  1. YouTube Video Review Vido W8X Review Introduction. This review is about the Vido W8X, One of the lesser known brands of chinese electronics in Shenzhen. Also an few dollars more expensieve as its competitors making it an less sold device. Today we are going to find out. Price and specs. At the moment the Vido W8X switches from owner for $99.89. It has the following specifications CPU: Intel Atom x5-Z8300 RAM: 2GB ROM/STORAGE: 32GB SCREEN: 8.0 inch 1280 x 800 IPS OS: Windows 10 BATTERY: 4200mAh Dual cameras Bluetooth 4.0 HDMI + Headphone + Micro USB + TF Design and build quality. Screen protector is scratched by me. The first thing you can notice is the nice detail with white and black color. holding the tablet towards yourself gives the impression its entirely black. While holding it the way around makes it look all white. I think this is an nice design feature. Left to right: Cube iwork8, Chuwi Vi8 Plus, Vido W8X As you can see the tablet is pretty much plastic. The design is not very high end material. However this tablet has the best screen / bezel ratio! The white Cube iwork8 above. With the same 8 inch screen size. Takes more space. Another thing I like about this model is the native windows touch button. The chuwi has an more inconvenient button at the top that doesn't really do the job. As for the thickness its about the same as the rest. Inputs and outputs. Another distinct design choice is the labeling of the inputs and outputs on the backside of the tablet. Labels showing the input and output ports. These labels might come in handy but can look an bit chaotic. But so does the chinese text on the back. First thing I wanted to talk about is the speaker. Like the other models it has an single speaker on the back. The difference between these is that the speaker of the Vido W8X is not just loud. But also without much distortion. But as you would expect for an single speaker in an device like this. It does not sound that great. There is no bass and pretty much only high sound gets blown out the small hole on the back. See the video for comparison. Another thing worth mentioning is that its TF supports up to 128GB. while the Chuwi plus supports up to 64GB. and the Cube iwork 8 does just 32GB. Also the HDMI out worked without any problems. Ive used an microSDXC class 1, 64GB EVO from samsung. It got very good results and has not have an bottleneck using it. Micro HDMI out and TF card speed test. The camera as always are the 2.0mp modules. Almost not worth mentioning. Even with the not so bad design this tablet has on the backside camera. The results speak for itsself. I would not do anything more then use skype with this. It has loads of artifacts. Screen. For the screen must be the best thing about this device. Its very color accurate and doesn't have the yellowish tint the Chuwi devices have. The minimun brightness is nice and low while the maximum brightness is really bright. The cube iwork 8 also has an nice screen but does not go as bright or dimmed as the Vido W8X. Also after an few weeks of traveling with me the screen got light bleeding spots. I think this is because of cheaper glue. I hopefully write another post later with more details and update's on old devices. 100% brightness and spots on the cube iwork8 Left to right: Vido W8X, Chuwi Vi8 Plus, Cube iwork8 Also worth noticing is the 10 touch points on the screen. The cube has half. making this tablet more accurate with regonizing touch. Or atleast it should be. I haven't noticed any diffrence myself jet. Battery life. This is one of the more dissapointing things about this tablet. Even with its not small 4200 mAh battery. It only lasted for 3H, 49M, 10S. The lowest of scores. Even under the iwork 8 with only 3300mAh. that scored 4H, 3M, 41S. The test is playing an youtube video of nyan cat over and over agian till it shutsdown. Even with this bad score almost 4 hour with screen on time is not bad. Depending what you are using the tablet for. I often read books on it for about 2 hours an day. then recharge overnight. Performance. As you could witness above the TF card slot performance is quite good. But not just that. The entire flash storage of this device is the fastest of all competition. You really do notice the diffrence in boot speed. Here are the benchmarks. For the CPU its the same as previous and other tablets. So is the geekbench score. It might get an bit warm to the touch in the back aswell with heavy useage. Almost all tablets got this problem with the quite powerfull cpu in an small device. Most people however won't try to play much games on this device. The WiFi speed is okay with about 55 mbits up and down. But the connection range is actually really good. It only loses 1/3 of the WiFi arch. Meaning it could go even further. Language and default installation. Notice pro/home and touch points. This tablet comes with a pre-installed version of Windows Home. not Pro. However. the diffrence between pro or home is worth nothing for tablets. It lacks functions that you would not need on this tablet. The version it bringes is also one of the latest updates. It does not offer you any "welcome to windows" settings like the Chuwi does. Meaning when you turn it on. it already is configured with an user and various options. Windows is properly activated. This also does mean it has the chinese search engine as default and some windows UI labels are still chinese, as seen on shutdown. The rest is english. Time is also set in chinese. These UI labels and time you can change in the settings. Useage / Conclusion. I would recommand to use this tablet in Windows "tablet" modus for the non power users. making it easier to use for everyday checking news or weather or reading books. Pro's: Screen. Flash Storage. Size. Con's: Battery. Price. Language. You can buy the tablet here
  2. Youtube video Chuwi Vi8 Plus Review. Introduction. This tablet. the second windows 10 tablet that I am reviewing on this site. Is the follow-up of the older Chuwi Vi8 dual boot tablet with windows 8.1 and android. The reason this one is worth reviewing is that its has the latest on-board specifications. Price and specifications. For the moment of writing this review the price is $91 at gearbest. The specifications are as follows CPU: Intel Atom x5-Z8300 RAM: 2GB ROM/STORAGE: 32GB SCREEN: 8.0 inch 1280 x 800 IPS OS: Windows 10 BATTERY: 4000mAh Dual cameras Bluetooth 4.0 HDMI + Headphone +USB C + TF Design and build quality.Well. there is no doubt about the design and build quality of this tablet. It looks and feels very high end to me. And it looks a lot more expensive as it actually is. Here are some pictures for the eyes. The size of the tablet is actually between the old Chuwi and Cube iwork8. Inputs and outputs.Where my old Chuwi had some mini HDMI problems. This one worked instantly. But the most intressting thing about this device is the USB-C connector. I am still not sure if this is an advantage or an disadvantage, One of the advantages is that its an upcoming standard of connecting devices. And a lot of cables will be USB C very soon. Its reversible so you can never put it in the wrong way like an micro USB or normal USB adapter. The disadvantage is that it doesn't come with an OTG cable meaning you can't use your old OTG cables to connect your mouse or keyboard either. You need to buy an new one. As for the camera and speakers they seem to be exactly the same as the older chuwi and iwork8. Nothing to talk home about. Check this review for more information Screen. The screen of this device is like much other 8 inch windows tablets. an 1280 x 800 IPS screen. however. this screen is definitely less then its competitor iwork8. It has an clear yellow tint if you hold it next to the cube iwork8. The yellow at the top is the chuwi plus. Because of this. the cube iwork8 is also brighter. Battery life. For this I've made an new test benchmark myself. This test goes as follows, The tablet is charged to 100% battery and the latest version of chrome is opened along with task manager and Batterymon. Youtube replay will replay the nyan cat video for aslong as it can. meanwhile every 10 or so seconds. an log is updated on the device to keep track of the current battery percentage. The screen is set on about half of the brightness or an bit lower or higher matching the previous tested tablet as good as possible. The CPU most of the time seems to get around 12% usage. The following are the results. I think playing video for about 4 to almost 5 hours. is an pretty good result. You can see the plus model does have the best time versus battery capacity ratio. Performance. The performance is actually pretty disappointing. The flash storage. which is very important in devices like this. Is about HALF *click* the speed of the original model and the iwork8. This means programs and windows will load noticeably slower, The CPU is the same model as the one on the iwork8 and therefore has almost the same performance. Its strange to see the Vi8 with the older CPU getting the best scores. Because the base clock GHZ is lower as the new CPU's. For the WiFi I found out the speed is very variable from about 35 to 72 Mbits per second. As long as you are in the range of your WiFi router. It should be good. However I found that range to be quite disappointing. It only barely reaches 1 floor higher before losing connection on the 3th floor. Using the Chuwi Vi8 PlusUsing the Chuwi Vi8 Plus starts out very nice. The default language is English and the setup asks if you want to change it at the very first time you boot up your device. Its very easy to setup and doesn't come with any bloatware at all. Just an link to an website. Connecting this device to your screen could turn this into an small desktop computer. Like the rival tablets. However with USB C and without an OTG cable. You are forced using Bluetooth to connect your mouse and keyboard to your tablet. I've found my keyboards not working properly and I'm not jet sure if this is the fault of windows 10 or the Chuwi hardware. Like you can see in the video above. my keyboard strokes had some delay and seem to "hang" sending the same character over and over again. The tablet however did NOT lag. It had no performance trouble looking at task manager. its purely the Bluetooth. The yellow tint on the screen is not something that would turn me down from buying this tablet because you wont notice until you hold it next to another tablet. The tablet does feel an bit warmer as the others holding in the hand, But nothing special or extreme. In my next review I might temperature test on all devices and check for sure. Be sure to read next time Overall using this tablet feels pretty solid because of the battery and easy setup. This is an device any user can handle unlike the iwork8 witch came in Chinese and had problems changing language. But the downsides of this device make me rate this an average 6.5/10 You can buy the tablet around $91 here: Chuwi Vi8 Plus.
  3. YES! and thats awsome. look at my video for usage. https://youtu.be/I4l-uNcTn0Q?t=74 Thanks alot ! linus is one of my insperation why I started doing this ! Maybe someday i get hired  Thanks, I think using an OTG cable you can actually boot it into linux. If the linux youre using had an tablet acceptable interface and its touch / wifi / bluetooth drivers. The chuwi vi8, Witch I would rate an 9/10. *(or some other chuwi models) Come with windows and android dual boot as well. You can even use tablets like these as small HTPC or servers. B)
  4. Hello. I am new at reviewing and trying to get to be as good as linus ! I hope you like my review ! Youtube review : https://youtu.be/I4l-uNcTn0Q Cube iwork8 Ultimate Tablet. Introduction. Normally when talking about an tablet one thinks of the classic android tablets with the classic app icons and functions. To use for entertainment or reading. However, this tablet is very much different. The reason it is, is because it has windows 10 as operating system. Making it more of an laptop then an traditional tablet. In this review I will talk and explain further about the Cube's iwork8 Ultimate. Price and specifications. For about 89 euro at the moment of writing this. This tablet is pretty cheap. Especially for the functionalities and things one can do with this tablet. The following are the specifications. CPU: Intel Atom x5-Z8300 RAM: 2GB ROM/STORAGE: 32GB SCREEN: 8.0 inch 1280 x 800 IPS OS: Windows 10 BATTERY: 3300mAh Dual cameras Bluetooth 4.0 HDMI + Headphone + Micro usb + TF Design and build quality. The first thing you notice after unpacking this device is its size. Its not that large but not really small either, it instantly reminded me of an e reader. you are able to hold it into one hand easily Its practical to use for reading or presentation I've been able to use it doing an presentation as well. Looking way better and more professional then using an paper note for sneak reminders. The build quality seems good. It feels medium weight and even with plastic feels strong and with grip. Intel on the back Notice the grip buds The second thing I noticed is that its an bit larger then my other 8 inch tablet. the Chuwi Vi8. The screen is the same. But the edges are larger. The screen of the tablet while being just 1280 x 800 is actually great. It doesn't feel like its an low resolution and the IPS panel has some really nice colors. It also comes with an screen protector already on it. The brightness of the screen is actually quite good too. Better as the chuwi vi8. For the alert people under us might have noticed the Cube iwork8 ultimate has no native windows button. Witch is an shame because it works great on its rival. Witch brings me on the next subject. Inputs and outputs. With the iwork8 ultimate missing the home button. It does have the other inputs and outputs. And unlike the chuwi vi8 witch has some problems with HDMI and TF card slot. They work fine on the iwork8 ultimate. Another thing you can consider an input are the camera's. They, like most if not all tablets on this price range. Aren't really worth using. Its 2.0 megapixels and looks like even less. The sound on this tablet is not something to enjoy. Trying to play Adele's Hello on 100% volume gives me an headache. And that's not because the song is THAT bad I also came to notice after playing an song or video on 100% and waiting an minute. The speaker goes into an sound bug making an tick'y noise until another sounds starts to play or the volume is lowered. I've recorded the sound and used audio software to boost it up and make it hear able. Soundcloud link Battery life. Tablets like this one have incredible battery life compared to laptops because of the Intel Atom processors. And an bit less incredible compared to some android tablets like the Samsung tab. However this particular model is average with about 4 hours of using time. It has an 3300mAh battery. While its rival. has an 5000 mAh battery and lasts about an hour and half longer in my experience. But you will be surprised how productive you can be on 5 hours of an tablet like this! Performance. The performance of the tablet actually disappointing. I expected the Atom x5-Z8300 CPU to be faster as the Chuwi's Atom Z3735F because the base clock is higher. Looking at the scores iwork8 Ultimate Single-core Score 761 Multi-core Score 2144 Chuwi Vi8 Single-core Score 782 Multi-core Score 2189 The ROM / storage speed is about the same. iwork8 ultimate on the left. Chuwi vi8 on the right. The iwork actually has more free space because unlike the chuwi its not an dual boot android windows tablet. This is an advantage or an disadvantage depending on who your asking. Now for the WiFi speed. iwork8 as 1C4C2MG. Chuwi as Vi8 The chuwi again is the winner. Definitely because the iwork8 has an nasty WiFi bug where it made my entire network really slow by flooding my router. This bug crashes my router. Notice the 1Mbit/s Using the iwork8 ultimate / Conclusion. Well.. where to start. This tablet is definitely for the power user and more advanced users. It took me myself about 8 hours of time to get it to English. The reason being this tablet has no pre-installed English and did NOT want to install it before it had run about 50 optional components that I could not understand because they where in Chinese. These where optional components like handwriting and spelling error checking. I think this is partly Microsoft fault. However the chuwi vi8 came with windows 8.1 installed in Chinese and it only took me. And my cousin witch is fairly new with windows tablet like these. 5 minutes to change. In the video above or on my Youtube channel you can see how to change it IF it works. When the tablet is configured in English its an matter of installing your preferred applications and browsers and you're ready to go. This is where the fun happens. I've used mine a lot more then I expected! Taking notes and looking something up without having to take out an entire laptop or booting an desktop PC is just great. Because of the price I consider it an practical tool more then an jewel like phones are these days. With the screen protector on it and it being plastic its easy to give to an kid without fearing it will be destroyed. The thing to add to this tablet that makes it alot better. would be an (mouse) and keyboard / case. This makes it faster to type and leaves more screen space to work on. My conclusion is to only recommend this tablet to advanced users before its being setup. Android tablets are easier to use. But this is way more productive. 6/10 You can buy the tablet for around 90 euros here : Tablet cube iwork8 More reviews? : My website
