  1. Just checked the charger and indeed it has the Center Positive symbol. So now, could you please explain how exactly do I test it with the multimeter? Just to see if I understand correctly, if the right pin (on the pic) is the one that connects to the center, then that would be where I solder the red cable, and the black cable on the left? Thanks a lot for the help guys, appreciate it
  2. Hello guys, don't really know if this is the right place to ask for this, but anyway.. I have this plug which is the connector to charge an electric scooter battery And I need to solder it to the cables that come from the battery (Red and Black) But I don't know which side of the little connector is positive and which is negative, so where do I solder each cable?
  3. Alright then, perfect. Thanks guys!
  4. I'm thinking on buying an ASUS STRIX RX 480 8GB graphic's card, but I read that the 480 consumes a bit more power than say a 1060, so I was wondering if it would work well with a SeaSonic S12ii 520w power supply. The rest of the system: ASUS H81M-A i5 4590 3.3GHz Hyper 212 EVO 8GB DDR3 HyperX Fury RAM 1tb WD Blue HDD thanks in advance
  5. Huh, maybe I'm out of the loop then. Why does it have a speaker connector then? And how do you diagnose POST problems without a speaker?
  6. So I don't plug anything into the +5V?
  7. My ASUS H81M-A motherboard didn't come with the little internal speaker that makes beeps for POST and such. I have an old pc collecting dust which does have this speaker. This may sound like a stupid question but can I just take that speaker out and plug it in on my PC? The old motherboard has 3 pins and the new one has 4, but the speaker only has 2 cables, 1 (+) and 1 (-) In my MB manual it says one is +5V, 2 are Ground and the other is Speaker out. So where do I plug in the (+) cable and the (-) ? This is the speaker I've got: thanks
  8. Alright so both my hard drive and PSU died the other day. I've ordered new ones, but the HD has arrived earlier than the PSU. I have an old 400W Generic PSU with 12A on the 12V rail. I was wondering if it's ok to use my PC with it until the new one arives, without my graphics card connected of course. Just CPU, Motherboard, RAM, hard drive and pheripherals. MB: Asus H81M-A CPU: Intel i5 4590 RAM: 2x4gb HyperX Fury 1866MHz HDD: WD Blue 500GB 7200RPM Thanks
  9. I can also get the NZXT Hale82 V2 550W, which is the same price as the XFX but it is modular. What do you guys think about this one?
  10. Which one of these is better?: XFX TS-550W 80 Plus Bronze http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Wired-Bronze-Power-Supply/dp/B004RJ8EKI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449111118&sr=8-1 SeaSonic S12ii 520W 80 Plus Bronze http://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-S12II-520-BRONZE-SS-520GB%C2%A0/dp/B00390P1NO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449111209&sr=8-1 The SeaSonic is cheaper.
  11. I'm getting 11.80 on my 12V rail, 3.360 on my 3.3 and 5.160 on my 5V. (Checking on BIOS) I want to know if these values are within normal range. Thanks
  12. Mine was 500W, his is 600W. Could that message mean the motherboard is failing because of what happened? Or does it only mean a problem with the PSU and not other component?
  13. Thanks for your answers. I went to a friend's house and tried my PC with his PSU. Everything is detected fine on BIOS but the PC (tried it without an HD) rebooted a couple of times with the error "Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. Asus anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit". I tried a couple of times and it ran fine for 15min without restarting. Couldn't actually boot into Windows though because I didn't have a HD.
  14. Could any of my parts (motherboard, cpu, gpu, ram) have been killed? That's what i'm most afraid of. Is there any way I can test my PSU without having anything connected to it?
  15. I was trying to install an IDE hard drive with an IDE to SATA adapter, I connected everything but when I went to plug the molex cable to the hard drive, as soon as it touched the pins smoke came out. I quickly disconnected everything but now my PSU smells like burnt. Could my hard drive have burnt my PSU? or my other components? i'm really scared right now. I don't wanna plug or try anything
