Do you fold the display lid or leave it open? Ive had problems with laptops when shutting down and closing th lid they would never actually turn off, so when shutting down a laptop it is important to not close the display.

Tried with both the lid open and closed, same results. Also tried it plugged in and out, still, the problem is there.

First this is spam  - you made the same thread yesterday.

Second why are you using this laptop plugged all the time? For how long you have been doing that ? Don't you think that with this abuse, more or less, you overheated/melted/destroyed components?  I understand if you have faulty battery but at least use it with no battery at all - it will be better since, if you have noticed, when charged batteries heat up, sometimes a lot.

As for why is it glowing as charging - easy af!

You say its still spinning the fan after shut down? - what does that mean? Answer it uses power from the battery! Which means? - Answer the battery is not gonna be at 100% and start charging when you plug it back again!

Also from the ModulesLFS post is clear that you haven't taken the time to even google your problem before posting here, twice...

You completely failed to see my point and just made random assumptions.

First, my laptop is freakin power hungry. Look it the TDP of my processor. This thing lasts an an hour or so outside of the charger.

Second, I play CS:GO on this thing. What kind of a doofus plays on a laptop on battery power?

Your "easy af" statement killed me. This issue did not exist before. Before, when I shut my system down, everything turns off, the fans, the HDD, etc. And whenever I would turn my system on, it wouldn't show as charging as no power was being wasted. Now, it the fans spin and blow out hot air until the laptop's battery goes to 0%, meaning that the thing is STILL RUNNING EVEN AFTER I SHUT IT DOWN. When I boot this thing up, the battery charges from 0%, meaning that the battery has been drained from the system RUNNING even though I already shut it down.

Fourth, no one in my previous thread provided concrete answers. That is why I deleted it and started a new one. And btw, do you even know what spam is?

  3. Hi there!

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 7447. A few weeks ago, I noticed something strange. Whenever I would turn on my laptop, the battery indicator would show as charging, which is really weird since I never use my laptop unplugged from the outlet. I just unplug it every night for safety concerns (but the laptop is turned off).

I did some observations and found that after shutting it down, the exhaust vent would still blow out hot air, meaning that it wasn't COMPLETELY turned off.

I already tried disabling fast startup via Power Options in the Control Panel but the problem still persists. For now, there is a workaround - I have to hold down the power button for five seconds after the screen goes blank. However, being the OCD guy that I am (I freak out when something isn't normal with my gadgets), it continues to bug me. This has only started happening recently.

Please help and thank you in advance!

  4. My friend asked me to fix his ASUS laptop. He said it wasn't booting up. Sure enough, it boots straight into Automatic Repair, and after that, it goes into this error screen.

I went into the ASUS website to learn how to boot the thing up into the BIOS/UEFI in order to set it to boot from the flash drive that has Windows 8.1 installation media. It stated to shut it down, hold the F2 key, and press the power button. Alas, nothing happened: it still boots up into Automatic Repair.

Could you guys help me out?

  5. I have this impulse to clear cache many times in a day (through the Settings app and SD Maid Pro). I also clear the cache partition (done via recovery) every few days. I was wondering, is there any negative effect by doing so this frequently? If so, how often should I perform it instead?

  6. I occasionally deal with my classmates' thumb drives because of, you know, school work. More often that not, these things have malware on them, and I'm tired of running an MBAM scan every time I plug one into my laptop. Windows Defender doesn't seem to scan flash drives when I insert them, and I'm not really keen on the idea of purchasing an AV that does this since I'm broke. Do you guys have any suggestions on what program would work best for me?

  7. I have a 16 GB SanDisk flash drive (dual OTG, USB-A and C). It's been fine for the first few weeks that I had it, but recently, I noticed something strange. When I plug it in, Windows would inform me that something is wrong with the drive, and that I should run a scan. After doing so, strangely enough, it tells me that nothing is wrong.

I tried cleaning and formatting the drive using Diskpart (FAT32), and still, the problem remains. Sometimes when I try to copy a file, and right click on the an empty space on the drive and click on "Paste", it would just disconnect and I would have to reconnect it.

And by the time a file transfer is on the way, say a 4 GB movie, after 10% is complete, the 30-40 MB/s transfer speed crawls to 10%.

I tried using h2testw to verify any bad sectors and it reports that everything is fine.

I also tried using USB Flash Benchmark and the speeds seem alright.

What the hell is wrong with this thing?

  8. As a student, my flash drives occasionally get plugged in and out of my classmates' laptops and print shop PCs, which may or may not contain malware. I find it very frustrating to not be able to do something about it, so I did some research and I've read that I should to download an "immunizer" application that disables some autorun scripts on the flash drive itself in order to prevent the malware from executing its functions. Just wondering, is this legit?

Here's sample links of the programs I'm referring:

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Security-Related/Panda-USB-Vaccine.shtml

Also, what free program can scan flash drives upon plugging them and remove malware in the process?

Usually, folks recommend Prime95 because it’s free and it’s a good indicator of system stability.

AIDA64 also has a very demanding stress test utility (especially the FPU test)

Yup, I used AIDA64 with CPU, FPU, cache, and RAM checked when I undervolted the CORE ONLY to -0.90mV. It passed an eight-hour run, but would crash a few hours into CS:GO.

Reduced the undervolt to -0.85mV (both core and cache this time) and ran AIDA64 again (same boxes ticked) for eight hours and it passed. Haven't tried to play CS:GO yet. I might disconnect from a competitive match again lol.

Is there any other stress tester that will help catch errors that AIDA64 cannot?
