  1. wow you guys have helped overwhelmingly thanks. Its not that I want the 710 specifically, but that is sort of my price range the 720s are far too expensive. I also found out that HP dl380's might support graphics cards better than the dells. but none of that is worthwhile if I cannot use the GPU in a remote desktop anyway, but you answered that question. thanks The rationale for this project is that it would teach me some of this stuff, and in the end I would have a decently powerful home solution, I would consider running a VM with a plex server as well.. furthermore Linus' Elgato thunderbolt hubs are like $190 in his personal rig. I want to replace that with a thin client and run a powerful loud server in the closet. with ethernet cables instead of an expensive thunderbolt cable. Thanks again for all the help so far guys, it honestly sort of surprised me how helpful this forum is, seeing this is my first time here.
  2. Hello LTT Forum, So I am new here so appologies for my freshness. But I have a dream for my future home computing. I would like to do something similar to 10 gamers 1 cpu, but with used hardware and I need it to work as a desktop workstation. The usecases will be CAD and other 3d modeling, content creation, Learning Virtual machines and maybe in the future some deep learning. I would like it to be as cheap as possible, so I want to use a used Dell poweredge R710 or equivilent. Alright I understand that that platform might not be ideal for a GPU, but is it possible? Alright so now that that is out of the way, what would be the best remote desktop software to use so that the loud server can be in the closset and I can work where it is quiet, and how do I set it up? Thanks NewSogn
