tried/compared both? I have Maximus VIII Gene motherboard with Sonic Radar 2 and to tell you the truth after playing with it around 9 months Sonic Radar 2 is not very good. Its showing most of the times wrong directions and is somehow just underdeveloped, not ready for a consumer (my expierence may differ from your!) So do you think that upgrade to Sonic Radar 3 worth it? Is it any better than its predecessor? Keep also in mind that its not a software which you can try before buy, the whole motherboard must be replaced. Thank you in advance for your advices.
  5. To everyone who still has this problem, I found a solution! Re-installing windows did not really help because windows was automatically installing GPU drivers including nvidia 3d vision which was not supported by my monitor (i guess this was the problem). What i did after was again a clean install of windows without internet connection. I installed the newest drivers which i preloaded before manually: GPU, Chipset, Network drivers etc without internet connection. When the installation was complete I connected to the internet and did a quick windows update. Afterthat I overclocked my display to 165Hz and everything is working smooth again.
  6. Thank you Generallee, following your advice i removed my GTX 1080 Ti for an eyeball inspection, i could not find anything at all its a brand new GPU, all the capacitors look new, nothing to worry about. What I did next is I booted my PC without GPU at all, with an intel-integrated graphics and surprisingly I found even more artifacts check the video below. I am going to re-install windows from scratch and will post my results soon today. Here is the video of PC reboot without GPU with an intel-integrated graphics. 20171029_152608.mp4
  7. Hello linustechtips community, after windows 10 update (creators update) im getting some wierd horizontal artifacts on start up (i will upload a small video). Sometimes they are bigger and more intensive and other times almost invisible like in the video i've made now. Here is my setup: Asus ROG PG279Q (overclocked to 165hz), Intel i7 6700k (not overclocked), GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 (not overclocked), EVGA Supernova 650 W G2, Asus Maximus VIII gene, 32 GB RAM from Corsair, 250GB SSD + 1TB HDD, I am certain that it has nothing to do with my GPU (2-3 months old), as before the update everything was running smooth with the same setup I played around a bit and found out that if I set my display to default 144hz, the artifacts dissapear. The problem is that before Windows Creators Update everything was working just fine even with my monitor overclocked to 165hz. So I guess it is a software issue. I have tried several things like disabling/enabling fast boot and messing with some other windows settings, un-reinstalling/updating GPU drivers etc. Still no progress! I also updated my bios to the latest versions, still no luck. Is there someone on the same boat with me? Has someone found a solution without RMAing GPU/Monitor/Motherboard etc? I am guessing it is some kind of GPU/Monitor + Win10 compatibility issue but i still didnt find a real solution. If anyone has some advices or wants to share his/her experiences on this issues it will be highly appreciated. vlc-record-2017-10-29-11h19m20s-20171029_104033.mp4-.mp4
  8. Hi, Im having the same issues with GTX 1080 Ti, since new windows 10 update (a week or so ago). I was trying to find a solution by experimenting with hardware, I am running my GPU together with an overclocked ASUS ROG PG279Q 165Hz, i tried to set it up back to normal 144Hz and the problem was gone. I guess its is some kind of Win10+Nvidia+MonitorOverclock glitch. Before the update everything was in order!
  9. Hello everyone, i wanted to create this topic in order to exchange some information on Asus PG279Q latest release manufacture dates. Lets say that i am buying this panel now (for instance from Amazon in Germany) somewhere in januar 2017 which release date of the panel will i get? I understand that everything depends on the reseller, but lets suppose in general. What is the latest one? My friend bought one in August 2016 and he got a panel manufactured in May 2016. He had this funny firmware issue with the vertical lines. But according to Asus official website, this firmware issue was resolved and the latest panels manufactured after June 2016 dont suffer from this problem anymore. Does anyone have this panel with manufacture date after June 2016? Please be welcome to share here the manufacture date of your pg279q, to approximately distinguish the latest release of this panel. Thanks in advance
  10. VQ = VERY QURVED LOL ajajajajaja nice one
  11. I was expecting 1440p. As you said I see no point in 1080p curved monitor either. Hopefully the 1440p monitors from Samsung will be good enough to invest in!
  12. Your information was unfortunately misleading. It is a new curved 1080p 144hz monitor from Asus. Source: https://rog.asus.com/articles/events/ces-2017-rog-introduces-latest-gaming-monitors/
  13. I agree with Godlygamer23! Sazrocks if you need source go to pcper channel or gaming nexus they have a bunch of videos on this topic in their libraries. Human eye is not a computer, and it is extremely difficult to distinguish how fast it can see. In my opinion there are people who can see the difference between 30, 60, 120, 165 and 200+ fps. Even i can tell you the difference between 30, 60, 100, 120, 144 fps easily and i am not a pro gamer or some monitor nerd.
