Most of what I would've said has already been mentioned. A few extra points: I like that Apple put a lot of care into the apps that come with the OS. Mail.app is my favourite mail client, even though there are many alternatives. On average, apps feel higher quality. I think this might be because the barrier to entry is higher. It's also possible that developers for macOS are targeting an audience that has higher expectations.
