Thanks for the advice man, much appreciated. My birthday isn't too far away, in September, so if im honest my parents might buy me the cpu

Alright, I was actually looking into switching to skylake and buying the 6500 before I saw the 4460, but i've seen how the 4460 performs in my friends rig and it's great. So do you think I should just save and buy say, a 6500, a H110 mobo and the sugo in one go? I'll probablt by a D3 mobo though so I can re-use my RAM...

I already have the 860K, I just want to switch to intel and thought that would pass me by for a few months til i get the i5?

Hi, my name is Lee. I would like your help with something. First off, let me list my current PC rig: Athlon X4 860K 4.2GHz ASUS A58M-E 1 x 8GB DDR3 1866MHz HyperX FURY Gigabyte Dual Windforce GTX 950 OC Coolermaster G550M PSU CM Hyper TX3 EVO cooler I would like to downsize my rig, and get a silverstone sugo SG13B case. I would also like to switch over to intel, preferably an i5 (I was looking at an i5 4460) The only trouble is, I don't get a lot of money (i'm a student) and i'm very impatient, so I was thinking, why don't I just buy a G3258 and a Z97 mobo and then that will give me an upgrade to path? I have done quite a lot of research around the two CPUs, (860K vs G3258) and from what I can gather, the Pentium is level to the 860K (4.4GHz) while stock, and better when it is OC'd. I do quite a bit of gaming, and a lot of video/Photo editing (Sony Vegas Pro 13/Photoshop CS6) for my YouTube channel. The only reason I thought about the G3258 was because it is supposedly on par with my amd chip and will give me a good upgrade path. Where it's only a dual core, will I be affected in rendering videos? or because it's intel (who are know as superior for rendering over AMD) will it be the same/faster? I'm not to fussed about the games side of things, as Most of the games I play are fine on dual cores. Is this worth it or should I wait until I can save another £100 and buy like a H81 Chipset mobo and the i5? As I said, I'm impatient, and would like to, again, switch to mini ITX/Intel, or is there a Pentium in the Skylake range that would be good enough (similar to the G3258/860K) that I can use until I buy something like an i5 6600? Thanks for any help/Info in advance, If any more info is needed i'll reply with it

Ok so basically, is this what you mean? - -keep my HDD in the machine. -plug in USB with Clonezilla on and plug in the SSD with the external enclosure. -run Clonezilla and do all of what I need to do on that. -unplug everything. -swap out my HDD for the SSD. and it should all be working fine? sorry, I do understand what you mean but I am just double checking
-
thanks for the reply, by partition to partition, does that mean i can clone the for example, 100gb partition, to a 100gb partition i make on the SSD, and then once my notebook is up and running on the SSD, i can join the partitions back together? where does the usb come in? I have used rufus before and also, i do have a usb3 external ssd/hdd enclosure if that makes things easier.

What are your opinion for Lenovo Thinkpad E560?
XJ980 replied to vkosev's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
if you was to buy a laptop with specs like that then you could probably get quite high frame rates at decent settings in dota 2. i had a hp laptop with very similar specs and i was getting around 60 fps in csgo at medium to high settings -
Hi I have a question that hopefully the LTT community can help me with. I would like to upgrade my old 2011 Samsung N145+ Notebook. It has an Atom 1.66GHz, 1GB RAM, and a 250GB HDD with things like Windows 10 and Photoshop CS6. I am going to upgrade it to 2GB of RAM and I want to put a 120GB SSD into it. I know about cloning drives and stuff, but its just one thing I would like to ask. Obviously I can't clone a 250GB HDD to a 120GB SSD, but if I made, for example, a 100GB partition on the normal HDD, which has Windows and all of my data on, would I be able to clone just that partition to the SSD? If so, what free tool/tools can I do this with? Thanks in advance for any help!

you can sli any card in the 900 series, its the 750(Ti) that you're thinking of
-
sorry i must have missed it out, i can't afford to get anything at that price point so i would like to know if, when i can, just get another 950 because it would be cheaper.

hi there i have a question for the LTT community to hopefully help me with! I have a gaming PC with a GTX 950 and I am stuck. my current rig: i7 3770K ASUS P8P67 EVO Rev 3 16GB DDR3 1866MHz Gigagbyte Dual Windforce GTX 950 OC Cooler Master TX3 EVO Cooler (Soon gonna upgrade to liquid cooling) + 3 x 120mm case fans 60GB SSD (for Programs/Windows) 1TB HDD (for games/mass storage) Cooler Master K350 case Cooler Master G550M Semi Modular PSU I really want a GTX 970 but I can never afford it, so is it worth me buying another of my 950s to throw in? I know that GTX 950 SLI weighs up to a 970 and is very similar in performance (if not better in some things). So other than a cooler looking rig (everyone knows SLI looks cool ) , what will be the benefits? what games am i going to have issues with compatibility? will it do my video rendering speeds a favor? (i do a lot of YouTube work) can anyone help me please? thanks in advance!

Kaveri was AMDs 2013 line of Processors and Godavari is the Kaveri 'Refresh' which was early 2015
-
I know it doesn't matter too much but Godavari is Later than Kaveri?? and with the manufacturing process and architecture theres next to no difference??
-
so when I get the 380 do you think I should sell the A8 then buy an 860K???
-
so if my setup is: A8 7670k 2x8GB 1866MHz RAM R9 380 A58M-E 120GB SSD 500GB HDD 550w PSU Does anyone have any sorta benchmarks to anything so I know what sorta games it will play at medium-max 1080p @60fps???
