As the title states, I dont know what the header is for. it's a 2pin header. (Photo for refrence) It may be a simple thing but i can't find anything in the motherboards manual or on the internet.

I haven't chosen any GPU yet since there is being released a lot of new cards recently. I want to wait a bit before buying a new card. In the meantime I will use the GPU from my old rig. Are there some components that aren't compatible? Are there some parts you recommend instead? If there isn’t something to change then I will go ahead and buy it as fast as possible

Hi. It's the first time I’m going to put a desktop together so i wanted to hear if my decisions are okay. I want to have a somewhat "future-proof" pc. I know it's not possible to make it super future-proof, but I’m going to try my best. Budget: Around 1000 USD. If it goes 200$ above or below it wouldn't matter that much. Aim: I want a gaming pc in the mid-high class. The pc should preferably be capable of running the newest games, in the next 5-6 years. Peripherals: I’m using a 24" monitor at 1080p. I may want to get an additional monitor in the future, since I’m used to run the screen in a dual setup with my laptop. Keyboard and mouse is Logitech G510 & G502. I have a windows 7 install disc, which i will install and upgrade to windows 10. Why I’m upgrading: I have a 5-7 year old desktop which is not capable of running that demanding games. I have speculated if I’m able to re-use anything from it in my new build, so I have posted its specs below. (Off-topic: What uses does an old, working, not used pc have?) Here is my old pc: (450$ USD) Motherboard: Gigabyte M61PME-S2P CPU: AMD Athlon X2 Processor 4850e (dual-core 2,5 GHz) GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5750 (512 MB memory, 700 MHz core clock, 1.150 MHz Memory bus clock) RAM: (4GB) 2.048 MB Qimonda DDR2 @ 602 MHz + 2.048 MB Transcend Information DDR2 @ 602 MHz HDD: 500 GB ST350041 8AS SCSI Disk Device PCI expansion: BELKIN Wireless G PCI Network Adapter ( Model no. F5D7000v8) PSU: Inter-Tech SL-500A Case: There is a m-ATX board in it but looks like there is screw holes for an ATX board. I don't know if i should add a second one in a SLI configuration or buy a new card in the future. CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k 3,5 GHz I will not overclock for the first year or two of owning the pc. But the overclock feature is something that helps with future-proofing? I will put a cooler master hyper 212 EVO on it when I want to overclock. (Or right when I get the pc. I don’t know what is best) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 I thought this was the best choice of the z97 boards. The dual bios switch thingy might come in handy when I start to overclock, if I break something. (SLI may or may not be used) RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory I just choose RAM with the same colors as the rest of the pc. Should i instead go with a single 8GB stick? Maybe go for a total of 16GB? HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive It has a good storage amount at a low price. I have heard they aren't durable, they die fast? Maybe I should get a second one for RAID 1? SSD: A-Data Premier SP550 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Everyone says you should get a SSD as a boot drive so I thought "Why not?” I just choose a cheap SSD. Some of you should be able to recommend a better one. PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply I know it's a bit overkill wattage, but i got told you can somewhat future-proof a PSU. (If I add a second GTX970). Should i go with a different PSU? Case: Cooler Master MasterCase 5 Pro It's a modular case which adds to the future-proofing. Maybe i should pick an inverted case instead. The pc will end up to the left of my monitor, so the side window has to be on the left side. In worst case scenario I can face the front of the pc away from me so the side window faces me.
