  1. Thanks guys! Really answered my question here. I just wish Sprint wasn't CDMA, so that I could use the same phone at home.
  2. If I buy an AT&T LG G3 without contract, does that mean it is unlocked? And since AT&T uses GSM, would it be as simple as switching out SIM cards if I wanted to use it internationally?
  3. Thanks for the follow ups, guys! I'm on Sprint's CDMA network, and I intend on using the phone in China and the United Kingdom. I'm currently using an iPhone 5, and according to Sprint, my phone can be unlocked to use a foreign SIM card. But will I be limited to CDMA networks?
  4. Thank you all for the replies! So an unlocked iPhone regardless of carrier, the Nexus 5, and the LG G2 so far. And what about the new LG G3? I was also looking at an unlocked Galaxy Note 3, but it only mentioned GSM. Is there some possibility that the iPhone 6 will support both GSM and CDMA?
  5. I'm looking for an unlocked phone that I can take with me internationally, but can also work on my existing Sprint network. Does such a thing exist? I did some digging and it seems that GSM and CDMA are on opposite sides of an impenetrable barrier, I can either go with GSM which will work internationally, or CDMA which will work with Sprint, but not both. Is this correct?
  6. I couldn't believe the contradiction in Newegg's advertisement for the Radeon R9 cards, take a look: http://promotions.newegg.com/vga/14-0611/index.html?icid=235725&cm_sp=Homepage_TopRightV1-_-vga%2f14-0611-_-http%3a%2f%2fpromotions.newegg.com%2fvga%2f14-0611%2f300x120.jpg It says "RADEON IS GAMING" at the center, and immediately to the bottom left of that, it says "Get Your Bitcoin Mining Gear Here". I think we all know damn well by now that Radeon cards at their current prices are NOT suitable for gamers, yet Newegg actually had the balls to mention Bitcoin mining in the same ad. What kind of joke is this?
  7. Take a look at Phanteks, the PH-F140SP and the PH-F140XP, less expensive than Noctuas and far better looking in my opinion.
  8. Everything Gabe mentioned in the video is pretty much all the information released by Swiftech thus far. As far as I know, Linus didn't visit the Swiftech suite, but there was another YouTuber present, just search for Swiftech CES 2014. The MCP50X is based on the existing design of the 35X, but with a stronger motor and mainly more pressure. I read that it runs noticeably cooler and quieter as well, and is supposed to be the same price or less expensive than the 35X's $99.99 MSRP. All of this so far sounds great, and I'm considering getting the 50X along with the Maelstrom V2, which is also supposed to be less expensive than its predecessor. It would be a bit of a miracle if I could pick up the Maelstrom V2 and the 50X with an Apogee XL all within $200.
  9. I'm not talking about the recent price increases due to coin mining, but the overall price range of gaming graphics cards compared to a few years ago. Remember the glorious Radeon 5870? That card was an absolute beast for its time, and one of the all time greats. It was the flagship GPU of the gaming market until the GTX 480 was released, and it was sold for $379. The GTX 480 raised the bar quite a bit when it debuted at $499, but it did replace the 5870 as the fastest single GPU graphics card. Just over 3 years later, Nvidia once again raised the bar with the GTX 780, debuting at $649. It only seemed to be worth its price tag due to its performance compared to the $999 GTX Titan, but no one noticed the fact that it was still $649. And nowadays most would think a GTX 780 for $519 is a huge bargain. The performance of GPUs over the years has obviously leaped ahead as well, but does that really justify the increase in overall GPU costs? Or is it simply the price of innovation? Due to new GPUs being released from AMD and Nvidia every year, it's very unlikely that this GPU price range will decrease unless either company is going to shoot themselves in the foot and release a GPU that is faster AND cheaper than the previous generation. We either get faster GPUs that continuously cost more and more, or we get rebranded GPUs that cost more or less the same. This can only go one way, and maybe in 3 more years it'll be completely normal to pay $1200 for a flagship GPU.

  11. Haha true story! It isn't much different in America. Home Depot does hire a bunch of lazy teens, myself included, but they do make sure we get enough training to know what the heck is going on when we get out onto the sales floor. I've been working there since June and there are still plenty of things to learn. And I work in the Electrical department, so I wouldn't know all about hardware anyways. The torx and security screws aren't exactly going to work because what I need is like a spacer with threads on both ends, at least that's the best way I can describe it. I may try that, and just attach a spacer in the middle or something. I'm too poor to spend $14 for one screw.
  12. I happen to work at the Home Depot, and I've never seen a hexgonal screw with threads on both ends. What kind of new screw did you have in mind? EDIT: And I actually managed to drill the broken screw out, so now I just need one screw.
  13. There's a replacement kit available on the Corsair webstore, but it's $10 before shipping. I just think that's a bit much for a bracket and a few screws. One of my LGA 1150 screws snapped during installation, and half of it is stuck in the backplate. Sometimes I wish I didn't have super strength... lol
  14. I kinda want to replace my Corsair H80i with an NH-D14, but a few critical issues have stopped me: 1) I have a Mini-ITX system in a Fractal Design Node 304, there's a pretty big chance that it simply cannot be mounted in the confined space. 2) I have mid-profile RAM, in between Corsair LP and Corsair Vengeance, so I will have to switch to LP RAM. 3) The Noctua fan color. My red/black/white color scheme will be ruined if I use an NH-D14. Painting the fans without ruining the fan balance will be very tricky, and switching to other fans will defeat the main purpose of a Noctua cooler.
  15. I'm looking for something that is decent and fairly future resistant. It's never going to be running Crysis 3 at max settings, but I expect it to at least max out Minecraft. I'm thinking the GT630, is that a good entry-level card?
