  1. I see. Well, I'm also pretty much at the limit of how much I can spend on this Folding Month. I'll keep this up until the end, but then, sadly, I'll have to drop to "normal" levels of PPD, with just my own single 2080 TI.
  2. Well, I didn't need to make that comment. I just made it because it's true.
  3. @Den-Fi You know, the nice thing about this is: No matter who ends up with the highest number at the end, we're all winners since it's all FOR SCIENCE! :D
  4. They actually used to have an Android app. It was developed by Sony. However, they had to shut it down unfortunately. https://foldingathome.org/2018/02/02/android-client-overhaul/
  5. Yes, they do actually (I know it's a phone, but phones also have a screen, mkay?)
  6. I just woke up and like 70 or 80% of my GPUs weren't folding ?
  7. No, actually I'm renting eight 2080 TIs and two 1070s at the moment. ?
  8. Well, I guess lucky for him, I'm not gonna keep this level of folding up after the event. This is because most of my folding power is from rented rigs.
  9. Now finally the first morning in what feels like an eternity where I didn't wake up just to see some of my GPUs sitting idle. Thank you, F@H. And seeing that noone here has mentioned it for a while now, I assume the download bug is resolved for you guys too?
  10. I was wondering about that some time ago: How much are you guys paying for electricity in your countries? Here in germany it's around 0.25 EUR per kWh, that's roughly 0.27 USD.
  11. Okay, but ASICs take that approch to the next level. Instead of few instructions, high speed (GPUs), they are usually one (or few) instructions, ultimate speed. Fine, I think both sides have a fair point in this discussion. But most people (even ones from this tech forum presumably) don't immediately think of GPUs when they hear the word ASIC.
  12. But then, couldn't you also argue that a CPU is a form os ASIC as well? That kinda defeats the purpose of the specific distinction between ASICs and 'tradional' computing hardware (CPUs/GPUs).
  13. I bet he built an ASIC for folding, but wouldn't tell anyone, so he can rake in all those juicy points for himself ? (jk, I know ASIC's wouldn't really work for folding)
  14. A lot of people seem to have this issue. Me too. Two of my 2080TIs stopped folding over the night.
  15. You could try this. Works for me on Ubuntu 16.04. apt update apt full-upgrade -y apt install nano wget bzip2 telnet -y wget https://download.foldingathome.org/releases/public/release/fahclient/debian-stable-64bit/v7.5/fahclient_7.5.1_amd64.deb dpkg -i --force-depends fahclient_7.5.1_amd64.deb After installation, you can set up your config.xml (should be in /etc/fahclient) and then run the client with 'FAHClient'. EDIT: I would recommend running the client in screen or tmux, though. So it doesn't exit when you close the SSH session.
  16. I'm also having that issue apparently. Happened today while I was away. Downloads are generally pretty slow ATM for me, and sometimes they just slow to a crawl, or even stop and fail completely, causing the FAHClient to either try downloading a new WU or just completely hang up on that particular slot, until I restart the whole client.
  17. Well, if it's any comfort to you, there are still lots of inactive people ahead of us, so it's not gonna make a big difference anyways.
  18. @shaz2sxy Congrats to us, by the way, we've both just made it into the global top 10k
