  1. Haha okay! So this seems to be in the middle of the pack or somewhere there. I'm happy with it and save the hassle of returning the CPU waiting for a week for a replacement which could very well be another bomb as the first one was
  2. I haven't yea. I read some reviews and noticed that the difference between 4.9 and 5+ in games is not that big. Now that I'm going to stick with this chip I might think about the delid later in the timeline of this CPU but maybe just not now. The temperature difference is the main thing for me because I love my systems super quiet. Thank you for your advice!
  3. Haha that's nice I'm not good at being lucky in my life so I think this is it and I'm happy with it
  4. What would you say are the odds of having a better one or a worse one? Is this in the middle of the pack in terms of performance? I returned my first one which didn't even run at 4,6GHz at 1.35 volts so I'm happy with that
  5. Hello guys! I've now had my 8600k with Asus Strix Z370-F for a while and I've managed to squeeze 4,9GHz at 1,3v max with temps I'm alright with. I bought the chip from a great store where I'm able to take it back and buy a new one if I want to and I'm wondering could I have even better chip than this or should I be happy with this? I'm using 0 AVX when I've ran the tests on Prime95 so I think it may run very well the test even with 5GHz if put AVX on? All the advices would be great!
  6. Hello guys! I've just upgraded my system from way past with i7 950 and LGA1366 to the modern day and Z370 and LGA1151. I'm still using the Thermalright HR-02 Macho rev a. with the ugly older fan and saw a support spacer to the LGA1151 boards in their website, especially meant for the Skylake PCBs. Does anybody here know that do I need the support spacer for the Z370 boards or is it only meant for the Skylake and Z170 boards? Am I safe installing the CPU cooler to my new system or should I order the part and just wait a little longer? The part link is: http://thermalright.com/product/1151-cpu-support-spacer/
  7. Sorry to bother you again but I need your expertize! I've decided go with the board you have the Strix X370 so I can save a bit for the RAM. The ones I have my eyes on are G.Skill Trident Z RGB ones and I cannot decide between 3200 CL14 memory and 3600 CL16. I know that Ryzen will most propably not run at 3600MHz but the price is just even where I live. I'm still leaning towards the 3600 kit if later down the line Zen+ or Zen 2 has support for it. Do you think it is a good idea or should I go with the 3200 kit and just overclock it later if needed?
  8. That is what I'm thinking also Seems to me that it is a crazy bargain atm and when I retire my system I can run the hexa core at a lower clock and cooler if I decide to switch it to HTPC
  9. My plan is just to extend the lifespan of my old LGA1366 platform as I'm waiting the Zen+ lineup. Didn't mention that the main use case will just be gaming and normal applications so I'm not intending any real workstation stuff. Would it be good for that? My old i7 950 overclocks just to 3.8GHz so I think I'd get a bit boost!
  10. Hello! Does anybody here have any expertise on these old but golden Xeons? I'm wondering on buying one and the price difference is not that big. Are the higher Xeons better overclockers or is it always just a lucky coincidencs if I can get the high overclocking one? My MOBO is the Gigabyte GA-EX-UD5 rev 1.0 which officially doesn't support any of the Xeons, but I've seen many youtube videos whit the excat board and revision so I guess they just haven't updated the page afterwards.
  11. Wondring on both of CH6 and Strix and I think I'll pull the trigger sooner than later. Is there any sense getting the new Coffeelake in your opinion?
  12. So it seems that it would be best to buy the Strix X370? How about the VRMs? Asrock has 16 of them, how about this Strix and will it be enough for the stable overclock voltage?
  13. Hello everybody! I've finally decided that I've had enough of my i7 920 and retire it to my HTPC build. I've wondered what upgrade path to take in new i7 8700K or to R5 1600. I think that the 1600 would be better because of the same AM4 platform which would help to upgrade for Zen 2 or even to Zen 3. The main thing that I'm thinking about is which MOBO to buy. I think B350 would be enough to me ATM but I'm bondering on will it last for the Zen 2 and onwards and will it be powerful enough for overclocking then. I love the asthetichs on Asus Strix series and now I'm mainly thinking about B350 and X370 variants of those. Would love to hear your input on this and make the decision easier. I live in Finland and the price difference between these MOBO are around 100e.
