  1. First of all just want to be clear this is purely based on performance not how thick the laptop will be or it will take 2 power adapters etc... just pure performance. I just kind of wanted a idea in regards to gaming laptops, I see all these gpu’s like Rtx 2070, Super 2080 etc... but are they being bottlenecked by the cpu (mobile) and if the cpu was a proper desktop version (in a laptop) would it perform better? Like for example following 2 laptops RTX 2070 Super (not max-q) with a i7 10750h (mobile) vs a RTX 2070 Super (not max-a) with a i7 10700k (desktop) How better would the desktop version laptop perform in regards to FPS in games? I mean is the difference huge or just a little?
  2. Thanks, sorry forgot to mention yea this was what i was planing to do take both rads out of the case.
  3. Thanks, yea reason was for asking I don't want any stuff from the Mayhems X1 mixing up with the Pastel that might cause problems as I really change my coolant nearly a year later.
  4. Ok it's coming to a year nearly and am gonna drain my current coolant which is Mayhems X1 UV Green I have decided I want to try out the Mayhems Pastel Green UV coolant. My question is will flushing my radiators and blocks with distilled water couple of times be ok till the water becomes clear? or do i have to use some sort of a cleaning kit like PrimoChills rad clean or Mayhems Blitz? (Obviously if i was sticking to the Mayhems X1 series coolant then I could just change the colour, but because this is the pastel series will have different stuff in it)
  5. Sorry for not explaining it better, I know a smaller reservoir water would heat up quicker then a bigger reservoir. But my question is how long would it be are we talking seconds, minutes or hours keeping in mind nothing else changes so number of radiators and fan speeds stay the same.
  6. Doing a full CPU load test with everything else staying the same radiators/fan speeds just changing the reservoir. Know keeping the above in mind and just as a example: A 240ml water capacity reservoir vs a 440ml water capacity reservoir. Question know is would it just take seconds, minutes or is it hours for the 440ml reservoir water temperature to reach the 240ml reservoir water temperature as being smaller water would heat up quicker?
  7. This RAMPAGE VI Extreme Encore is doing my head in, previously I had the RAMPAGE VI Extreme and never had this problem. I don't know if it's some setting i need to disable basically when am doing a manual overclock and set the cpu core voltage mode to "Adaptive Mode" and whatever cpu core voltage I set in windows it's always showing 1.32v ? on 3 softwares HWINFO64, CPU-Z and HWMonitor it shows the same voltage 1.32v. The only time I see the voltage that I set in bios which is 1.18v is when I set the mode to "Manual Mode" but this then means the voltage stays the same even when the cpu is idle which obviously I don't want reason for using adaptive mode. I tried the LLC (load line calibration) all the levels & auto still no luck, please if someone can help me would really appreciate it my cpu is the i9 10900x thanks.
  8. But would disabling the pcie slot that has the gpu in it via the motherboard send any power?
  9. So totally removing the gpu from the loop are we talking like 1c to 3c drop in temps for the cpu at full load? I was thinking more like 5c+
  10. I was just curious if a gpu is idle and has under clocked itself because it's not being stressed. But if your only stressing your cpu doing a full load test will the cpu temps be higher because of having a gpu in the loop as well even if it's sitting idle?
  11. I think there is a option on the motherboard to disable pcie slots? It's just I don't want any power going into the gpu which would mean no heat would be coming from it.
  12. Thanks, sorry forgot to mention my motherboard is a x299 no iGPU on there but have a old gpu will use that. My current gpu is the rtx 2080ti but will the PCIe slot be able to power it up without the PCIe cables plugged in?
  13. Since I have a custom water cooled PC thought best to post here. Basically am currently water cooling my cpu and gpu but my question was (sorry will sound silly) I want to leave the gpu in the water loop but if I remove the power cables for the gpu that would mean no power going to the gpu will that obviously mean there should be no heat coming from the gpu? I mean even on idle am sure the gpu is giving out heat? It's because I want to just test my cpu under full load and without the gpu in the loop and see the temps (I have a old air cooled gpu which I will use to run the test)
  14. I have a i9 10900x the motherboard is the Asus Rampage VI Extreme Encore, know in bios when I set the cpu core voltage to 1.18v using the adaptive mode and when am doing a full load test the cpu core voltage in Windows is showing as 1.32v ??? This is just not on one software like CPU-Z this is showing it's on 2 other softwares as well. However the only time the bios cpu core voltage is showing correctly in softwares like CPU-z, hwmonitor & hwinfo64 is when I set the mode to "Manual" but this then means the the core voltage of 1.18v stays the same even when cpu is idle and this is not what I want that's the reason I go with adaptive mode. Is there another setting I need to change? I used to have another x299 motherboard but never had this problem.
  15. I know every ones setup is different, but just so I can get a rough idea what to expect. So what temps are your water cooled RTX 2080 or 2080 ti hitting at full load? If ok what setup (radiator/s) is that with and room temp at thanks.
  16. Thanks, yea with the motherboard when I changed it a few years ago I did a fresh windows install because drivers were for the old one. But I do understand maybe that was not necessary either as i could have just deleted all the drivers for the old motherboard.
  17. Hi, sorry will sound like a silly question but need to be sure. If your just changing/upgrading only the CPU should you do a clean installation of windows also? or is that not necessary?
  18. My question is regarding the inner diameter of a extension fitting (more longer extension fittings like 20mm +) I mean I know the threads are G1/4” on both ends but does the inner extension increase or does it stay 1/4” throughout the extension? I ask because some extension fittings from some manufacturers say there extension fittings are “high flow” even seen it for 90 & 45 degree fittings.
  19. Sorry I know this question must have been asked a few times. But which is a very good if not the best soft tubing currently, wanna use 1/2 ID & 3/4 OD
  20. When you say that, is only 10 cores what about higher cores?
  21. Sorry might sound like a silly question, but if you got a 10 core and a 18 core cpu from the same generation, obviously everything is the same cooling, motherboard etc...only cpu's are changed and both have the same overclock and cpu voltages would the 18 core be more hotter (give out more heat) even if a application or game is not using all the cores? A bit like this A 10 core is only using 6 cores for a game And know the same game 18 cores also using 6 cores but would the 18 core temps be higher even though only 6 cores are being utilized out of the 18
  22. I have a 480 radiator in pull fan configuration using the Noctua NF-AF12x25 fans but because of the space limitation on the other side of the radiator I only have about 20mm clearance. Know I can mount 4x slim 15mm fans and do a push/pull however the other 4 fans I have are normal 25mm thick, so would it be ok to mount 15mm on the other side of the radiator or is that not ideal? Noctua do NF-AF12x15 slim ones as well but obviously the static pressure or rpm is not gonna be good as the 25mm ones. Unless I can find a 15mm fan that matches a 25mm fan for static pressure.
  23. It's the CaseLabs SM8, the top has very good ventilation where the 480 is mounted with the fans.
