  1. Anybody recommend a RELATIVELY CHEAP, quiet and comfortable (if possible) keyboard? Thanks!
  2. Hello, I'm thinking of building a new PC based off an Intel Core i3, but I'm not sure whether I should spend a bit more and go for Skylake, or whether I should stick with Haswell. I will be planning to use this PC for a very long time; does going with a newer generation processor benefit in the PC's lifespan? All your replies would be appreciated!
  3. Simple office work (i.e. Microsoft Word), watching movies etc.
  4. Ahah okay Thanks for the reply
  5. Is it worth getting the Hyper 212X or should I just go with the Intel Stock Cooler (for a non-overclockable CPU in an HTPC). I fear that the Stock Cooler will be very loud, and I know for a fact it is. Do any of you know a cooler that is small, cheap yet reasonably quiet?
  6. This is targetted for an HTPC, and in fact little if not no gaming will be done here. Even if games are run, they will be "doable" with Intel HD Graphics. I just want a Slim form factor case where I could possibly throw in an ITX graphics card down the line. (i.e. 750Ti as a rough example.)
  7. Right, thanks for the advice. Not to be picky or anything, but do you have any recommendations for a Slim Form Factor case? (as thats what I'm trying to aim for ) Regardeless, thanks for the help!
  8. Anyone know a "not-to-expensive" M-ATX Slim Form Factor case?
  9. Hello, I'm planning to build a HTPC for around the price of 400~450 USD. I want this HTPC to last for 5~10 years, and so I've listed a set of requirements (not all are mandatory/must-be-met). I figured that I didn't know what to choose in terms of specs for HTPCs, so I decided to ask for your help (and by "your", I'm referring to any LTT forum member ) Some requirements I have are: - Good Power Supply (for I want it to last long; good as in.. at least 80+ certified. Possibly something like a Corsair VS series power supply) - 8GB of RAM. I know it seems weird, and for many people 4GB will be enough, but the "user" (for I'm not using it) will be expecting it to use it for around 5~10 years. - Room for RAM, CPU and Graphics Card upgrade down the line. I don't mind if it is not the latest Skylake lineup, Haswell will work fine. - Decent CPU. I'm requesting for at least a Core i3 CPU if possible (with the option to upgrade later to Core i5 or a Core i7). - Storage aspect, I'm looking at a WD Blue 1TB. I've had bad experiences with Seagate and Toshiba, so I'm trying to avoid them. Any other recommendations are weclome though. - Case. This is where I struggled a lot, and need your help. Can anyone help me find a SLIM M-ATX, or ITX is fine though I find it hard to build in it (for a reasonable price that can fit within the budget). Also can the case be made by a very famous manufacturer (as the hardware store nearby only sells cases produced by very well known manufacturers like Corsair, Silverstone and Thermaltake.). Please give me a couple of options I can choose from? Thanks for all replies, your help is very much appreciated
  10. Well.. my computer "died".. and I built it.. yesterday. The reason seemingly is because I forced the computer on and off A LOT of times (long story on why I did that) and.. the motherboard seemingly died (Motherboard is the Gigabyte Z170-D3H if you guys need the model). I tried unplugging power cables from the Define R4 case and tried to boot the motherboard to see if the motherboard is dead or not.. and the computer did not post, so the motherboard, I'm guessing, is dead. One thing I'm curious about, however, is whether the Power Supply is dead or not. As of now I have no way of telling whether the power supply works or not, and I have until tomorrow to get a free replacement for the power supply (if you're curious on what it is, it is the XFX XTR750). Could it be possible that the power supply died and killed the motherboard? Or could it be that the Power Supply is still usable? I haven't really seen a case where after this situation, the motherboard dies by itself. I did cable management and everything and so I hope that the Power Supply isn't dead but... could you guys possibly tell me the answer to this on-going headache I am having? Thanks and Answers are very much appreciated.
  11. Um sorry but I don't think so.. I mean if you say that is true and the PSU has died, it could have killed the motherboard with it, which could be why the motherboard doesn't post?
  12. So.. this means the motherboard is dead, right? :\
  13. I tried using scissors to turn on the computer (through the motherboard) and.. it didn't post. Does this mean it is the motherboard that died?
