  1. Thanks Jarsky, Very precise and appreciated comments. I guess I will try and look for something that might be able to 'recover/rebuild' the header/filesystem to be able to access the drives - in fact I don't mind loosing some files in the process. I will review and see what I can find and report back if successful to share knowledge. If you think of anything you would recommend as a good start point for third party software will be appreciated too. Thanks again for your help. Cheers WP
  2. Hi Brink2Three Really appreciate the quick response, thanks. To your main question... sadly, the disks are well past warranty, so I am really on my own. And you could be right in the fact that the mechanicals could be failing...I just clung to the hope that the 'raid degraded' message was still mainly a software issue. If I could get either one into another system or enclosure (non-raid) I could try and grab some files if I could get them to be recognised out of their enclosure - hard I guess with the whole set-up being controlled by the software raid in the first place. WP
  3. Hi All, I have an old WD My Book Studio II Enclosure (Silver) and ran the 2x 2TB drives in JBOD for max space (pretty full right now - 90%) and now have a warning that the raid has degraded (via the front lights flashing top/bottom on the enclosure). When it powers up I can often get it to pop-up in windows for a short while but when I try to go down to file level it often creates this light-based warning and then removes itself from windows and is inaccessible so I was wondering if the is a fix for JBOD ‘raid’ re-build or can these disks be put into another state (or quick recovery software can adjust MFT/JBOD state) so that they can be read out of the enclosure as individual disks or in another external caddie (non-raid version)? Help or advice would be a life saver. Happy to buy - within reason - any s/w that is proven to help. I have two enclosures to switch the disks between but having tried disks in both this does not seem to be a hardware raid issue as I get the same issue in both. Thanks, in advance and appreciate any thoughts. Worldphoto PS: I have heard about the github ‘reallymine’ program that is meant to help but this is rather technically too far for my current knowledge/skills.
  4. Just popped up on my FB and remembered it... I guess it is somewhat lesser of a product and yes, I had seen something a while back as I remember the 'rotating of the screens to share' moment in the video. Hey-ho, I'm sure someone will get it right eventually.
  5. We saw the Razer prototype triple screen laptop covered in one of Linus's videos (see pic) but seems like another company has made it happen already (see video link).
  6. Got to say I jumped on one in January of this year (2016) and was with me in around 5 days (Korea-to-Thailand - where i am currently living). Minimal duties to pay (which surprised me) I think due to the fact that it's not a TV or with a TV tuner. Anyway once it arrived it was perfect out of the box. I went for the AMH A409U V2 a 40" 4K monitor with ultra slim bezel and a breeze to set-up. Followed up with a profiling using the ColorMunki Photo which has left it looking pretty damn good. There is an element of pixel risk here with these panels (and why they are so reasonable) but I also think if you start to look around at available options from big name manufacturers and retailers there are more 32"-and-up sized 4K panels around now. So you have have to do the sums and see if it's worth it all (they do not charge for shipping anywhere in the world usually, which is a bonus). So for those no necessarily going for the full 4K experience just yet and want a better scan rate then these various sellers have a mixed range to include Full HD, 1440, 1600 and of course the UHD/4K options (usually through dream-seller, gnstore, gn_australia, green-sum to name a few on ebay). The brands are AMH, Crossover, Microboard, Quix, Wasabi Mango, Yamakasi, AlphaScan etc. and will often ship with either Samsung, Dell or LG original panels in various formats (TN/MVA/IPS) and clearly worth a look around. They do come with a warranty and they will return monies as necessary and can be largely trusted as good retailers/sellers. I had a relocation issue with my purchase as I have an ebay account in UK and am living here but they (Dream-seller in my case) worked around the ebay/paypal issues to make it happen. So far my experience has been good. So originally when i plugged it in i was running the following set-up: Asus P8-Z77-V LX MB Intel i7-3770k Geil 1600Mhz DDR3 4 x 4GB Sapphire 7850 2GB OC Raidmax 700AC PSU and the three monitors for work. Namely: AMH A409U 40" - 3840x2160 @60Hz (DP) Dell WFP 3008 30" - 2560x1600 @60Hz (HDMI) Eizo ColorEdge CE240W 24" - 1920x1200 @60Hz (DVI) Then changed the Graphics card to a AMD FirePro W4100 and continued to enjoy the same resolutions as above but am hoping to exchange my odd sized monitors for another 2 32" 4k panels - which the card will allow me to run the 3 x 4k monitors at 60Hz. I have been lucky but so have a lot of other users and forum members (see TekSyndicate for other experiences).
