buying Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite AM4 AMD Ryzen 9 3900X never built a amd rig before so i dont know how they go with ram compatibility im looking at 2 ddr4 16gb sticks at 3200 but have no idea what to look into for it any suggestions or help would be fab

i just bought this pc last week with the i7 4960X and a 1080 and the cpu was over clocked to 4.2ghz running perf but loud as hell so i attempted to move the fans off a controller to system fan connectors to try and slow them more to get the sound down and after doing this i got boot failures and made me revert to optimised defaults before it'd boot the bloke i got it from said its tricky with its fans so i put them back to how they were and tried re overclocking but i must be missing something i cant get anywhere near the 4.2ghz without inane stability issues, any over clocking gurus out there able to give some insight to what i might be missing? my motherboard is a gigabyte GA-x79-UD3 2011

i live in Australia and i just got switch onto our nbn and my old TP link 300mbs modem/router wont talk to the new line they have new modems that only understand the nbn or some shit but this new modem my isp sent only have 2 Ethernet ports and we have 4 Ethernet lines to computer and security systems and ive tried using the tp link as its router function but she just doesnt wanna play ball i had to take all the panels and shit off it so its just base pcb because it would otherwise over heat and i think that has fucked the thing a little but im just woundering if i can just get a 6 port ethernet switch and run the 2 Ethernet ports to the switch then plug the rest of our shit into the switch im not sure if a router need to be in between the switch and modem thank you for any help and advice

can someone please tell me if i really need all of these Microsoft visuals C++ versions and types i feel like its probably slowing my computer down having them all installed but im not sure if my games will work ive i remove some i dont even know how i got so many of them in the first place

my family likes watching movies and other shit but we hate fucking around putting a movie on a usb and taking out to the theatre pc pasting it onto that pc just to watch it together its such a hassle and we have to do the same with everything so i tried using that "sharing" thing in windows and ive got a single drive hotswap dock with a drive in it and im sharing that entire hard drive but i cant for the life of me find the bottle neck i have a 1gbs lan cable running to the modem and the modem is capable of 300mbs transfer speeds but im being limited to 11mbs and thats okay i guess its better than 6mbs from my modems usb cloud connection but i just cant understand why im not getting anything faster is there another cloud option that would be faster for me ? i dont want one of those ones where you have to log into a browser page because my mum inst tec savy enough to use that and this windows sharing one is sweet because you can map the shared drive and it shows up in "this pc" like the other drives do any help would be very appreciated

i changed the sli bridge position and im getting a little better fps in fallout 4 but i couldn't find a single v sync setting in falllouts settings so i couldnt turn it off i tried to play arma but the screen stutters like crazy like it gose black then picture the black then picture but dose it so fast its like a strobe light so its either corrupted game files or the card isnt playing it properly now

v sync is turned on but without it id have frame splitting wouldnt i ? and okay ill move it to the other fingers

someone has already walked me through useing DDU and downgrading my drivers to 347.88 and the performance is still the same i havent taken the card back i only got it 2 days ago and i want to make sure its not a problem with how i have it set up or something else on my end and the person that had me do the DDU thing said my 3D mark scores were good and that the card and sli was working (after doing the DDU thing it went from the score off 18223 to 17771) im not sure if thats common or if the old driver just dosent perform as good

ive had one gtx 980 for almost a year and this week ive added a second one into sli and im having quite bad performance, in fallout 4 im averaging 30fps with quite violent spikes up to 60 then straight back down that makes it very unplayable in arma 3 im averaging 20 fps and only rarely goes over 40fps in both these games i had 50/60fps before the second card was installed my running 1920x1080 at 60hz (the second card was bought because i was about to buy a new monitor and move up to 4k) id just like help fixing this lack of performance before ive had the card to long otherwise i cant take it back since im think about doing that and selling the other card and useing that money to get a 980ti OS- windows 10 x64 cpu- 4790k 4.0ghz ram- 16gb ddr3 GPU- gigabyte g1 gameing geforce GTX 980 x2 motherboard- Z97X gaming 3 power supply- thermaltake 1000w gold
