  1. Looking for a recommendation on case fans. I'm getting ready to do final assembly and want to tie up my loose ends. I've got an Asus X99 Pro MB. I'll be cooling the CPU with a corsair H110i GTX. The case is a Phantek Ethoo Evolve ATX. It came with dual 140s in the front and a 140 in the rear. I swapped the rear out for a Corsair AF 140 LED and the radiator will have 2 140 Thermaltake SP fans on it. I'm contemplating changing the front fans to 3 120s and not sure which ones to get. The case came with a fan hub that has PWM control but all inputs from the fans are 3 wire. The radiator will run as an exhaust as well. I was thinking maybe doing 3 corsair AF 120s connected to the hub so they'll be in connection with the exhaust fan signal. Then I'll use the CPU fan header and one other header for the radiator and pump signals. Thoughts? Thanks -Chris
  2. Yup. That hits all the marks. Now I gotta find one somewhere. Checking amazon only brings up the freesync model for much less money. Thanks guys.
  3. From what I read/understand is that it has free sync which is native to AMD and looks to the GPU for adjusting the viewed frame rate VS G-Sync which allows the monitor and the GPU to match frame rates. Also, here is the Parts picker list. This should drive most any monitor and I am seriously entertaining getting a second card. The only store in my area is bestbuy and they suck now. Literally nothing on display here. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/BXh7Vn
  4. Been watching Youtube videos all day and reading reviews about monitors. My brain is mush. I'm looking for a monitor to go with my new gaming rig that I'm building. Not looking for 4k at all since it's still not overly supported but I think I want an ultra wide. The Asus ROG monitor keeps coming up on my radar (I know its not a UW). Mostly looking for the following: Ultra wide and or curved. 85+ hz refresh and G-Sync since I'll be running an EVGA 980-TI classified, maybe 2 in SLI. I truly wish the Acer XR34CK had G-Sync. It it did then I'd just pull the trigger now! Any input is greatly appreciated. This is my first time getting back into PC games so I'm still trying to find everything.
  5. I was originally going to go with an 850 PSU but like you said, future plans to run a second card in SLI will gobble that thing out. As far as the case, I've been back and forth 1k times over corsair 450/750/540 then saw some pics and videos of the Phantek and just pulled the trigger.
  6. Hey guys. Been reading/watching and learning a lot over the past couple of weeks and I think I've got it all nailed down. I am coming from playing casual games on the console and sold everything last week. Now between pressure from friends at work and the need to tinker in the winter months I plan on doing a build. Here are the requirements. Budget: Fluid, I'll shave some money when I can but I like quality stuff and can afford it. Location: NH Monitors: Starting with 1 but will likely expand to 3 in short order. Gaming: Would love to play ARMA3 and looking forward to Star Wars BF, Tom Clancy's The Division, Ghost Recon Wastelands and maybe some Star Citizen. Build from PCPartspicker: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PrRhQ7 I haven't decided on monitors/keyboard or mouse. Looking to hit 144MHZ reliable. Think I'll wait for 4k to drop in price a little more. I also intend to double the GPU and run them in SLI with in a couple of months. I do plan on overclocking the CPU/GPU at conservative and reliable speeds (4200/1400). I am begrudgingly putting the WD 1TB optical drive in. I'd prefer to run SSD exclusively. Based on the build, I'd I'll run the OS/drivers off the SSD and store the initial games on the SSD. The WD would be for overflow if needed. Or maybe I'll just scrap it and wait until I need more space. Any critiques and recommendations are greatly appreciated. -Chris
  7. Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure if I was going to to hamper the performance by going with a board that ran 16/8/8 vs 16/16/8. Too many options.
  8. I wont bore you with all the details of my planned build but I wanted to clear up some questions I keep running across. I am considering the ASUS ROG Hero and the MSI X99A Gaming 7 MB with applicable CPUs. 1. In order to take the most advantage for running two GPUs in SLI do I need 2 X16 slots on the card? 2 If the above statement is valid then the CPU choice should have 32 PCI express lanes to allow for the most bandwith/movement of data? Thanks for any clarification that can be made. -Chris
