  1. Actually this is the work server that gave me the download error last night for both my 1080ti and my 670 both were trying to take from the same server and took me 5 restarts and deleting both slots several times.
  2. Hey 450k ppd would probably bump me back into the top 10. I heard on way recently @LinusTech talking about doing whole home water cooling but I think there might be a way to route this into your current heat ducting to actually use it to help heat your house. I'm sure this would take an extreme amount of work to do especially trying to calculate exactly how much more heat it could generate and then how to cause it to not heat the house in summer but could be really cool.
  3. Although this event does make it fun we do encourage any and all of you to fold for as long as possible and just use this as encouragement to get into it. I do legitimately use it all winter as heating instead of having a space heater in my room.
  4. Wait if you have more cards... and you have more PCIe slots... lol
  5. This is almost exactly what you should get in windows but with a little overclocking and linux I get 380k out of mine. Running at 1475 (pretty low oc considering I can get both up to 1519 in gaming) and running completely stable so don't be afraid to pull a little extra out of it. The best solution for this problem is to restart the whole computer as it will assign you to a different work server when you boot back up. Also for those of you who are willing when this happens from now on could you check the log and see what the ip address of the server giving the problem is when I looked today I forgot to write it down but I think it was a different ip from the ones that were causing the issue before.
  6. Its the way folding hands out work units there is an assignment server a work server and a collection server. This seems to be a problem with the connection speed of the work server for you to download the WU's from. So by resetting the assignment server is simply connecting you to another work server to get the WU from to process. There isn't a fix currently but they were throttling the effected work server so that not as many people would connect to them until they solved the problem but it looks like its not solved yet.
  7. Prizes are set up so that everyone has a chance. So don't worry and keep up the good fight.
  8. Yeah looks like the download bug is back. I only figured it out because I was freezing this morning when I woke up and then realized my 1080ti was doing nothing. So not only did I lose all those points but I also have to be cold. They've gone too far this time.
  9. Ok please build this and make a build log thread. I doubt you would rack mount it but I'm imagining like an 8u chassis. lol
  10. *plugs in second pcie cables for all his cards*
  11. What mobo/ chassis would actually allow you to use a 4x connection to each gpu and how many gpu's per system could you have?
  12. EVERYONE!!! Day two stats as well as corrected day 1 stats will be posted here very soon: Be sure to check out your competition and read the wise words of @GOTSpectrum as he makes us all compete for glory against each other come together as a team. As always if you find something that is off or just have a question please pm one or all of us @palespartan, @GOTSpectrum, and @Gorgon we are not perfect and might occasionally make mistakes so be patient and we will try to get them resolved as soon as possible.
  13. My b... If you look at the info from @Gorgon it shows his 2060s pulling about 1.2-1.3m ppd while my 2070 is pulling 1.4-1.7m ppd and my 1080ti is 1.1-1.3m ppd. But I am also running the 2070 on ubuntu and gorgon is running his 2060s on linux as well while my 1080ti is running on windows so maybe that's part of the difference. No thank all of you for making this thing way bigger than I think any of us could imagine. It is crazy to think how much its grown since last year.
  14. Yeah kinda crazy that a $350 card gets nearly the same performance of my last gen $800 card. (2060 vs 1080ti) ^ me watching @Gorgon talk about a LSI controller running raid 10 in a node 804 Its ok we haven't posted a real stats update yet so you can tell yourself your in whatever place you need to be... until you go and cause a 2080ti shortage.
  15. Wait it has a mic input that isn't through the sound card (chip)? that is really weird. But if its not through the regular sound chip then yeah I cant imagine anything else it would be hooked up to. what size is your psu? also if its a well made psu they usually trip internal breakers before catching fire. but that does depend a lot on brand and model. It was announced in at least one TechLinked and two WAN shows as well as a twitter shout out or two. Then also our word of mouth here on the forum. Next year I'm thinking about a superbowl ad. lol.
  16. I'm thinking its gonna be some physical problem probably networking like an old switch freaking out to the increased throughput or something.
  17. Yeah we all have our own unusual solutions most of which involve putting the systems in other rooms than where we sleep but also using them for heating is definitely a big part of it.
  18. Yeah I came home from work to my 1080ti having that download failure again. didn't check to see for how long. Think they thought they fixed it re upped the servers to full capacity and now they are having the same problem with the increased workflow.
  19. That was actually one of the original points of folding month when I came up with it last year. lol. Yes definitely a reminder that even if the 100k and 20WUs are rather easy to accomplish you must submit at least some points for at least 20 days over the event. @Gorgon do you want to add this to your marked answer? there are ways of changing it so that you can still work and put out less heat. one of the best ones is to underclock your gpu or something along those lines if you want to stay in it.
  20. Yeah usually event if its an OC model there is still some to be had but overclocking is something you really just got to take on on your own. I learned how to get to where I am by messing around with cards and figuring out what the different settings did and then learned how to actually find where their limits are. I would start with a youtube vid on basic gpu overclocking and go from there. As for utilities I think we all agree MSI Afterburner or EVGA precision boost are the ones to go with (will work on all cards despite brand.)
  21. Yes. It just allows it to hit the higher power target if needed. like when you move the slider all the way up in afterburner. But yes to actually achieve it you will need to oc. I was only saying that might be the issue since it was so much lower than the rating but like you said you caught it at a dip. But if your interested in more overclocking stuff in linux this is the place to check. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA/Tips_and_tricks
  22. That is weird since it does seem like it still has some power headroom left. You might want to try increasing the power limit on it to the full 120w its rated for.
