  1. I need both GPU and CPU power for different tasks across my workflow. I'm a 3D Generalist. Although almost all of my rendering is GPU based. I do all sort of simulations and tasks that are solely CPU based. I upgraded my GPUs about a year ago to my current dual 3070tis and I'm currently looking into getting the best CPU I could get. so either 13900k or 7950x and hopefully maybe get a 4090 in a few months when I can find one for msrb.
  2. I see your point for sure. The system is my main source of income. I'm still on the edge to which one to go with. Seems like for the AMD side, I'll have to go for a 700$ dollar motherboard just to get a dual 8x which makes the system a little bit more expensive. Not sure if it's worth it.
  3. 6 years of these 7-8ish years was me being in college but nowadays I'm working fulltime and this is my main workstation so my goal is to keep it very fresh from now on and upgrade everything every generation or 2 max as it's pretty much main source of income. So I'm currently looking into upgrading everything but the GPUs and in 6 months or so, get myself a 4090 when they're in stock more with less scalped prices. That's why I'm gearing more towards the Ryzen. If I can get a 30% or more boost at some point while keeping the same motherboard, I'll definitely get myself the new CPU.
  4. Spacing for the Z690 Creator wouldn't work for me unfortunately. So I'm currently torn between this build with the Z690 motherboard or going for 7950X with X670E Taichi or ROG Crosshair X670E Hero Both builds will be the exact same price but I'm getting the -at least- merit of investing into a new socket for AMD which could get support for 1 or 2 more generations. Looking back at the AM4 socket. Most motherboard even the extremely old support 3000,4000 and 5000 series. That's 3 generations with the same motherboard. That's pretty good. What do you think?
  5. oh I didn't know memory kits now have specific comptability for boards. Thanks a lot of taking the time to look into this. So you think going the AMD route just for being able to swap CPUs with the same motheboard isn't worth it ? Thought it would be very helpful If I could get a 25%-ish boost or something with only swapping a cpu in a year or so especially since motherboards are crazy expensive nowadays too. So I gave the intel side a look. Does something like look right ? I'm going for motherboard especially because of the x8x8 support as well as the distance between the slots being 4x which I noticed wasn't the case for the one I choose for AMD anyway which is a big problem for me as I have 2 GPUs and I should be able to update the BIOS with a USB to get 13 gen support right ? I've checked RAM comptability and it looks like it supports that exact motherboard.
  6. considering that raptor lake is pretty much a dead platform, I don't want to invest money into it. I'd rather go the AMD route and be able to swap CPUs for the next generation or two at least. Maybe it's not the cheapest option right now but It should be better in the long run I think. I'm just mostly interested in knowing if all these choice are the best for the 7950x build. Are they all compatible or not. And i'm not much of an overclocker too for RAM. I'm fairly newbie in that whole thing.
  7. Any insight would be extremely appreciated here. Thanks!
  8. Hi all! I'm sorta new to PC building. To cut it short, I'm looking into upgrading to a 7950X from my ancient i7-5820K. Currently I'm keeping my PSU (Antec Extreme 1000W Gold) and the case (Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic) I'm currently looking at the following : Ryzen 9 7950X : 700 USD G Skill RipJaws S5 Series 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000 CL32-38-38-96 : 390 USD Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 : 130 USD Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX : 320 USD Are these all compatible ? I have zero clue on what RAM and motherboard. For the RAM, I saw a video by "Actually Hardcore Overclocking" and he seems to suggest this one. Is there better options ? Or cheaper options for the same performance ? Same for motherboard, have no clue really. A necessity for me atm is I need 2 PCI slots as I'm running atm two 3070TIs and I don't wanna lose one of them. would this motherboard work with both of them ? Also 4 RAM slots are nice just in case I decided to upgrade to 128GBs eventually. Is the cooler also a good choice ? Do I have to buy any fans ? Or does it come with its own decent fans ? I'm gonna wait till Black Friday just in case any good deals come out. So would appreciate giving me alternatives too just any case any of these go out of stock Budget (including currency): 1500$ Country: Shipping internationally from the USA so I'm only limited to Amazon US. No newsegg, microcenter or anything else. Just Amazon US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I'm more focused in 3D rendering rather than a gaming pc. This is a workstation first, gaming second. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):
  9. Nope. Haven't OCed yet. My mobo has been iffy lately so I don't wanna do something that messes thing up. It's my main PC for work and if it goes down, im screwed. XEONs aren't widely available here. I'm not based in the US. I'm only buying off Amazon US as they let you know very clearly what you'll paying for the taxes and shipping and they're surprisingly cheaper that buying locally here.
  10. My main usage is GPU Rendering. CPU is used for simulations which is multi-threaded and overall viewport performance which some of it is still single threaded. Is Intel still better in single threaded performance ?
  11. Really appreciate your help here m8. I think I might just wait and either get the 5950x stuff at discount price or get the new ones if it's worth it. Hopefully the availability wouldn't be terrible and I can grab what you need after they're announced. Appreciate the help again. Have a good day!
  12. Looking at how much it's gonna cost me. I'm looking at about 1500$ which is quite a lot considering i'm buying a socket that's going obsolete in a few months but at the same time I think it would be at least 2000-2500 to get something similar on AM5 due to being DDR5, right ? It's quite a hard decision for me. Not sure If I should wait or not.
  13. Hi all! I'm currently running a 5820k and it's really bugging my whole system down. I recently upgraded my case, gpus and PSU so I'm currently looking into upgrading which is the ram, cpu, probably the cooler and the mobo. I'm in a dilemma atm not knowing if i should get whatever Intel is offering right now or wait for the new socket and cpus from amd. I can get a 12900k for about 620 usd. If I'd be going with the 12900k what mobo should I be getting. I want something that would fit the two GPUs. not sure about ddr5 or ddr4.. as ddr5 is almost double the price of ddr4 and I need at least 48gbs, preferably 64 My main usage isn't gaming. I do 3D rendering and animation. Here's my current specs Motherboard : MSI X99A Gaming 7 CPU : i7-5820K Ram : GSkil DDR4 48GB 2666 PSU : Antec HCG 1000watt GPU : 2X 3070 TI (PALIT GAMINGPRO & EVGA FTW3) Cooler : Cooler Master Nepton 280L
  14. sorry m8 got carried away with some work stuff. My full computer specs are in the op. but gee man, reading your comments makes me go out of breath lol.. i'm not very tech savy.. have barely been keeping with hardware since i've got this x99 setup back in 2015 and I have zero knowledge about the workstations. I'm not based in the US so getting these in my country is extremely hard. I'm only limited to new stuff and only from Amazon US as they handle all the shipping, customs and handling and they tell me exactly what I'm gonna pay otherwise I'm basically risking getting screwed up by the customs here. they're outrageous. so no ebay, used hardware. none of that. really appreciate your comments though. my only options is to either get right now that 5950x or wait like you suggested but im worried about wait time and availability whenever that thing eventually drops.
  15. Thanks for board suggestions. I've seen one that are more at the 300 400 mark which is really high for me. I'll check out the one you mentioned. Well, I rarely have everything under load. When I'm gaming, I'm using a single card. If I'm doing something CPU heavy, usually again I'm not using any of the GPUs. Although when both of the GPUs are under 100% load with the CPU getting taxed as well, I've had a few full shutdowns so the PSU is probably getting squeezed hard here. That's why I'm changing it for the 850w when it eventually arrives.
