There's a complicated math process done to the key during the offline validation. It's nowhere near this simple but just as an example it can convert the ASCII characters to binary, add them all up, multiply the result by four and see if the four middle digits are 0010. It then accepts it at face value if it adds up.

If hackers get a hang of that math algorithm, they can reverse-engineer it to generate valid keys. If windows didn't do an online lookup later on, or if there was a way to disable the online lookup, you'd get away with it. That's how keygens work. But to counter that, windows does do an online lookup as soon as you connect the machine to the internet. They see if your exact key is on a list of valid keys (whitelist) or if it's on a list of known leaked keys (blacklist) and go from there.

Thank You very much for explaining that :)

  2. Right so I brought a Windows 10 key off kinguin.com a couple hours ago. I activated it on my new media pc about 5 minutes after purchase. At this point in time the pc had never been connected to the internet but accepted the key? How does my pc know the key is activated?

  3. Looking for a new office chair. I've been looking at DX Racer chairs for quite a while now and also been interested in the Vertagear line of chairs. What are you guys/gals using would appreciate some feedback.

    Thanks :)

  4. The way I see it is every law abiding Man, Women and child should have the right bare arms. It's up to the parents or school teachers on how to educate youngsters on correct gun handling and safety. Now I live in Australia and the way my government views it if someone breaks into my house in the middle of the night and I shoot and kill them i'm the bad one and I spend the next 20 years in prison.

I'm trying to figure out which gaming controller to buy...

Looking at the Steam controller, Xbox one, and PS4. I would be most comfy on the Xbox one but I can adapt to new controllers pretty easy. Which one would be easy to set up?

Also would i need bluetooth? I currently dont have BT on my PC so wired would prob work best.

    Other recommendations are welcome

    Thanks!

I personally hate the steam controller. I just use my ps4 controller.

My friend said he wanted to build a new pc and I decided to come here for help. He wants a white build and has a budget of 1200$. He said he is only going to be gaming so no need for an i7. Dont include peripherals, monitor and os.

Gaming on a i7? Stick with a i5! Spent the money you saved on a gpu.

Anyone Try Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Yet? Looking to upgrade my AS5 to what ever is top of the line. I was thinking Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra, but stumbled across this before getting the credit card out. Anyone have first had experiance with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut? Or links to benchmarks?

    Edit:

Here is a link to a LLT discussion about it but no one there has tested it:

I use thermal grizzly hydronaut all my build, excellent product!

  8. While putting togeather my new build. I was plugging everything in and while pluging in the hd audio connector from the front panel io the green wire came out the connector. Is this a serious problem?

So right now I'm live in a college hostel, which wifi service is provided,

But unfortunately, each of use only have a single account, which means when I logged in into my laptop,my phone or tablet will sign out automatically.

Currently my solution is to use my windows tablet to connect to that wifi signal, and broadcast a wifi hotspot of its own, that way every device can connect to it at the same time.

But the catch is that the tablet must be active at all time, which I don't want.

    Is there any other solution?

like a wifi repeater device, but works in a different way.

I trying to find a device that connects to that wifi signal, and use that signal to broadcast its own ssid.

Will wifi repeater work that way too?

A simple wifi repeater would work just fine. Provided the host modem/router doesn't sign you out every couple of hours and you have to reconfigure the repeater.

Repeaters are kind of expensive if you want a good one, always they will loose signal. Try using a access point as they are wired and you can get the wire to be camouflaged along the wall with some cable fasteners.

Okay Thank You i'll look into it :)
