  1. I have an ASUS RT-AC66R router running DDWRT (DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/22/14) std - build 23940) hooked to my spectrum cable modem (100Mbit/10Mbit), I am having issues with the whole router just randomly going down, and rebooting itself. i have checked all the power settings, and I even tried lowering them to 80% output for Wifi. 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. typically I only have the cell phones 3-5, tablets 2, and maybe the 2.4ghtz chromecast.. so the wifi network demand is'nt that high.. on LAN I have 2 desktops, a Roku box, an android box, and my soon to be defunct NAS box, and PS3, and PS4. I have even tried to revert back to the original Firmware, but without success. should I start looking for a new router? this router is only about 2 years old. any suggestions on a replacement? preferably something fast, with decent range.. even looking at the MESH types with the possibility of going fully wired network with a Ubiquity WAP. just dont know the best option... my house is roughly 60x24ft, single level ranch. no concrete other than the full basement. wifi outside on some of the lawn would be great, but not necessary (for yardwork tunes). my easiest option, and not only would it be free is to get a TWC router/wifi... although I have no idea what they use.. I'm assuming its an all in one modem/router/wifi Arris variant.
  2. I built a system over the winter with: I-7 6700k OC's to 4.2 with hyper evo 212 Gigabyte z170x UD5 board 2 8gb corsair vengeance LPX 3000mhz stick going with another 2 soon. Asus ROG strix 1080 8gb 1730mhz OC'able to 2050mhz easily SAMSUNG 256gb 950 PRO M.2 (board has support for 2 in a raid 0 config, looking into this) have a 4TB freenas server for all other data, and planning to migrate it all onto a 5 drive redundant disk array (raid 5, or 6) in this system Im currently running on an old dell 22" EW228WFP screen and Im completely lost looking at all the choices out there. I doubt I'll get far into the 4k realm, but would be nice to have the option, 10 bit color would be nice,.but something cheaper with acurate colors would be a nice bonus. USB 3.0 hub (bonus) and also looking at the possibility of a (VESA?) adjustable mount system for my office desk any suggestions for a cheapish larger monitor? looking at anywhere between $300-500 I may just use my Sony Bravia 32" 1080p TV for now. but nowhere near the resolution this card can push,
  3. I highly recommend the samsung 950pro m.2 drive. I ahve the 256gb version, and it flies!! never gotten below a 2100MBps read speeds, writes are in the 800's.. they are pricey though. later I'm planning on getting anotehr and putting it in RAID 0.
  4. I'm patiently waiting for my order.. lol.. hoping to get a founders edition 1080. saving my pennies.
  5. currently running on my new rig intel i7 6700k 16gb DDR4 3000mhz. (no GPU just onboard for now) averaging about 3700 with this machine when my laptop is on it runs. not lately though. it's a Dell XPS 17" core i7 2.0ghz 8gb ram, nvidia 555m GPU. (not the best machine for pegging at 99%, so i capped it at 75%.
  6. as stated before it's not scalable... 10 1080s is not going to be 10x better than 1 1080. after 2 or 3 way sli the returns will not be worth it.
  7. got new RAZER deathadder chroma mouse, and a Roccat mousepad (mid sized). this is SMOOTH..... should do better in DOTA2 until I upgrade the vid card to a 1080...
  8. I had enough of the maple plywood left over that I made a 6 shelf DVD rack, that's in my living room. holds 41 blu-ray /DVDs per shelf.
  9. the top is 3/4" birch faced plywood (double sided veneer). the table is actually very stable with 5 legs. the legs are held in with 3 bolts each they are also solid maple. you can also get many other species of harwood veneer plywoods. the 3/4 is definitly sturdy enough.
  10. build one, it's the only way you know you'll get what you want. this is the custom desk I built originally for myself, but then I altered, and did a really nice finish (called helmsman's, it's a hard durable clearcoat, but way cheaper than epoxy), and now my wife uses iut for her home office. mine is a bit etravagant.. Maple legs, and sides with a birch top, and mahogany inlay. But you can build one to suit your needs much better than what's available commercially. Basically why I built this one. I'll post up my next adventure. since I've been kicked out of this office. (she literally boxed up my stuff and threw it in the basement!!) so now I am going to build my "MAN CAVE" literally building a soundproofed room, with a locking door. I deserve it. plus it's very cramped here in the living room trying to play a game when everyone else is watching tv.
  11. just want something for my new PC, been working witht eh onboard, and kinda sick of it. can't play any intensive games.. rest of the system is set.
  12. they say may 27th, andone know if there's a site taking preorders? or is this going to be a scramble? should I wait a few months, or should I wait for the 980Ti's to drop in price?
  13. believe me I just scanned, and deleted this from all my computers spent over 3 hours dealing with it on the NAS. as well as checking all our phones for the file/malware. it's been taken care of. so far it has not populated on any scans, and all norton updated scans show clear.
  14. I'm the only one that uses the FreeNas box.. its not a huge issue, Not a lot of critical software/file on the Nas anyways.
  15. ops also scanned the network attached drives, was able to remove some manually, but they are all over the place. Trojan Bitcoin miners... doubt they actually work on the NAS.. but what a pain...
