  1. Well after multiple reinstalls and random crashes that had me convinced I had a dying gpu after fresh window, new SSDs and multiple other things. The was a small hair in the ram slot..... Extremely intermittent crashes and would pass ram tests until yesterday. It failed a couple ram test so I tore the computer down and cleaned it expecting to buy new ram. I used my USB microscope to just check the ram slots and seen a hair. Pulled it out and reassembled and have had 0 issues so far
  2. i have been fighting this for a couple of days now. I have a ryzen 3600x with 32gb of 3200mhz ram a gtx 1080 and windows and my games installed on SSDs. monitor is a xg2402 so just running 1080p 144hz. basically all games are showing this same issue the past month or two and doesnt matter what i set the graphics settings to i still get bad frame drops and render latency that bounces between 8-15ms. docp is set for the ram and all temps are low this video is from destiny 2 on all medium setting at 1080p
  3. tried that also. moved from the upstairs bedroom to the downstairs office
  4. System is an Asus x570 p with a 3600 and 32 gigs of timetec 3200 ram msi gtx 1080 and a corsair cx750. Im on my 3rd processor 2nd mother and countless ssds and reinstall of windows. The pc runs great after a power fully off and back on until a few sleep cycles. After those few cycles I get weird lockups that last about a second and happen I'd say once a minute if not sooner. Literally everything but the cursor locks up then goes back to normal. I've sped up/slowed down the ram and cpu many times and no change. When that starts I power fully off for a few seconds then back on. After that it's perfect for a good while. Bios is now set to all default and no changes after new cpu or motherboard so idk what to try next. Ram passed all ram checks many times I've tried.
  5. well from here it sounds like theres an issue with a power rail on the asus boards pcie bus. the 970 uses a vastly different power control system than the 2080. if the mower management system detects a low or missing rail from any power source it shuts the card down (minus fans and lights). its not an issue with the card since it works fine in the other mobo so id say as a last ditch effort to clean the pcie on the motherboard with some ipa but its a slim chance that will do anything seeing as both ports dont work with that card. unless your good at hardware level diagnostics id say its in need of a new mobo or swap for a card that works in it lol. its only 4 months old, is it a custom build or is it a pre built? you can try booting linux and using some list commands to see if theres any hardware level interactions going on. have you tried reinstalling windows? i highly doubt its software but ive been wrong plenty.
  6. What does device manager say with the 2080 in the Asus mobo?
  7. I'd try both. It could be a bad pcie slot bad power leads or the card has a bad power rail. I fix a ton of 9 and 10 series Nvidia cards missing either the 1.8v or 3.3v rail on the gpu itself that causes the lights and fans to work fine but no video and it won't show up in device manager. Try it on another motherboard if you can or atleast another slot and power leads.
  8. Never out of hand. I never really see the gpu go past 80% since I game at 1080p. When I'm running the benchmark in division 2 where I see the issues the most the cpu stays around 30-40. After setting the fabric clock to 1800mhz I really don't see the problem anymore. I can't say for sure the problem is gone but it's seems like it is so far. I'm about to play some half life alyx so I'll see them. Seems like leaving the fabric on auto on this board is an issue
  9. ive reinstalled and updated basically everything about 5 times now. its basically what you would get from a hanging core with a bad oc but i have everything set to default but the ram
  10. i will try that in a second. so far ive tried in the bios setting the fabric frequency to 1600 to match the ram instead of auto and i havent seen a snag yet. only been about 5 minutes tho
  11. i thought the same. ive ddu'd everything many times. tried a few different video cards from both amd and nvidia and no change. i just noticed the problem carries over in the bios also. status bars lagging when changing options and highlighted text staying highlighted for a second or two. ive just did another load optimized defaults and set the docp and a few other random settings i read to try and ill see if anything changes
  12. i cant figure this out and am at a loss. new build and having very weird lag issues every where. as im typing this the desktop just freezes for a few seconds and resembles an unstable overclock as in the mouse still moves but thats really it. the buttons i hover over disappear while its hanging and all fine once it stops. typing the cursor flashes as normal but no texts pops up for a second or 2 then it all floods out at once. gaming goes great until a hang then massive frame drops and loss of all tracking in vr which is the worst. its hard to explain what its doing but its horrible. i have the task manager open and nothing spikes at all. in vr the steam compositor will show the cpu spiking and causing major frame loss. ive swapped the motherboard the ram power supply and ssd. the only thing i havent swapped yet is the processor. im running the 3600 with a h100i on an asus prime x570p all updated with 32 gigs of 3200mhz ram with a m.2 ssd corsair cx700m power supply and a gtx 1080. its becoming unusable. ive left all bios settings at default and only loaded the docp for the ram. set ryzen master to default reinstalled windows many times. tried m.2 ssd a sata ssd. im out of ideas and figured i try here before i rma the processor
  13. So it seems my corsair cx750 is my problem. I have the above parts in now along with my $60 1080ti I just repaired and I'm still getting major hitching and frame drops. So I ran furmark and heaven with hwmonitor. Every time it would hitch all rails would drop to 3.0, 4.6, 11.5 and then shoot back up to normal. Power supply is just out of warranty unfortunately. I threw in my super cheap apevia 700w that I use when repairing mobos and video cards that I stuck in and haven't had a problem yet but that thing scares me long term.
  14. Sounds good to me. Before I order tho is this motherboard decent?
