  1. using MSI AB when i start them out at 1220mhz i dont actually put 1220 into the core clock category right? it just adds on to whatever my stock clock is from in there? also how do i find out what my stock clock is?
  2. Curious if could get some advice on my first GPU over clock It's going to be on an EVGA GTX 760 my case has a lot of fans also two 120mm on the front one 120mm on the back and one 200mm on the top. I'm curious as to what setting i should run in MSI afterburner i should start at. I'm aware i should only adjust one setting at a time and then run a benchmark to stress test it and see if it crashes or not, so I'm using the heaven benchmark, just curiious on what kind of settings i should be aiming at also curious as to what kind of temperature within afterburner would be kind of a safe max temp
  3. It's just as easy as dragging and dropping what i want to keep on to my HDD and then when i reinstall on my SDD everything will work just fine?
  4. I'm moving over a new MOBO and CPU into my rig and was told I should reinstall windows 7 after I do this... Windows 7 is currently on my SSD, I intend to reinstall it back on to my SSD, does this mean that I should move over my files from SSD to HDD that I want to keep or will the re install not wipe the SSD?
  5. I will be installing windows back on to the same SSD that it is currently on... Does that mean I have to wipe everything else on that SSD? Or should just installing it be pretty straight forward?
  6. Can anyone give me a link or step by step directions to how I would fully wipe a PC's hard drive (on windows 7) I'm asking because I intend to change out the motherboard and CPU and then re install windows 7 on to it. thanks
  7. I guess that I'd have to swap, then reinstall and then get the drivers in that order then?
  8. Hi there, I'm looking for some help with swapping out some parts from my bothers old rig into mine. I am wanting to steal is motherboard and processor and throw it into my rig, keeping my hard drives, PS, GPU and everything. Is physically switching them out just as easy as removing my board, putting his in and plugging in all my stuff? He told me I will need to get some drivers before switching them out? it's an Asus P8H67-M LE with an i7 2600k But I'm also wanting to put my mobo and cpu into his old case with the rest of his stuff to give to a friend that mobo it's a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R with an i7 920 any links to drivers or youtube how to type videos would be really appreciated
  9. I have a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R motherboard (supports triple channel ram) I currently have a triple channel kit 3x2g 1333mHz I've been offered a free dual channel kit of 2x4g 1333mHz am I better off sticking to the triple channel kit at 6gb or going to dual channel kit of 8gb (they are different brands and sizes so I assume going 2x4gb and 1x2gb is out of the question)
  10. Keep in mind I'm aiming for budget ish here, I think i'd be fine with stepping down to an i5 at this point
  11. So I am looking to update my PC, I fully custom built it around 6 years ago, and have only updated the GPU as it stand this is my set up... CPU: intel i7 920 GPU: GTX 760 Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Memory: 6gb 1333 mHz (triple channel) PS: 700w (not sure what brand) Hard drve: 500gb hard disk // 240g solid state Case: Antec 900 So basically I use my set up for some photo editing, light video editing and gaming. I'm not worried about maxing games out and am currently getting half decent frame rates, but I feel its time for some updates. A big issue is that I don't currently have any USB 3.0 or 3.1 slots because of my super old MOBO, which also sports an oh so dated triple channel ram, so I can't really upgrade my ram first as triple channel ram doesn't really exist any more. I'm sad to see my i7 go even if it is super old, I figure becuase its 1336 socket this means I won't be able to put it in a new mobo and wait to upgrade my processor? I'm sure I should be able to keep my case, PS, hard drives, and GPU but will need to update the rest. So basically I would like some budget-ish recommendations on upgrades (preferably that won't go out of date for some time) for my CPU and MOBO, ram should be easy enough to choose. oh and just to let y'all know I'm up in Canada so try to link me from www.newegg.ca // www.memoryexpress.com // www.ncix.ca Any suggestions will help
  12. The more i'm reading, I am finding that it looks to be an issue with the BIOS and not the actually physical compatibility with the card
  13. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1987829/gtx-660-compatible-ipisb-carmel2-motherboard.html heres one case where someone is saying it isn't working for them
  14. I'm trying to help my friend out with upgrading his super old pre built HP desktop, here are the specs... CPU: i5 2400 3.1 ghz RAM: 8gb 1333 ddr3 GPU: Radeon HD 7450 PS: 300W Motherboard: IPISB-CU // p7-1245 All he is looking to get right now is a new (used) GPU something like a GTX 650ti, 660, 760 or 770 But I'm thinking he would also need a new PS, maybe a 500W is that the case? But after some stuff I have read online it's looking like that while a lot of the newer cards will fit into this mobo, they are not able to make it past the windows boot screen after they have installed the new card, due to incompatibility? heres a post relating to what I mean http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1987829/gtx-660-compatible-ipisb-carmel2-motherboard.html Any info regarding his set up and what cards would be compatible would be greatly appreciated.
