I have just built a new budget PC that I plan on using as a media PC, the only problem is that I do not have a hard drive with an operating system for it, and as it is a budget PC I don't want to buy Windows 10. I have never installed an OS before, so how do I do it?

Currently I have downloaded the 1.6GB ISO file to a working system and connected my external hdd to the working system. I assume it is not as simple as just copying the ISO file over to the hdd?

It's a ISO files which means it either needs to burnt to a disk or virtually mounted then installed.

Heyo there, I have a Gainward 1060 but I wanna change the cooler as it's not the best performer and yeah. I'm torn between selling it and buying a 1060 with a nicer cooler or getting third party cooling

Which do you guys think would be better? I looked in to NZXT's GPU AIO bracket but my gpu isn't compatible (sadface) are there any alternative methods or should I sell it and make up the difference for an ASUS or MSI card?

The cooler on the 1060's are fine there not powerful enough to reach uncomfortable temps.

Well I can't get to 4.6 without windows crashing unless I'm at 1.345v or something like that. I still need to try seeing if I can lower the voltage and still be stable on 4.5, but thats NOT the question here (I clearly LOST the silicon lottery on this one), the question is Should I keep it on Manual voltage instead of switching to adaptive like Linus says people do in the video because I'm seeing MUCH better load temps when set to manual.

Manuel if you're comfortable you know what you are doing.

this guy's i5 4670k could only get 60-85 fps with cpu load always on 100% with a gtx 1070 while his friend's older i7 3770k gets 100fps with 60-80% load with the same GPU. that shows that the i5 is bottlenecking the gtx 1070 and above graphics cards and isn't enough for them anymore.

    Okay... whatever you say lol

So working on the overclock for my new rig and running into an issue.

I followed the LTT video here:

and managed a stable 4.5 Ghtz OC at 1.325 volts at temperatures lower then or equal to the stock OOTB settings (any higher voltage to be stable at higher clock speeds ran the CPU hotter then I liked) but as soon as I went back into the Bios and set the voltage from Manual to Adaptive and reran the stress test my temps shot up 10-12C (at load) and did it right away, why is it running so much hotter in adaptive? Should I ignore Linus's video and switch back to Manual?

1.325v is still high for 4.5ghz mine at 4.7ghz and only needs 1.264v.

i'd get an i7 6700 if possible, an i5 will bottleneck the gtx 1080. otherwise everything looks fine.

A i5 will not bottle neck a 1080 my my brother got to enjoy my 1080's in his system for 2 days before I put them on water. He was running arma 3 maxed out at 1440p staying above 60fps

the thing is, a 4k monitor would be good. but it depends on the games he'll be playing, a 1080 will still struggle on some games at 4k... 1440p would be better until he can get a 2nd 1080.

lmao i'm going to pretend I didn't read that.

Nice always good to see the old boys getting into games. My dad used to love GTA 5 he was bloody telling everyone about it lol
