  1. Hello everyone! I know that usually the interest in this forum are about gaming or video rigs however for Christmas my older sister wants to get a new laptop, and has asked my advice in helping pick it out. Therefore, I immediately knew that this community would be perefect to ask in my search for the perfect Christmas laptop. She is merely seeking a laptop for casual everyday use, lightweight stuff like browsing the internet and watching videos. In addition, she is a huge Sims fan and loves playing the Sims 4 so preferably a laptop with a bit of gaming power would be the best fit in my opinion so that she can play the game at high settings and has some power to run maybe more demanding games if she wishes to explore gaming a bit more. If any of you have ideas for the model I should recommend, especially models widely available in Europe, it would be a tremendous help and really make these holidays a special occasion!
  2. Goal of the Build: This is my first build, so the goal was to have a gaming rig which can let me game at 1080p max settings but which is still modern and powerful enough to game for years to come without needing upgrades like a year down the line. So below is the link to the PC part picker page with all the details and below the link is my justification for why I chose each part. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ Specs: CPU: I chose the AMD Ryzen 5 2600X because it seems reliable and a breeze to install. Plus thanks to the 6 cores on it there isn't a huge need to upgrade later down the line so I'll be well off in terms of CPU power, plus I only do like mild video editing for school projects and I don't stream so its not like I need a very beefy CPU meant for huge amounts of multi-tasking Motherboard: Very simple reasons why I chose this, its not over-expensive, it has everything I need and yet still has some room to upgrade like add more RAM, so this for the price seems like a good deal and makes me pretty future proof RAM: I just went for the standard 2 sticks of 4gb of RAM each setup which is classic. Even though newer triple A games have demanded more RAM than ever before and more VRAM I think this is plenty for now Storage: For this I went for a hard drive and SSD combo, so OS on SSD and most documents on the hard drive, like school essays. If down the line I need more memory that's not a huge worry cause I have a decent stack of hard drives from old computers which still function perfectly GPU: The GTX 1070ti is just a great card, don't know if they are better versions of the card compared to the EVGA version, but really this is enough power for quite awhile until I'll need to upgrade. Case: Cooler Master is a great company with some damn good cases, so I chose this one cause it's from a reliable company and rather inexpensive for what I'm getting Power Supply: Enough to feed the system with plenty of power and plus you really can't go wrong with Corsair Bronze Certified power supplies, its not too expensive and should work fantastically
  3. Yeah I changed it to dual channel, and when it comes to hard drives I already have a couple in my house to use. Do you have any case that you would recommend which would be better yet similar price?
  4. Sweet, if I get lucky on my birthday and do some summer jobs I could definitely have the headway for the GTX 1070
  5. Thanks I changed the pc part picker load out and honestly looks like a great setup.
  6. Thanks I updated the RAM, same manufacture but definitely faster. Btw should I maybe consider a GTX 1070 or 1070 TI
  7. Hey I wanted to get some advice on this gaming rig I want to build. Now this is my first gaming PC that I will build by hand so I'm open to any suggestions.Goal: My only real goal with this rig is to game at 1080p for a few years and have the rig be open to upgrades (like extra RAM or a better GPU) without setting my wallet on fireSpecs: Here are the specs of the rig on System Builder: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/user/Orangedude12345/saved/ZpdjcfHere are the reasons why I picked each part (excluding wireless adapter and keyboard)CPU: AMD is reliable and I thought the 6 cores make it pretty future proof whilst remaining fair pricedMotherboard: Has all the features I need plus with crossfire support I could down the line switch to two AMD GPU's and put them in crossfire (slightly ridiculous but still neat)RAM: 8gb is all I need basically and with only it being on one stick there is ample opportunity to expandStorage: I know that 1TB is slightly low but I actually have a few other hard drives in old family computers that I could use. (If anyone knows a good yet affordable SSD please tell)Power Supply: The 550W can fuel all my needs and gives me some headway to expand the rig if I want to down the line plus Corsair is reliable and not too pricey Case: Great case while still being affordable plus the window is neat to show off my first hand-made PCPlease leave as many suggestions you have! Thank you
  8. 290x looks good but to me 390 with it 8gb of VRAM is more future proof
  9. I have posted my build here is the link I can go used but I don't like the risk I will update some info on that post as well
  10. In my country Luxembourg which is in Europe at 13 you get a bank account which allows you to withdraw a tiny bit of money per day though I think I can add funds to it I will check if can use Paypal
  11. The discount is 30 to 40 euros cheaper and for my tight budget this is so important because my original price was in the 900 euros and it has gone in the 800 euros
  12. Thanks I am tight on budget because I am a teenager so I have no job so I am relying on selling my old games and selling my old pc parts and also doing chores for my parents to get pocket money
  13. I am new to PC gaming so some terms are new to me so excuse any dumb questions I just wish to be sure that my first rig is perfect as can be
  14. Yes I know but is it reliable and is getting it brand new better
  15. Hello everyone I am building my first rig and I have a question I want to lower costs on this rig on useless things so right now I chose refurbished HDD and GPU from amazon because the significant lower price point is that good idea the reviews on the products shipper are excellent and both are practically new and both have a return policy to them please advice so should I buy both refurbished for a lower price or should I get them sparky new please comment down below
