depends what gpu you have but usually on a laptop the cpu will outrun the gpu
My GPU is a GTX 850M and the processor's an i5-4210H. AFAIK the GPU is the more powerful one between the two (in my case)

I do some light video editing on my laptop (specs are in the signature) for some school projects and I was wondering which renderer will give me better performance. Thanks!

Try to turn off fast startup if that's an option.

It's one of the first troubleshooting methods that I employed. Sadly, and obviously, it didn't work. I even disabled hibernation outright but to no avail.

I think this has been quite a well-known issue here already, as it seems to affect laptops from other manufacturers as well. Basically, my laptop doesn't shut down completely. After shutting down the normal way via Windows, most of the time, I would notice that the fans would still be running and would continually exhaust heat from the processor, which seems to be under load, all until the battery dies. The temporary fix would be told down the power button for a few seconds until the fans turn off, but that isn't the way this thing was originally meant to work.
The most common solution for many other users was to downgrade the Intel Management Engine Interface driver to version 9. Doing that did not remedy my issue. I also tried downgrading my Intel Chipset drivers, also going as far as to downgrade my BIOS two versions only to be disappointed with the results.
As of now, I'm flashing back the latest BIOS as it fixes the Spectre vulnerability, but it seems like I'm out of options. This problem didn't exist in the first year that I owned the laptop. It just popped out of nowhere and is incredibly infuriating.
Please, to anyone who may know of possible solutions, I need help. Thank you in advance.

Basically what Ninite Pro does for free.

I already tried using 7Zip to compress it with the compression level set to "Ultra", however, the file size is still the same. Wtf

I have a folder that's about 13.3 GB large that I want to burn to multiple DVDs. Unfortunately, CDBurnerXP won't let me do that, as one file inside of the folder is larger than a whole disc. Is there any software that would allow me to accomplish what I want?

if youre using a dell you can also set a custom charge rate for your battery in the bios (i can do with with my latitude E6430) - ex only setting it so the laptop charges the battery from 20% to 50% when needed
There's no option for that in my BIOS

Overall, which is the better file system?

Nah, CPU suck, can't even beat a i3 7100U ULV. MX150 is slightly slower than RX550, however RX GPUs don't fit well in laptops due to worse efficiency compared to Pascal, as a result power consumption and heat output are higher.
Oh damn. This one's a waste as well: https://www.octagon.com.ph/index.php?_route_=ASUS-FX550IU-DM064T-AMD-FX-9830P RX 460
I presume that an i5-8520U and MX150 would give the same fps as an i5-7300HQ and GTX 1050 when everything is set to low, as the CPU's are more or less identical in terms of performance?

Would this be better than a laptop with an i5-8250U and an MX150?

Unfortunately I have no time to test yet. You can try search for benchmarks in YouTube (sorry but I can't help you because I have limited data). For reference, my Y520 can run at ~180FPS at 1080p low in Mirage (not the most demanding map) with no players.
Keep in mind that there are 2 variants of MX150, 8W and 25W TDP. See notebookcheck for more info. Also, if you need recommendations, feel free to ask for it.
OP never mentioned that he needs 120Hz panel.
Thanks a lot, man! Appreciate it

Even mine struggled to keep 150+FPS (check my settings in my profile) in a match with 4-5 bots. Prioritize CPU first since Source games are CPU bounded, I would say at least 7700HQ+1050. Try to search for results on 8250U/8550U+MX150 too.
How many frames does your bro's laptop get?
-
I'll be upgrading my laptop because I owned it for a few years now and I could use a faster one. It stutters a lot in CS, despite getting high peak frame rates.
What specs should I look out for if I want to run CS:GO at 200+ fps on all low settings, 1080p, on all maps? Of course, the cheaper the better.

For both app cache (in settings) and system cache (in recovery)?

The YouTube app updated today for Android, but I still couldn't find the toggle in the settings.

Well TBH you should stop letting your classmates insert flash drives unless you want to infect your laptop again, or worse fall victim to ransomware. Yes you should have a good AV etc, but it's not going to help if you let everyone insert flash drives.. hope that makes sense.
I don't have a choice, as much as I hate the idea
-
I frequently handle my classmates' flash drives and plug them into my laptop because of school and I was worried that Bitdefender Free might not have the feature to automatically scan flash drives upon insertion. I have been a victim of the shortcut virus many times already when my antivirus was still Windows Defender. Is this the case for Bitdefender Free?

Do you have valuable data or anything that you absolutely can't afford to lose? Defender is just kind of OK, it's really hard to tell it to do anything like ignore a file or scan a specific area, because microsoft tried to make it fuckwit-proof. It's not bad, but I would certainly go for something with better performance (infection-prevention-wise) if I had valuable data either sentimental or worth actual money.
Not really, though I am kind of OCD when it comes to things like this and I absolutely hate the idea of my laptop getting infected.
What do you think of Bitdefender Free?
-
If so, what AV would you recommend?

@ModuleLFS, I just tried the fixes in the link that you sent me. So far, it's been working. I will be reporting in a few days time if the problem returns. Who would have thought that it had something to do with the graphics drivers? LOL
Thanks a lot, man!
