  1. Thanks for the reply. I'll go with the NItro+ then I see and that's true. Maybe only the vega can fully use my screens freesync feature at that resolution. THanks for the input
  2. Yeah mine has freesync, but it does not need freesync to achieve 75FPS Doesn't the mini 1080 have bad cooling? And yeah I guess I'll just go for the Vega 56 then. I was just trying to find reasons to justify not having to spend the extra $200, but then I guess it's unreasonable to expect the 580 to dish out a steady 60fps at that resolution for AC Odyssey Thanks for the replies guys EDIT: Does anyone know who makes the best variant for Vega 56? i've heard great things about Sapphire and XFX for the 580, but what about the Vega 56? Is the Nitro+ a good card? I want something that's not super loud and runs cool. Thanks!
  3. Will the 580 not run well at this resolution though? i don't mind turning down the settings. Plus I have seen a few videos on Youtube that shows 580's ability to run 1440p, and it appears that it's able to maintain a 40-50fps in some games @Settlerteo Waiting a few months is not an option because I am not even sure how long the free game bundle promotion will last. It's one of the biggest reasons why I'm even considering buying AMD lol
  4. I'm thinking about upgrading to either the 580 or vega 56 because I want to game on my Acer XR382CQK monitor. My specs currently are i5 4670K, 8GB DDr3 RAM, and a GTX770 2GB. I plan on giving the 770 to a family member, so I decided to use this time to upgrade. I game quite a bit, but most of them are not that demanding. For example, I play CSGO, Dota 2, Black Ops 3, and the Batman Arkham Games (not knight). These games do run relatively well but maybe because they're just not as demanding as the more recent games. Since the buying from AMD will get me a free copy of AC Odyssey, I plan on playing it alot. However, I'm also worried that I won't be able to get a decent FPS unless I go with the Vega 56, which is almost 2x the price of a 580. I have seen benchmarks that demonstrate the 56 is quite alot stronger than the 580 in resolutions above 1080P. I'm actually worried that the 580 won't even be able to maintain a steady 40+ fps for freesync. Another thing I'm concerned about is that the price of the Vega 56 (Nitro + is ~$440 USD) is is within the price range of 1070TI which I believe to be alot stronger. What do you guys think? is the 580 going to be able to handle games at this resolution? Or is it justifiable to spend almost 2x the price to get the Vega 56?
  5. I see, thanks so much for your help
  6. Hi thanks for the response. Would you please kindly point to what specific program I should be looking for? Also, the smudged thermalpaste is fine right?
  7. I've recently assembled a new PC and I am using the Corsair Crystal 460x case with the three front fans. I don't have any fans in the back or top of the case. I have a Gigabyte Z370 HD3 board paired with the i7 8700K, 16GB DDR4 RAM, a GTX 1080, a Samsung 500GB SSD and a 2TB HDD. THe CPU cooler is the CM Hyper 212 EVO. I have gone into the BIOS to ensure my fans are all on silent, because I absolutely hate the fan noise. However, I realized that everytime I restart my PC, there's like a 1/5 chance where the fans won't start spinning at their top speeds. It's really loud, yet I've used HWMOnitor to ensure that my idle temps are always in the 30s-40s. I have ensured that all three fans including CPUfans are on silent, so why are they this loud? My temps aren't high either. One additional info, not sure of its relevance, but when I was installing the CPUcooler on the mobo, I had an extremely hard time as it was impossible for it to latch on. It's hard to explain, but basically the four metal "legs" cannot go into all four holes at the same time. When I install one side, the other side pops up at such an angle that I needed alot of force to force it down. APparently it's common among gigabyte board owners. In the process, I smudged the thermalpaste quite a bit as I kept having to readjust and reinstall the CPU cooler. The thing is I have been tracking my temps and it's still low so I doubt it was much of an issue. So TLDR; why are my fans so loud when idling despite clean fans + silent mode + low temps?
  8. Mine is 3840x1600. If it's listed as 1, then why did it have a DP out? I remember seeing in CES how the LG variations are able to support it, so I'm not sure if this chart pertains to my question
  9. Hi I've recently decided to switch to a triple monitor setup. However, the display port that I have for the leftmost monitor just isn't long enough to reach the tower. My newest Acer 38" ultrawide supports daisychaining, and I understand that I can just daisy chain both monitors together. However my questions are, will there be any drawbacks like refresh rate/resolution/lag issues? Will it be slower for gaming? Will it actually be the same as plugging in a standalone DP cable to the leftmost monitor?
  10. I know this is an old topic, but anyone found a difference? There's a relatively big price difference at my local PC store, but I don't even know what the differences are. If it lacks speakers/headphone port, then I could care less. However, I highly doubt the new model had anything revolutionary, so why the 2 model #s? I would imagine one is supposed to replace the other, but why? Also, on the Acer website, both are stated to have AMD Freesync. The only thing missing from the UM.TX2AA.001 version is the lack of the DTS speakers and headphone, and apparently IPS isn't stated on the website. I'm sure both are still IPS, but I don't know how such a minor difference justifies such a price gap, and how do we identify which is which? EDIT: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/compare/UM.TX2AA.001-UM.TX2AA.002 This shows a relatively comprehensive list of differences. Judging by this, it appears that even the 001 has DTS speakers, just no "headphones" - whatever that means.
  11. Will the B and H be cheaper than the Z370? is there much of a difference? I've actually heard bad things about the z370, apparently its a dead end mobo? Also, how much of a difference is there? is it worth waiting till later this year? Any alternatives that I can consider now? I don't really wish to wait, unless there's that big of a difference that waiting is the better option... Is there a big difference with say, 8700 vs 8700k? As aforementioned, I don't play to OC ever, so is K really not the option to go? Also, I don't plan to buy used. I kinda wish to stick with the newest, so it's either 8600k or 8700k. Will the B250 board be compatible with the 8600k/8700k? Is it that much of a difference between the B250 and the ones that's going to be released later this year? Ideally, I don't really wish to wait at all, I'm trying to consider the parts that are available right now.
  12. Is this only the case for 8th gen? What about 7? Should I go the 8xxx route, what's a recommended motherboard? I don't plan to OC or anything.
  13. I currently have the older i5 4670K paired with the gtx1080. Lately Ive been thinking about upgrading to either the 8600k or 8700k, or something that can perform similarly. I wish to upgrade strictly for gaming. Which one is better? I've read around and many have claimed that there's almost no difference in gaming, and some have noted that it's not worth the price difference. I"m located in the US btw, so there's almost a $100 USD difference between both. It's not too significant for me, but if there's really no difference at all, I"ll rather spend the $100 elsewhere. However I currently have the MSI Z87-G43 GAMING motherboard by MSI. I believe that should I wish to upgrade to coffeelake, I'll be required to upgrade my motherboard too right?
  14. Thanks so much. I always knew but I was lazy lol. I found the screws in the case too, thanks so much. Thnks for the reply. I was too stupid to look in it that I even for the past few hours I genuinely believed that my mobo was sold in an incomplete package state
  15. Thanks for the reply. THis is because 780 is an old GPU of mine and as it's still working well, i found no need to buy a new one. Also, I cannot find the screws in my motherboard box or PSU box. Is this normal?
