  1. Yes, that could make sense but I measured the output of the chargers and when the notebook switched to battery it did not draw current from the charger anymore. When it starts to draw current again, the notebook switches back to wall power.
  2. How do your notebooks behave when you run them with power supplies that are too weak? I have an Asus ProArt StudioBook 16 (H5600QM) that comes with a 240W power supply with a barrel plug. According to the specifications, it also supports 100W USB Power Delivery on both USB-C ports. Now 100W is significantly less than 240W, I'm aware of that, so I can also understand that I have limitations when running with a USB-C power supply. The behavior I know from other devices is that I simply get a message in Windows stating the power supply is not strong enough. Similar to the battery mode, you have to live with a lower clock speed, and also that the battery may be slowly discharged despite being connected to the power supply. I find this behavior perfectly fine and know it from other devices as well. My Asus StudioBook cannot decide whether it should use battery or AC power under load (e.g. rendering or games) though. It just continously cycles between the "on battery" / "wall power" logos. During this process the device is not actually drawing much power from the wall. With one charger it just jumps in between 0W and 90W (Choetech PD100W GaN), the other one (Ugreen CD226) just shuts off and stays at 0W. Asus support says that the behavior is completely normal and that the USB-C port should only be used when the device is idle or turned off. When I asked where this (very strong) restriction was stated in the specifications, they could not give me an answer. The type-C power supplies and cables are specified for 100W. I have already measured them on an electronic load, and they definitely deliver what they promise over multiple hours with no issues. Have you ever had a similar experience with a notebook that actually needs significantly more than 100W when you supply them via USB-C under load?
  3. Thanks but this was also something I already tried. When I execute bootrec /FixBoot It says I dont have permission to do this. I've got good news though. Wenn looking further into the missing permission error I found this (german) page: https://de.minitool.com/datentraegerverwaltung/bootrec-fixboot-zugriff-verweigert.html They suggested to format the ~500 MB system partition and the to run the automatic repair again. I did that, the automatic repair said that it was not able to repair anything but after that the Windows booted normally again. Still got no idea how and why this happened and why just exactly this fixed it now.
  4. Hi all, I'm stuck on a problem and do not know what to do. From yesterday to today my PC (Windows 10) does not start anymore. Yesterday evening it shut down normally and today it starts directly in trouble shooting mode. The SSD itself is ok and runs on a USB adapter without problems. When put in another PC as boot medium it also directly shows the troubleshooting page. The SSD is also displayed in the bios and listed as a boot option. SFC /Scannow only throws back "Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation." The same after CHKDSK /f c: is executed. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth returns only. "Error: 87 The option "cleanup-image" is unknown". BOOTREC /scanos shows me that it finds a Windows installation, when I try to put it in the startup list via /rebuildbcd, it just gives me a "The system cannot find the specified path." And yes, I have backups of the files and can still get to them, but I want to avoid a complete reinstallation and the associated installations especially configurations of my programs and tools. If the Windows still starts, it seems that you can install a new Windows, which then replaces all system files from the old one, but keeps programs and files, but I don't see such an option when I use an installation drive. Do you have any ideas that can help here?
  5. Hi all, I recently got a Samsung G7 27" monitor (LC27G75TQSUXEN). The installed firmware is M-TG700CCAA-1003.0, the most recent firmware by Samsung is 1009.3. Whenever I try to update the monitor, it is just not applied. The version stays the same after the update process. I do it like stated in this guide by Samsung https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/FM/202006/20200624192656911/USB_upgrade_G75T.pdf I also filmed how I did it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6SHXw8Oi2I I already tested multiple USB sticks and also different firmware versions. Does anyone have an idea of what I am doing wrong?
  6. Hi all, I have a damaged Zotac 1050 Ti OC (PN 288-1N454-200Z8) that got a few SMD components scraped off the back. I was able to fix some of those and resoldered parts that were just loose but I am still missing some capacitors. On my board they are C590, C513 C566 and two more unmarked ones. The ones with labes are 0805 and the ones without are 0603 sized. I marked the ones I am missing in the image. Can someone tell me a rough capacity of these components so I can replace them?
  7. Hi all, i got a weird problem with all of my USB 3 ports on my Asus Maximus X Hero. All of them only work as USB 2 Ports. Everytime I plug in a USB 3 device I get a message from Windows telling me that i could get higher speeds if i put it into a USB 3 slot. The ports are showing in the device manager, drivers are up to date, i even updated my chipset but that wasn't helping either. In the BIOS everything (ports and controlers) is enabled. This happened from one day to the other, it was working fine for 8 months now and im not aware that i made any changes to the system. Does someone know what could cause this?
  8. Hey guys, i would like to move my Raid 10 Array from my old PC to my new one. I already know that you can migrate Raid arrays that were created with Intels onboard Raid controller and i also already tested it with another Raid 1 array and this worked flawlessly. So i moved my 4 drives to the new PC and did the same as with the test Raid i tried earlier but now only 2 drives are detected as a part of a Raid array. The other 2 are just "non-Raid Disks". Does someone know how to fix that? The new motherboard is a Asus Maximus X Hero, the old one is a Asus P8P67 Deluxe. The drives are 4 x 6 TB WD REDs.
  9. Long pressing the start button did not help either. I also tried to send multiple WoL packages in a short time but the PC still did nothing except for clicking.
  10. It is. I boosted the sound so you can hear it better, it is not loud or anything but you can hear it with the case closed. I will try pressing it longer, the next few times i start it. Otherwise it runs just fine. No shudowns or anything. But if that is the reason for it, there is propably no way to extend that signal duration for Wake on Lan, right? I mean, the PC does start by just clicking the button shortly but it just takes so long. My old one started instantly.
  11. I recently swapped my old be quiet PSU with an EVGA G2 750W.When i try to start my PC via Wake on Lan, like i used to do with my old PSU, the EVGA one just clicks 2 times and nothing else happens. When i push the start button of my PC it takes a few seconds, then it clicks 2 times again and then it eventually starts. Is this normal, is my PSU faulty? This never happened with my old one and nothing else changed. When it is on, it runs just fine. I recorded the sounds during startup:
