  1. Surprisingly enough, I got an email this morning from Andrew stating that the packages were lost in transition and they didn't know -.- They're basically going to replace it, shipping me a new case and returning what's left. I mean, i'm not going to swap my parts over, i'm just going to take my parts out of the new one, throw the old ones in a bag taped to the inside, and ship it back. We'll see if it actually arrives.
  2. Ya, I agree that it shouldn't matter. And I am pretty sure they are wasting time so that I don't get to replace it with warranty. It was already past the point where I could even think about dealing with newegg about it. 30 days unopened doesn't apply, so they'd probably just shuffle me off to Rosewill anyway. I really want Rosewill to do well. I have dealt with Rosewill products before, and never had any issue dealing with support. It just happens this is the first time it has happened on my account / dime. So disappointing.
  3. I am sitting here at a string of emails going back to August 15th, 2019 (all one sided past the initial response form submission from the website). I bought a RSV-R4000 Case for my new right, I had a forum thread here from when I was buying it: ( https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1039401-10-year-old-pc-to-new-build/ ) So it took around 4-5 months for one of the front fans to die, and I had this weird 'intermittent' problem with the front usb ports when I plug in my external drive to copy things between work and home. So I knew that was bad when I installed the system after the first day. But I wanted to see what else would go wrong before RMA'ing the whole case. I sent in the support request for replacement IO panel and front case fan, and that's where it all started. August 15th, 2019 So I said: August 15th, 2019 September 4th, 2019 September 15th, 2019 The next step was I called into their tech support number around the end of September, and talked to someone saying that Andrew wouldn't be in until (some day) whatever, and they'll leave a note for them to contact me. They asked me for my phone number and everything... A couple weeks go by. I got the RMA email contact, and forwarded the entire thread to them in hopes of getting somebody 'new'. October 4th, 2019 I am wondering if anyone has any ideas what to do now. I sent them another email to the RMA contact stating basically that, I would call one more time on Monday to get a resolution to my issue. If I didn't, then I would grab my passport and drive down to California with the case, drop it off at the front desk. Always wanted to go to California anyway.
  4. Interesting, most of those games I have never heard of before. I will check them out for sure Thank you
  5. i will keep those in mind. I heard about Metro a little bit, but I knew my machine wouldn't stand a chance since it was used as a benchmark for a year so LOL. Same with the Tomb Raider games. but yes, I will definitely look into those as well. Thank you
  6. well Maybe i'll give it a shot on PC then. I will probably install CS:GO just to see, but ... For me it's a massive shame that I cannot play Wildstar with my new rig. Just a few months too late I guess I really liked Wildstar, but it was really hard to play with 20 fps in pvp.
  7. Well, taxing yes simply because a 10 year old computer is really limited to what it can handle. I am just saying, a game that would not have been possible to see in any resemblance of glory, due to hardware restrictions, is what I'm looking for. Like, if I can get over 20fps in a game i'm happy right now. From the reviews, I am going to be looking at at least 50-60fps in most games so ... I can't wait. Seriously. I can't remember the last time I saw a 3D game run in > 30fps.
  8. Actually I have contemplated getting Skyrim. I'm sorry but I pirated a copy when I wasn't sure that I could run it according to other youtubers and such. I think I had around 30-40 minutes in-game and my machine would overheat or whatever. So HAHA
  9. I hate Halo's gameplay actually. It's the one game I really wanted to like, but any FPS game where you 'float on the moon when you jump' just down right turns me off. I can't take it. I think it's the years of Quake II and Unreal Tournament that did it. Oh and yes, Cities Skylines. I have that, I will definitely be loading that puppy up!
  10. Ya I am more interested in games that are going to say, "Man, how did I ever get away with having a 10 year old machine before." type of games. Like Witcher 3, I have heard really good things about it, but I know for a fact that my computer cannot handle it. It can barely run Skyrim at 15fps so.
  11. Well, normally my games vary. I mean, I used to play FPS games but not so much anymore. CS:GO kinda went away from my eye a number of years ago. The Online aspect isn't that bad. my Pings aren't bad, my download speed sucks. So big patches and such are just a nuisance. So that's why I want to try to pre-load some games onto a drive before I swap machines, so I don't have to wait to download on the new machine. I am going to have to install Visual Studio again and Android Studio when I get the machine, so it's going to take some time there itself. But the games are the big one. Anything I do not have already, I will have to re-download.
  12. LOL When Wildstar Alpha came out, I had to download the 10GB of it on my internet. Then I was poor and lost my internet so I used my phone for internet for a week. During that week, Wildstar did an update and forced a re-download of the entire Alpha client. This was while I slept. Canadian Phone Providers charge $0.05/MB so I had a $500 phone bill that month, but still not internet. I continued and it went up to about $2,000 by the end of the month. Was a good time. really... I regret nothing.
  13. Ok so I am building my new rig, the cooler will be here on Monday: I have ungodly slow internet in Rural Saskatchewan, so I need to pre-load games I want to play to see how this new rig will handle it. The Video card is an RX 470 8GB edition because it is not in that forum thread. Anyway, Currently I have stopped playing World of Warcraft because of things. I don't feel that I would enjoy playing the game as well as testing the rig out. So I am looking for game suggestions, free or otherwise, to see how it handles 1080p gaming. I do not run 4k as I don't see any point in it other than pushing something to its limits. I don't feel I would benefit from it at this point in my life. Anyway. I was contemplating loading up some of my old favorites. Star Wars: The Old Republic World of Warships Cannot play Wildstar so ... that one is out. Rift perhaps Getting GTA V cause it's on sale for $15 right now. I develop an application for Shroud of the Avatar, and Unity Engine seems to test certain builds so I will be testing it out regardless. But yes, my download speed is 680kb/s on a good day here, so I really want to try to prioritize the games I download to see how it goes. So if any of these games or maybe others you may suggest could help me see what the difference actually is between my old and new rig... that would be awesome. Right now, my biggest bane, is not being able to turn shadows on in most games, and the MXAA or FXAA are just off. Most of the time the draw distance is really low, or in general the game settings are on low constantly. So I am sure anything is going to be amaze-balls to be sure. I'll be burning in my machine probably Tuesday to Thursday next week to make sure everything is running smoothly, but until then feel free to leave a comment or suggestion below. Any questions about the rig that you may need for contemplating a priority, just leave them below as well. Thank you in advance.
  14. Just wanted to post an update. I got my case, motherboard, ram and CPU all today ... 5 day's shipping to rural Saskatchewan. Color me impressed. I chose not to go with the really deep version case. As I didn't think I needed it. *hindsight* If I had the deeper case it would have had the middle-rack with pre-installed 3 x 120mm fans. They could be replaced with a radiator. However, this case does not include said rack, so without maybe a mod in the future it looks like I am not going to be able to go for an AIO Watercool system. Currently looking at a CRYORIG - M9a (link: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/Gqp323/cryorig-cpu-cooler-m9a ) or perhaps a CRYORIG - H7 (link: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/93Crxr/cryorig-cpu-cooler-h7 ) The distance from the case by calculations is < 155mm so that research online was correct. So I cannot put a Hyper 212 in it since that cooler is 164mm tall I see good reviews on the H7 but both come with Thermal Paste. The M9a is 48.4 CFM and the H7 is 49 CFM so ... at this point it really comes down to what fan they have, the noise and price I guess. The H7 is Quieter and has more throughput so the fan must be a little different on that vs. the M9a. The price is only $20 difference, so I am contemplating getting the H7 tomorrow (Wednesday).
  15. That's good news... I even called them to inquire about it, asking why they were so much cheaper but never got back so I was a little iffy. However, now I am feeling a lot better about this. Thank you. I too normally buy from specific sellers, like newegg and memoryexpress on occaision when the prices are good, but this one popped on on pcpartpicker one week, and then was removed. It's a little odd. anyway. That's great advice. I am going to see what happens when I get the parts. I even went to the depths of replacing one of the 5 1/4 bays with a fan controller, so I could add a bunch of fans into the case, to control their speeds/noise to the point where my everyday use and gaming would have the lowest possible noise, but keeping it cool even if I did do a little overclocking. At this point, I will probably just keep everything stock. The performance I am going to gain over my existing PC is going to just blow it away anyway. So in the future I guess I could do that ... Thank you so much
