Heedshot's Achievements

  1. I am a metrologist by trade and I need a little help. Maybe LTT and friends can do a video on this. My team an I do a lot of 3D scanning like the video I will link below. We work on some very large projects with equipment that is more accurate and takes more points per scan than the Leica BLK360 Linus unboxed in the video. Where we struggle is in computing hardware, while we have Quadro P5000's and dual xeon machines we still get to the point when even 256GB of RAM will bog down with a project. Also, our 3D modeling software while eating up GPU RAM but not GPU raw processing power. So here is my question. Who out there is doing anything like this or is managing this from an IT perspective? Also, do you have any hardware specs that could help...like ram speed, or RAM discs(what are you using and how did you set it up)?
