  1. Corsair fan, much? looks good to me.
  2. keep an eye on the processors that are being released on the 5th, a ryzen 5900x might be the best value. I would definitely consider at least 16 GB memory also.
  3. 1. Budget & Location $2500 maximum, Thailand 2. Aim I have a couple of partial build parts lying around, and I need to upgrade. My current system has some issues..: i7 6700 - inadequate for one program I must use (5900x or 5950x will be used) 32 GB DDR4 (necessary, if I had unlimited budget I would use 64GB, but does not seem like a great time to buy that) (have a 1050ti for the mini-itx form, it may be sufficient?) so, I have a sugo sg-13 case lying around, I wish to return a full build into my mini-itx case and upgrade it if it will show a great return on the investment. This system will handle non-demanding tasks and I will lug it around when I travel in a backpack. I am debating on if this is worth upgrading the mobo/processor to new ryzen stuff, it would be a large upgrade even at the bottom end, but add to the cost. I dont really plan to overclock, but it would be nice to have that option in the future, and gaming is secondary to workstation use. What I need: At least one 5950x or 5900x cpu, and motherboard required, possibly one full-sized and one mini-itx. If I go this route, likely it will be 5900x and 5600x one case, Phanteks p500a? corsair obsidian 500d? 680x? lian li ol? I would prefer air cooling. CPU cooler and fans for the new case and CPU. I am in a hot tropical environment, so I do not want to be stingy here with new parts meant to last. at least one full-sized 5950x ready motherboard, possibly one in mini-itx form. I am seeing great things about the x570 tomahawk and it is cheap here, so I am strongly leaning towards that. 3. Monitors I want to be able to use 2x 2560x1440 144fps monitors at least. I have one which is great for gaming and would like a second, cheap, 2560x1440 monitor, only thing I care about is that it is easy to see the picture and anything to reduce eye strain. 4. Peripherals One mouse, no budget. I am sick of failing parts, if one will last forever I want that. They all seem to fall apart on me. 5. Why are you upgrading? I have 1.398 computers, a frankenbuild, and I need to get the performance delivered by the upcoming processors. Having a portable system would be a great boon for an upcoming trip, and I already have a mini itx psu, case, (old) motherboard, processor, and ram. I would like to use my old parts, perhaps upgrading the mobo/processor, to build a mini ItX s thanks, if you were able to read all of that mess! I am in a hurry to figure it out, myself... parts I have: 1 TB m.2 corsair 500 GB evo SSD i7 6700 32 GB DDR4 geforce GTX 1070ti 750 or 850w gold superflower leadex psu (in fractal design meshify C ATX) (which has a broken glass panel, no response from fractal or stock in store that I have seen for couple years...), probably replacing entirely. thinking of putting most of those parts into my sugo sg13b mini ITX case, and then getting: zen 3 series 4 gen 5 or whatever it is 5900x MSI Tomahawk x570 (I dont see much value in gen 4, but this board looks like great value) case: phanteks p500a ? noctua cooler? different ram? I am not sure if I will gain from 2xxx mhz ram to 3600, if it will be a noticeable improvement or not. One program I use might require 15 GB free ram to load its work. \ all thoughts are appreciated!
  4. I have stumbled upon the solution from another user with a similar issue. Here is the fix for anyone stumbling upon this one! If you cannot get past searching for updates on a new format of windows 7 64 bit , you must apply this update: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4fe566bd-31b1-4413-8c4c-412b52533669 (32 bit here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=fcd6bf5d-f004-4ca3-aa7e-1de462b91dd0) followed by this hotfix, after you install the prior update and reboot: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
  5. yes everything worked with windows 10, but I could not activate it, even after a couple of hours with support (and it is glorified spyware). Windows 7 activated instantly...
  6. my motherboard did have serious issues when I started using it with Windows 7; I installed windows 10 which it was fine on, but I am back to square one now. I am >90% sure the GPU is fine, just has some problems likely related to the updates/drivers.
  7. I have installed a couple of drivers, for some reason my GPU driver is not working though (no installable components). I will end up leaving it on over night if I can't figure it out, but i'd like to use it asap. It also ime needs to update many times, and when I sleep it will only check for updates once (scheduled time), reboot, and then stick on the login screen. Without a PW, it would just log in but not check again for updates I find, unless there is another way. no I do not want windows 10, Windows seems to really, really want me to have it though.
  8. I have just done a clean reformat / Windows 7 64 bit install. I am unable to run windows update; it just displays "Checking for updates..." for hours on end. I have looked for the solutions online; which there were a few but none worked: I have tried running the 'fix windows update problems' in the start->troubleshoot etc menu I have tried the 'aggressive windows update' hotfix I have tried rebooting and checking the windows clock/date/time. I have tried using the windows 10 media creation tool to spoof an update No luck. I am downloading SP1 but that will take a few hours, and may or may not work. Anything else I can try in the mean time? This is a totally new windows format; the first thing I did try was to update windows.
  9. I have been talking to tech support (still am actually) for the last couple of hours. They are saying I need to deal with the store I purchased it in. This would be no issue if I had recently bought it at my local WalMart but I am travelling and it was years ago, I could not even say which country I purchased it in. It is a legal copy with a certficate of authenticity, it is not available (my license key) on google, it was almost certainly just blacklisted because I was using it while travelling.
  10. So, I have an authentic WIndows 7 license I purchased at full retail, in a windows plastic box with seal of authenticitiy, that I paid full retail for. I have used for a couple of years. Today, I learned that my key has been blacklisted. Support has informed me I must pay full price for a Microsoft license. The issue was, I had used the key multiple times in multiple locations. I do move, and I did reformat a couple of times since 2009. Today, I have learned that there is a real risk of your funds, documents, and convenience if you purchase an official windows license and are travelling. Be careful when activating Windows!
  11. dont forget you will have to pay about 30% customs fee. Its generally going to be cheaper to buy locally.
  12. extrnal HD only has a USB port im not sure how I would do that, neat idea though. Ive been trying to get Linux on here but I get 'live distro not found' etc errors. Been trying to figure this out for six hours! Tried flashing the bios wno luck as well.
  13. he was correcting sean angelo and huilun02 who did not understand. I did try out your idea and thanked you for it! Im sorry if I hurt your feelings somehow.
  14. yes, thank you for clarifying that, I do infact have the drivers already just cannot get windows to see the devices holding them.
  15. I do not have a CD drive in the case so CDs do not work. The OS is windows 7 64 bit I have the drivers downloaded on two different USB drives (one USB stick one external hard drive).. I don't know how I can install them onto the OS drive because it cannot recognize any drives! I will try constantly switching them around but I have tried all ports. Thanks
