  1. Hi everyone! I posted a topic earlier about my Das Keyboard mod. It was so successful and I like it so much that I decided to continue the theme! Here's a quick photo: Check out all the photos here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsk6edCoJ
  2. Thanks! A friend of mine linked a thread from this forum where a guy had also wrapped his keyboard with this same carbon fiber film. I immediately ordered mine Even though this took over two hours to apply the wrap, I think it was time well spent. I've only had it for a week now and I have probably saved that two hours because I haven't had to clean it even once.
  3. The leds aren't visible, just as I wanted them Blue doesn't match my build
  4. You could buy one of the other DI-NOC films. There's a ton of them! Thanks! I wanted to have a white one, but WASD Keyboards didn't have the right length available for my keyboard. Their shortest one is one quarter longer than needed. Great to see people like it
  5. Ah, can't please everyone!
  6. You might make that one look great too! I personally paid 45 € for my keyboard and these addons were over 100 €... hah! It's not a problem if you know your keyboard well enough =) I truly recommend this! Not a fingerprint magnet anymore and everyone adores it
  7. I truly recommend that! It was very easy to apply, too. All I needed was a very sharp blade and a hair dryer. Programming FTW! Yea, the film is good to cover the glossy fingerprint magnet!
  8. Hi all! A few weeks ago I ordered a piece of 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber film and keycaps from WASD Keyboards. The keycaps got finally from the customs, so I was able to put it all together! What do you think? I will definitely recommend this project! Here's a picture of the finished keyboard. Check the full album here, working process and the final result: https://flic.kr/s/aHsk5vv6tz
  9. RAID cards are expensive. If you have a low budget, you could buy a HBA card and use software RAID. This kind of card increases your SATA port count, if you need more.
  10. 1 byte is 8 bits. 1000 Gbps = 125 MBps.
  11. I'm planning to put my 128 GB SSD drives in RAID 1 into my server. Then I'd get myself a 512 GB version. They aren't that expensive anymore. This new one costs about the same as my 128 GB did back in the day.
  12. Ubuntu is quite easy to use. I personally set up a virtual machine first and messed up in a virtual network. Even though I liked Ubuntu, I'm still going to reinstall Windows Server 2012 R2 on my server when it's time to upgrade.
  13. Don't get two 4i cards. I was just saying that if you want more expansion space, get 4i and a SAS expander. That way you can connect 20 drives without losing any performance, in theory. You could get an expander for the 8i too in the future, if you are not satisfied with the eight ports. The Intel RES2SV240 has 24 ports (six SFF-8087, but you can connect four SATA drives in each of them), but four of these are used as an uplink to the controller if used with 4i, eight with 8i. Prices are very high in Finland too. I am ordering from Germany, I'll save about 1000 € with my next order.
  14. The LSI 9271-8i is a great card. I don't have it yet but it's already in the shopping cart to be ordered. If you are connecting eight drives, you don't have any room for expansion. For regular HDDs you could get the 4i variant and Intel RES2SV240 expander. This way you can connect up to 20 drives without losing any performance. This performance thing is in theory of course. But in case of 20 drives it's your network that holds back the process. BTW those are ridiculously expensive there.
  15. Hope to be posting my new server system soon. I'll be adding LSI 9271-4i, Intel RES2SV240 and eight 3 TB WD Red drives.
